Story
We adopted our handsome boy when he was 3 months old from a shelter. Less than one week later, we almost lost him to Parvovirus. After 8 miserable days in a hospital, he came home and recovered quickly. He is a very energetic 7 year old who loves to run and play, as much as he loves to snuggle on the couch. He requires a lot of space and enjoys long walks regularly. He is showing no signs of slowing down- unfortunately with a toddler at home, we feel he is not getting the space and attention he deserves. We want nothing more than for him to go to a family who will love and care for him as much as we have all these wonderful years he’s been a part of our family. Approximately 32” tall and weighs 75 lbs (very muscular)

Story
Freya is a 4-year-old Pocket American Bully who loves snuggling on the couch and exploring the woods on long walks. Shes playful, enjoys toys, bones, and tugging on her rope, and is great on car rides! She is ready for a best friend. Freya is smart and knows basic commands like sit, stay, wait, place, and heel. She is a more dominant dog, so she needs an owner experienced with the breed and comfortable with strong dogs. Freya can be anxious with loud noises (like fireworks) and new situations but overcomes fears with patience. She is on anxiety meds but has made progress and can come off them soon. Due to her protective nature and resource guarding, Freya needs a calm home without other pets and only older children. We are rehoming her after having a baby, as the changes have been stressful for her. Freya comes with her leash, collar, food, toys, and a month of anxiety meds if needed and a bag of food. Meet Ruby, a friendly and loyal 8-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback looking for her forever home. Ruby is a gentle giant who enjoys spending time with her humans. She is well-mannered both indoors and outdoors however she is not afraid to jump up looking for a kiss. Her calm, affectionate nature, makes her an ideal companion for a family or an active individual. She quickly warms up with the ability to forms strong bonds from the start. Ruby has been well-trained and knows basic commands, and she is great with kids and other pets. She is healthy, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to bring loyalty, love, and plenty of cuddles into her new home. She rarely barks but will be the first to alert you if something goes bump in the night. We have been the proud owners of Ruby since she was 8 weeks. Unfortunately with my upcoming Army deployment and my wife needing to care for our children, we came to the hard conclusion that we can no longer provide the love and attention that Ruby deserves.

Story
Finn is a sweet and playful guy. He knows his basic commands and for the most part, house trained (if he is alone inside all day we suggest doggy daycare or someone who can come take him out for a walk/play). He has never been crated before. He is good with older kids as he’s still a bit energetic (5 years or older). He enjoys lounging throughout the day, squeaky toys, and lots of affection. He is a mixed breed and don’t know for sure what he is, but he definitely has some golden retriever. He is a loyal dog that would ideally thrive in a solo environment. He has been boarded before and the owners stated he did really well with other dogs. Right now, he has a companion (our other older dog) and they get along great. We rescued Finn when he was a puppy, he is coming up on 2 years old so he most likely won’t get any bigger. He is naturally protective (will bark at strangers who come to the house) but other than that an all around cuddler. He is also great at listening.

Story
My name is Milly and I’m looking for my forever home! I will be 13 in July, so I’ve been around the block a time or two, but I’ve stillgot lots of spunk and love and life and opinions left! What I’m looking for is simple: someone to love and take me for walks and rub my belly. I’d love a soft place to snooze and a window to sunbathe in and watch the world go by. I’m a lovebug and well-behaved in the house. I’m fully potty trained and not destructive. I may be small – only 15 lbs - but I’m not afraid to express my opinion (if you want to see my Drama Queen mode, try to trim my nails!). I came from a home where everything was fine until a tiny little human came along. This little human needed lots of attention from my people. The squealy, screamy noises and sudden movements and grabby hands freaked me out! My family tried to keep us separated, but they realized that I was sad. It wasn’t fair to me or to the little human, since we both needed love and attention. So that’s how I came to my foster home here in Chicago. I was scared at first of all the new things. There are other dogs here and I let them know right away that I wasn’t a push-over. While there were a few spats at first, things settled down once I got to know and trust them. I still get growly when I worry that they might take my food. But I like it here – I love going for walks in the neighborhood and curling up in bed at night with my foster mom. My perfect forever home will be a calm one with no small children (older, calm, respectful kids are fine). I haven’t lived with cats or small pets, but I like to chase squirrels and bunnies outside, so they might not be the best fit. Loud noises and lots of activity can make me nervous. If there are other dogs in the house, gradual supervised introductions would be best. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated.
