To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. He lives with another male dog now, but really does well with older female dogs. If you have an awesome home for an awesome dog, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. Those emails will get the quickest response, we do the best we can, but if we have to follow up with an email asking you about yourself and waiting for a response, well, we have already moved on to the next email that has provided the details. We are doing the best we can to find the right home for each dog or cat, just need your help too! :) He's BAAAAAACK!!! Cello was adopted by a loving couple, and they adored him. He was doing so well and acclimating to their home for the most part. But....he just could not get past city living, he was right in the midst of all Chicago has to offer. Some dogs would thrive on all the activities and dog friendly environment, but, for a guy like Cello, country life is for me!! Cello has the Pug look as well, but is a little taller. He looks like a Pug/Shepard mix, also called a Shug. If you google this mix you will see a couple dogs that look just like Cello. It is possible to have different fathers for the same littler of pups, so that could explain their differences. How fun to have such a unique little dog, and what a potentially odd combination!! Cello had come in with his brother, Banjo. He is happily in a home with his new family(not big city living either, but not country). He is doing well. Cello is fine with the noises in our area, cars, motorcycles, farm equipment and such, but perhaps he was just too overstimulated in Chicago. He loves other dogs, enjoys playing in the yard, is a happy and loving guy. Cello is pretty laid back, housebroken, listens well and is not much of a barker. He would be a great chill type companion for someone that might like a hiking partner, has other dogs that need a pal, or just a best buddy. He would do well with an experienced dog owner, and probably would do better in a home without small children. He is just 4 years old and about 30 pounds. (they put on a little weight here, but are working on shedding a couple pounds!)Cello's adoption fee is $250, now $150!! Cello has waited long enough for his very own family, we just want him to have a loving home. He will go home with tons of supplies to help him settle into their new home! Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

We are doing the best we can to find the right home for each dog or cat, just need your help too! : His real name is Shiitake, you know, like the mushroom. We did not name him, he was given that moniker at the animal control that took him in. But, it is a cutesy name for a very cute boy, he is our little mushroom! The fungus amongus. We just call him "Taki" for short. (we pronounce it Tocky). We are totally in love with Taki, he is simply a brilliant dog!! By that we mean he is of course incredibly handsome(stunning), but also over the top loving to his people and his dog pals. He is so smart, alert and very athletic. He is also very tuned into his people, has great recall and wonderful manners. In fact, he had an adoption with a wonderful couple that fell head over heels for this guy. But sadly, Taki was not terribly fond of city living, he was a bit anxious with all of the sights and sounds. They tearfully brought him back to us knowing that they could not provide what Taki truly may prefer in his life. Taki LOVES being outside, he will be an excellent hiking/jogging/kayaking partner. He also loves water. He will do best in an active home with a fenced yard and another dog buddy would be a huge plus. He is fine with dogs of all shapes and sizes, but probably not cats, he has quite the prey drive(no birds landing in this yard!). Also, Taki will be fine in a home with OLDER children, sorry no little guys. Taki is just 30 pounds, he is more legs than he is anything. We are guessing on his breed(s). He has the look of a Shiba Inu? Norwegian Elkhound, but not the stockiness. He is a mix of some sort, Shepard(maybe basenji?), we are not sure. We are sure that he is spectacular, he looks like a regal show dog when he poses. He will do well with a dog savvy family that can guide this young guy in his life to help him reach his full potential. His adoption fee is $300. He will go home with plenty of supplies to help him settle into his new home. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

****When responding please use our application at sparrowdogs.com, or tell us about yourself,(family, home, yard/fence, other pets, work hours..) Thanks! You will never meet a sweeter little fella, and considering Doby is a Chihuahua, that says a lot!! For those of you familiar with Chihuahua's, you know they can be feisty little buggers, lol. Such is not the case with Doby, he would rather spend his day with his favorite person, snuggling on the couch is a true luxury. His best buddy in his foster home is the husband(he thinks he is a king, go figure). With football season coming, who doesn't need a little pal to cheer on the BEARS(Ok...or your favorite team...) and he is great about sharing some snacks and does not mind the crumb patrol at all. Doby had a family for a number of months, but as their baby became a toddler they realized that Doby was not a fan of small children. Doby is actually one cool cucumber of a guy, he would rather chill with his peers(as in adults), hanging out on the couch, sharing some munchies, and even tolerates those car repair shows, and gasp...golf!! You can see from his profile pic(not the sharkchi, lol) he knows he is one cool dude, and of course will make an excellent side kick for some lucky person. Doby is looking for an extra special home, one that will love him and accept him just the way he is. We have no idea why he has a pattern of hair loss on his body. Perhaps it was due to a previous injury? We just do not know, but he has some tufts of longer hair, then smooth skin area's. Ironically, his back looks just like Hulk Hogan's mustache, now how about that, one in a million I say. Doby also has a significant heart murmur. He is still a spunky guy and is not on any meds or will not require treatment. He will just live out his life with his condition and hopefully live it to the fullest with the right family. If you are looking for that extra special little guy to love and adore, someone that will return the favor and make you the hero in his world, then Doby is your guy. He is just adorable, irresistible and his sweet little face will just melt your heart!! We are looking for that very special person/family. Doby is 8 years old and about 7 pounds. His adoption fee is $125. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com. (BTW--he is yawning in the Shark picture, not growling, lol)
