Story
Introducing Fay! This sweet pup is currently residing in a foster home, where she is building her confidence and learning how fun it is to live in a home with a loving family. Fay is clever and highly food-motivated, making her an excellent candidate for learning new tricks and basic manners. With some yummy treats as motivation, Fay is sure to impress you with her intelligence and engagement! Fay's accomplishments: - Crate trained - Cues: Sit, Down, Kisses, Paw - Favorite past times: Cuddles, playing in the water, carrying around sticks & hide/seek - Favorite foods/toys: peanut butter, chicken jerky, cheese, baby carrots, balls, and squeaky toys Fay is looking for a family that is willing to take things slow to help her grow and flourish. Fay loves other dogs, and she would thrive in a household with another confident dog as a role model and friend, as they can help show her that the world is a safe and fun place. She would also benefit from a closed-in backyard, which will help her feel safe as she explores outside and acclimates to her new home. From Fay's foster mom: "Fay is such a sweet dog. Once she is comfortable with her surroundings, she is a happy, smiling girl who enjoys playtime as much as cuddles. Fay settles well in a bedroom or crate while at work making her a perfect pet for those who work out of the house. My favorite part of my morning is waking up to Fay's front paw laying across my shoulder as if she is hugging me good morning. Her sweetness always leads to belly rubs and more cuddles before starting our day. " Check out Fay's Instagram page for the latest on how she is doing in her foster home! https://www.instagram.com/fay_thecutestshelterdog/ I am an All-Star dog! My adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and I will go home with my very own no pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get us off to a good start. To learn more about me or to schedule an appointment to meet me, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! I hope to meet you soon! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Story
Meet Jan, the adorable one-year-old retriever mix who is currently waiting for her forever home at our shelter. Jan is a sweet and affectionate pup who loves snuggling with her favorite humans. However, she is currently experiencing fear and anxiety when it comes to the outside world. Given her timid nature, Jan would thrive in a home environment where she can feel safe and secure. She would particularly benefit from the companionship of a confident and calm dog or a fenced-in backyard where she can explore and play without feeling overwhelmed. Jan is incredibly motivated by food, which makes her an excellent candidate for training. With the right guidance and positive reinforcement, she has the potential to become a well-behaved and obedient companion. Whether it's basic commands or more advanced tricks, Jan is eager to learn and please her new family. At the shelter, Jan loves nothing more than tearing up stuffies and having energizing zoomies sessions with her sister Fay. These playful moments bring out her youthful spirit and showcase her zest for life. With the right playmate, Jan will undoubtedly bring lots of joy and entertainment to her new home. If you're looking for a loving and playful addition to your family, Jan could be the perfect match. Her snuggling abilities, along with her potential for training and love for play, make her an exceptional dog waiting for the right person or family to give her the love and stability she deserves. Come meet Jan today and see if she steals your heart! Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things that she will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in her mouth are all part of the puppy experience. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy she will bring into your life. If you are up for the challenge and the fun, stop in and meet her in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you.
