Story
Meet Sam! Sam is a very handsome pup, estimated at about 3 years old. He’s thought to be a Mastiff Mix, but, rather small for the breed. Sadly, Sam found himself at an overcrowded noisy animal control facility down south. He deserves a forever home and family of his own, and we want to help him get there!! This precious pup absolutely loves people and is good with older kids who are respectful of dogs. We expect he is good with lower energy dogs. Dogs who are too active might scare him and cause him to react. Sam absolutely loves belly rubs, and treats too! He's a little rough around the edges in terms of training but clearly is eager to learn. Sam is in overall good physical shape however he does have some vision issues causing him to sometimes miss things coming his way….this is why we expect he’d be scared by higher energy dogs, and high-activity youngsters. Sam is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and on preventative. We would still like to get Sam to an eye specialist for a comprehensive examination of his eyes/vision. If you’d like to add Sam to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Story
Meet Chopper, born Feb 8, 2025. When we brought Mom-Dog Helena up from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky back in December, little did we know she’d be delivering puppies a couple months later. Her six puppies one boy and five girls are absolutely adorable. Helena is likely a Chihuahua Mix and of course we have no idea of the breed of the father-dog. We expect the puppies to grow to an adult weight no greater than 20 - 25 lbs. However any adopter must be aware and accepting if the puppy grows into a larger adult! Chopper has visited the vet a couple of times, has been dewormed, is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. He will be neutered when appropriate (we do not do early spay/neuter). His neuter and microchipping are included in his adoption fee as long as it is done by our vet clinic.. Chopper and his litter mates will be ready to move along to their forever homes early June. If you might be interested in adding him to your family, please email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com for information on adopting, and for an adoption application. BAARK is located in Barrington IL and adopts local to our area.

Story
Lincoln is a handsome young Border Collie Mix, with an estimated date of birth of December 23 2022. He weighs about 45 lbs. He absolutely loves people and is very affectionate. However he is not fond of other dogs. Lincoln enjoys spending time in his foster family’s yard and would love a forever home with a large, secure fenced (above ground) yard. He loves spending time with human friends and needs a family or, a single pet parent, who will spend plenty of time with him. Because he’s not good with other dogs, dog parks are not on his list of favorite places! However, he is an active boy and would love to go for hikes and runs with his people….when he’s not playing in his own yard! Border Collie experience is a big plus for this smart boy. Due to his energy/playfulness, he is not an apartment or condo dweller. Rather, he’d love his own spaces where he could run and play, and an active family, or pet parent!! Lincoln is up to date on all vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He is neutered and microchipped as well. For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to this area.

Story
Iggy is a sweet little guy, a Shih Tzu / Toy Poodle Mix, weighing in at about 9 lbs. He is thought to be 5 years old. Iggy is an absolute perfect boy. He loves everyone. And also really enjoys being with dogs his own size; larger dogs may scare him. He is playful and active, loving and cuddly. His favorite activities including playing with toys, fetching and chasing toys for hours, leash walking (harness please!) and hanging out with his people and other small dogs. An ideal family for Iggy is one with plenty of time to spend with him! And, a willingness to buy him plenty of new toys! A moderately active household appears idea for Iggy’s balance of playfulness and calm. Small dog experience is important for an awareness of the challenges facing small dogs (coyotes, hawks, easily escaping). A secure fenced yard (above ground) is also a big advantage. Iggy is fully vetted and in overall good health. However he may be slightly visually impaired but you’d never know it. He has recently visited an ophthalmologist and currently requires eye drops…which he is not too happy about. If you are interested in adding Iggy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847-852-0895. NOTE that BAARK is located in the NW Suburbs of Chicago, and adopts only local to our area.

Story
Meet Gene: A Lovable Mix of Loyalty and Joy 🖤🐾 Gene is a 7–8 year old Pit Bull/Labrador mix with a heart as big as his second chance. This short and stocky sweetheart weighs about 48 lbs and recently joined BAARK Dog Rescue from Central Illinois—just hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, Gene hopped on transport and landed safely in our care, ready to start his new chapter. 🧬 Breed Blend of Brilliance: Gene’s Pit Bull side gives him that signature loyalty and playful energy, while his Labrador traits shine through in his gentle nature and love for people. He’s lived a tough, neglectful life, which may make him look a bit older—but don’t let that fool you. He’s agile, happy, and full of life. 🐶 Social & Sweet: - Loves everyone he meets—humans and dogs alike - Gentle and playful with kind children (best with older kids) - Housebroken and well-mannered indoors - Walks beautifully on leash - Not a fan of crates, but an excellent passenger on car rides (his favorite!) Gene prefers lounging inside with occasional walks over spending time in a yard—possibly a reflection of his past life spent outdoors. He’s looking for a home where he can be part of the family, not just a fixture in the backyard. 🏡 Ideal Home: - A loving family who enjoys companionship and calm routines - Older children or adults who respect his gentle nature - A home where he can skip the crate and enjoy the couch instead 🩺 Health & Vetting: Gene is: - Housebroken - Scheduled for a full vet check - Appears to be in great overall health 📍 Adoption Info: Gene is being fostered through BAARK Dog Rescue in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. We adopt locally within our area. If you’re ready to give this handsome boy the forever home he deserves, please email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847-852-0895 for more information and an adoption application.

Patches

Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)

Female, 7 yrs 5 mos
Barrington Hills, IL

Story
Patches is a cute, tan and white Terrier Mix, estimated to be about 7 years old, weighing 15 lbs. She is very cute, and good with most other dogs but sometimes is selective about her friends; she was confiscated along with several other dogs, ended up in a downstate animal control, and finally found her way to BAARK. Patches is well behaved, affectionate , an overall nice girl. However she has many traits typical of a Chihuahua; we suspect that she may be part Chihuahua. She can be dog selective, can be bossy with other dogs, and will not back down if another dog challenges her. So, if there is another dog(s) in the household, he or she should be mellow and laid-back. While affectionate, Patches is not fond of cuddling. She’s an independent spirit and prefers to do her own thing. She will surely make a great companion for adults familiar with a small dog with such a temperament, and able to appreciate this personality. Patches is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in adding this independent spirit to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.
