Story
Meet Balto! This senior fellow came to Helping Paws from the shelter with a bum back leg. We had him checked out by our vets and it was discovered that he has old ligament damage to that knee. That doesn't slow him down, though! Now that he has pain meds to be given as needed, he is a happy boy! He does well with other dogs and ignores the cats in his foster home. He is all Husky for sure, so people with breed experience would be preferred, but not required. He hasn't been around a lot of kids, but he is friendly with people. We suggest older children because he does occasionally take treats pretty roughly and we wouldn't want little fingers to be bitten. He is house trained and crate trained! He loves to curl up on the couch and nap, like any older gentleman would :) Balto's adoption fee is $200 and with that he comes neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He's also been on heartworm and flea prevention. Interested in meeting him? Visit www.helpingpawsonline.com/adoption-application

Story
Meet Lyra! This mama came from the Indianapolis shelter after giving birth to ELEVEN puppies back in May. She did an AMAZING job raising the pups and they have since all found their forever homes. Now that she's had some rest and relaxation and put some weight on, she's ready to find the perfect home herself! Lyra is approximately 1-2 years old, absolutely loves kids, and is best friends with her foster dog brother. She can be overly excited when first meeting new dogs, so a slow introduction with dog friends would be a must. She is house trained and crate trained and has been working on leash manners, etc with her foster family. When she is done for the night, she likes to put herself to bed - even if the rest of her family isn't ready. LOL Lyra's adoption fee is $300 and she will come fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and current on heartworm/flea prevention. If you're interested in meeting her, please submit an adoption application today through our website - www.helpingpawsonline.com/adoption-application

Story
**Bronx is in need of a new foster home! If you'd like to foster him, please submit an application through our website - www.helpingpawsonline.com/foster-application Meet Bronx! This happy go lucky dude came from a local shelter where he was brought in as an owner surrender. He is about 5 years old and weighs about 55-60lbs. He gets along with great with other dogs and is fine with cats. We are recommending older children for him partly because he jumps and partly because he isn't a huge fan of having his collar pulled on (we suspect some past trauma) so the kids would need to be old enough to know not to do that. His foster home is working on house training as he does like to mark, but he will wear a belly band without an issue so that might be a solution while he continues his training. He's a great dog that would love to be a part of a family! Bronx's adoption fee is $250, which will include all of his vaccine, neuter, and microchip. He is also heartworm negative and currently on heartworm and flea prevention. Interested in meeting him? Visit www.helpingpawsonline.com/adoption-application and apply today!

Story
**New Foster Placement Needed for Aristotle! If you'd like to foster him, please visit www.helpingpawsonline.com/foster-application** Meet Aristotle! This guy came to us after being turned into the shelter as a stray. He had been staying in a wooded area with another dog for months and was tough to catch, but a local group that specializes in cases like this was able to get him into safety and now he is in a foster home that is continuing to work on him becoming a more confident guy! Aristotle is approximately 3 years old and weighs a little under 50 lbs. Obviously he age and breeds are guesses since he was a stray, but he definitely has the husky tendency to be an escape artist - LOL. He can scale a 6 foot fence, so he will need to be leashed or watched closely at all times when outside. He is very timid with new people and so an adopter would need to be committed to continuing working with him on socializing. He absolutely LOVES other dogs and so if you are looking for a companion for your dog, he is your guy! He also has done well with the cats in his foster home. We would suggest no children just because of timid nature and the fact children move fast and that easily startles him. He is currently working on his housetraining and crate training and is doing well to acclimating to life in the house :) Aristotle's adoption fee is $250 and he will come fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is also heartworm negative and currently on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you are interested in meeting him, please visit www.helpingpawsonline.com/adoption-application
