Story
Titan is 1 year and 9 months old. (115 lbs) We have had him since he was 12 weeks old. He is truly a gentle giant. He does wonderful with our 4 kids, and doesnt mind the cat. Most of his day is spent sleeping in the living room or following me around the house. He is a velcro dog and loves HIS person deeply. He is well behaved, we continue to train him with an e-collar to teach him boundaries etc (stay out of the kitchen). He is crate trained, although we have forgotten to put him up at night a few times and he does well, and has come looking for me to let me know he has to go out to potty. During the day, he uses his bell at the back door to let us know he wants to go out. He is the sweetest, most attentive dog I've had. Unfortunately my husband and I disagree on his size and big dog traits like drool and just his size in general. We are a big family as is, and it's impossible for us to travel with him, unless we take two vehicles. He will come with crate, kuranda bed, etc.

Story
Guinness is the sweetest dog. He’s very gentle and loving, but he requires a ton of attention. Attention that unfortunately we can’t give him at our current stage of life. Without attention he becomes anxious and pees inside. He will throw other fits out of anxiety such as moving his food bowl all around the house, digging the floor, peeing and pooping around the house. With a ton of attention, these behaviors are less. We got Guinness from a pet store when he was six months old and have been his only owners. He will be 13 at the end of September. He is still very healthy, but does seem to have some hearing loss. We don’t really want to re-home him, but we know it’s not fair to him to keep him with us since he’s not getting the attention he needs and deserves. He needs a home where he is preferably the only pet and can be given a lot of attention.

Story
My name is Anne and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m still a puppy – I’ll turn 1 in mid-September. I currently weigh 18 pounds. I came to my foster home here in Dorchester, IA, from a commercial breeding facility where I was born. I’m still getting used to being a pampered pet. I’m skittish around loud noises and unexpected movements, but my curiosity is starting to show. I may be shy at first, but once I get to know you, I’ll greet you with tail wags and wiggles and lots of love! I follow my foster mom around the house. There are kids here, and I’m still scared of them. Their fast movements and squealy noises spook me. I get along with other dogs, as long as we’re introduced slowly. I love to play chase and I’ve got lots of puppy energy! Sometimes I play rough, so if my forever family has a resident dog, they should be tolerant of my puppy antics. There are cats in my foster home and I don’t bother them. Like a lot of puppies, I love to chew and rip up things – like grass or toys (I’m an expert de-stuffer) or even furniture if foster mom isn’t keeping an eye on me. I’m a good girl in my kennel when foster mom is sleeping or when she leaves the house. I’m getting the hang of potty training. I don’t make messes in my kennel if foster mom takes me out on schedule when we wake up. I can walk on a leash, but I prefer to do my business in the fenced yard here. I’m not a fan of baths. Nope. My perfect forever home will have patient humans and a resident dog or two to help train and guide me as I grow up. No small kids, please! My forever family should be careful to guard against escapes, especially around open doors or gates or fences, since I inherited the Shiba “escape artist” gene. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated. I have a mild heart murmur (grade 1-2) which doesn’t cause me any problems. If you live in the Midwest and are looking for an active, affectionate, pretty girl like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster mom, so we can meet!

Story
My name is Penny and I’m looking for my forever home. My must haves are: a patient forever family who will help me continue to learn to trust humans, and a securely fenced yard, since I am not yet comfortable walking on leash. A resident dog or two is recommended. I’m 6 years old and I came to SIRA from a commercial breeding facility where I was a breeder mama. When the breeder didn’t want me anymore, SIRA rescued me and brought me to my foster home here in Davenport, IA. I was so scared when I first arrived here – it’s so different than everything I knew. It has taken me some time to learn that humans here are kind to me. I’m still very cautious, but I am learning that attention from humans can be nice. My foster mom sometimes brings me over to the couch to sit on her lap. That feels nice and cozy and I will happily stay there. But when humans are moving around, I move away or just stay in my safe spot. I’m also figuring out that the humans here have yummy things to eat! It’s taken me a while, but I’m brave enough now to take treats from my foster mom’s hand. There are other dogs here in my foster home and I like them. We like to play together, especially around bedtime when I start to get the zoomies. I am a healthy girl – spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and I weigh around 18 lbs. My perfect forever family will be experienced with dogs like me who are shy and skittish. I’d love to have another nice dog friend or two to play with. They really help me feel safe and learn all about being a treasured family member. I haven't had the chance to meet any cats or small kids, so I don't know what I'd think of them. If you live in the Midwest and are interested in a sweet, shy, Pretty Penny to be by your side, the first step is to visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to start the application process. Applying helps SIRA learn more about you so they can make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet.

Story
Drama is a sweet, energetic girl who loves to play, go for walks, and cuddle up once she’s gotten her energy out. She loves to lick as well. She’s smart, obedient, treat-motivated, and loves toys that challenge her. She’s crate-trained and does well with kids but likes to jump at times. but She does need brushed up on obedience training. She would thrive in a home where she can get daily exercise, attention, and structure. She is male dog selective, and NO female dogs. She would be happiest with someone who understands strong, intelligent breeds like hers. Drama has been deeply loved and cared for. This decision has been incredibly hard — but it’s being made so she can thrive in a home where she has the space and attention she deserves. We’re looking for someone who’s patient, dog-savvy, and ready to give her the love and stability she needs. Again, I would like to stress no female dogs at all. This has contributed to us rehoming her, as we have a female dog in the home.
