Story
To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. He lives with another male dog now, but really does well with older female dogs. If you have an awesome home for an awesome dog, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
We look forward to your response in regards for this delightful gentleman, but when you do, please use our application at sparrowdogs.com, or tell us a bit about yourself please. Meet Otto, he is perhaps a Pugchi, part Pug and part Chihuahua. We think the Pug genes gave him his love for the sedentary life, appetite and some girth. His Chihuahua side of the family tossed in a little bit of spice into that mix and gave him just a dash of attitude. He is a man of leisure. He enjoys a fine meal and a soft bed. He prefers his blankets swirled around his portly frame. Occasionally his face will poke out, just for a sniff, perhaps there is a snack headed his way?? Or...one of the other foster dogs might need his stern guidance if things are getting a little willy nilly. He does not suffer fools lightly.(lol) Well, with that said, that is the reputation Otto tries to uphold. He wouldn't want anyone to know that he really has a fun side, ya know! He can be a little cantankerous on occasion, but all that amounts to is a few grumbles. He wouldn't want to admit it, but he has had a lot of fun running around with the playful dogs in the yard. Even at 8-9 years old, he can be a spunky guy. Otto enjoys spending his time relaxing on a soft bed. He is looking for a more laid back home, and one that will understand that he may need a little time to get to know you. He will do well in a a dog savvy home that understands that it takes time to develop some relationships, and those can be the best ones!! He can be fine with kids, but we think perhaps teens, no little guys. Otto is fine with women, but really prefers men, he would like a buddy to hang around with. Story
****When responding please tell us about yourself(home, yard, family, fence, work hours, other pets?) or use the application at sparrowdogs.com***** Lil' Miss Lydia came to us on October 31st, yep, a Halloween arrival. We named her after the girl in the movie BeetleJuice, Lydia Dietz. Seemed fitting given the day, and this little furry Lydia was also quite troubled and displaced as well. Lydia had a family, but they took her to a vet clinic to be put to sleep. They said all she did was lay on the bed. Thank goodness for the kind people at the clinic that instead had the family surrender her so she could find a family that would love and care for her. She soon arrived with our rescue. Lydia came in very terrified of everything, especially human contact. She has never been fear aggressive, in face she turns in to a statue when you hold her, she just freezes in fear. But with time, a little bit of meds, and loads of patience and TLC, Lydia is coming out of her shell. Lydia LOVES to the other dogs and spends her days playing and rough housing. She enjoys her soft toys and will carry them around. Funny...all the toys seem to end up in Lydia's favorite napping spot, hmmmm. She has come a long way and she still has a ways to go. But there is so much hope for Lydia. She is a happy bouncy girl, loves being outside, loves her snacks(will follow us around for a treat). But-she still carries that fear of people, she just has not let her guard all the way down. Maybe she never will, maybe with the right gentle family and other dog pals she will learn to relax. Lydia absolutely needs someone that has experience with fearful dogs. It is about winning her trust, letting her feel comfortable before forcing contact. Baby steps really, whatever happened in her life, she needs someone to give her the love she apparently has never had. As adorable as Lydia is, she is NOT the dog for everyone. She is looking for someone kind hearted and patient with the understanding that it will be a little journey with Lydia to help her feel truly safe and loved. We think that with the right home she will progress like so many fearful dogs we have cared for. Lydia will need a secure fenced yard. Another dog in the home is a huge plus. Lydia is about 5 years old, 12 pounds or so. We are not sure of the breed(s), it is a pretty good guess. If interested Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
***When responding please use application at sparrowdogs.com, or feel free to tell us a little about yourself(dog experience, home, other pets...) Yep, that is him, Scrappy Joe. He actually has a body that can hold up those ears, and since coming to HOPE rescue has put on some weight and also simmered down his scrappy attitude quite a few notches, lol. Poor guy didn't catch a break in the first 5 years of his life it seems. Remember those horrific storms and tornadoes that blew thru the Chicago area last July? They were brutal. Well, this little guy spent a good part of that horrific time in his little crate, dumped in someones yard in the pouring rain!! Luckily it was a kind hearted person that took him into the vet clinic she worked at. They cared for Scrappy and even sheared him down(under anesthesia). He was a little force to be reckoned with, very fearful and defensive. He did not bite anyone, still hasn't, but sure puts on a good show of bravado when he feels the need.(not so much anymore). They contacted us, since we have found our little niche taking in so many dogs that need a little extra patience and understanding. Often, we are their last HOPE! Little Scrappy Joe has come a long way from that fearful little boy. He has been with us for months, and has made himself at home. He ADORES the other dogs, his toys, being outside and exploring the yard. He even snuggles in to his people in the evening for TV and snacking on peanuts. Plus, he is totally housebroken and pretty well mannered. He listens well, and is a smart little guy. But--he still has his triggers. He is sensitive about being touched around his hips or if someone is reaching over to pet him or the dog next to him on occasion. He did well with a Thanksgiving get together with new people. They were instructed to basically ignore him. He did get some pets, and some snacks, and had a nice time. Scrappy Joe, or as we call him now, JoeJoe, will need a very patient and understanding home. We will not be adopting him to a home with children. He needs a dog savvy home, a fenced yard is a plus as well as another playful dog. JoeJoe has so much potential. The way someone else has treated this poor guy in the past should not shape his future, he is truly putting that behind him. He just needs that special person to help him on that journey. He is about 10 pounds, 5 years old and is as cute as can be!! Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com. His adoption fee is $150, he will go home with plenty of supplies to help him settle into his new home!

**********************We will only be responding to emails, Sorry-phone calls and texts will NOT be answered. Contact info is at the bottom of this post.********* To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. Those emails will get the quickest response, we do the best we can, but if we have to follow up with an email asking you about yourself and waiting for a response, well, we have already moved on to the next email that has provided the details. We are doing the best we can to find the right home for each dog or cat, just need your help too! :) Three little boys recently came into our rescue from a private family that needed to rehome them. The boys were born on Christmas Day, what a special gift!! Their Dad is a Great Pyrenees and Mom appears to be a large hound mix, possibly lab, shepard?? In honor of their birthdate we gave each boy names of popular characters from our very favorite Christmas movies. The pups were taken from the mother when she was physically not able to nurse these 3 big boys any longer, her health was suffering. So, they have been weaned for a couple of weeks and are doing great. Meet Kevin...as in KEVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, named after Kevin McAllister, the spunky and mischievous little boy from Home Alone. In the movie Kevin was the pesky little brother, kind of forgotten in the hustle and bustle of the family, but in the end not one to be overlooked!! Our little Kevin is that guy. He is THAT little brother. Smaller and feisty and a dash of mischievousness. Kevin was so hard to get a decent picture of, he was all wiggles and silliness. He would run around, then do a big stretch, I had a lot more nonsense pictures than good ones, lol. He is such a happy and snuggly boy and likes to bug his bigger brothers, even when they try to nap. But he soon settles down as well. They are all such great puppies!! Kevin is very lovable, playful, and of course absolutely adorable!! He is looking for a family with a sense of silly and playfulness as well. And--if his family keeps his name, how fun will that to call him..."KEEEVVVIIIN!!!" Kevin is about 10 pounds right now and will be a good sized dog we can assume, he was 8 weeks old on Feb. 19th. He is the last of the litter of three we had, they were all lovable, social and so cuddly! His adoption fee is now $300, plus a $100 deposit that will be returned upon proof of neuter when it is age appropriate. Due to the large breed parentage it is vet recommended to postpone neutering until 12-18 months of age. He will go home with plenty of food, treats and supplies to help him happily settle into his new home! Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com
