Story
Theo now at the age of 3 was found on the streets of STL and was taken in by Gateway Pet Guardians, he suffered from double cherry eye and a complete urethra prolapse and penial injury. The shelter did an amazing job fixing all of his injuries however at least every 3 to 4 months he does have some penial bleeding due to the loss of part of it and being left with some sensitive skin. Though this is considered a special need he handles it very well and it is easy to treat, just a diaper and some gentle cleaning allows for the flower to go back in and it is all done. He is the biggest cuddler you can find, he just wants to be with his people even kids, he has spent the last two years with two French bulldog siblings so he thinks he is a small dog. He is housebroken and will let you know he needs to potty by going to the door and pawing at it, he is not crate and sadly needs to be the only male in the home due to circumstances between him and my male, he is a great loving boy!!

Story
Hi, my name is Sheila and I'm 15 years old.  I was adopted when I was 7 years old and returned when I was 13 years old.  I was returned because I had severe anxiety when it stormed or when there were loud noises.  My family lived in the path of an airport and the planes flying over caused me to have anxiety.  I am back living with the foster family that I lived with before I was adopted. My foster mom says I am one of the smartest dogs she ever met.  I am friendly and greet visitors at the door.  If it's just one person I lay on the floor and just relax.  If there are many visitors I greet them and then relax in a different room.  I do pace when there are thunderstorms. My foster mom said one time I used the bath tub as a safe place during a storm.  I am guarded with men I don't know.  I don't live with any other dogs or cats.  I have learned to accept other dogs when I go to the groomer. I do not like being in a crate. I do best in a home where I am the only pet.  I am house trained.  I am available for immediate adoption.  I am spayed, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm tested, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped.  My adoption fee is $100.  If you are interested in making me a member of your family please complete an Adoption Profile in person or on-line at www.bondcohumane.org.  Email the completed profile to the address provided.  A copy of our policy regarding warranties, refunds and returns is available upon request.October 24, 2024, 4:29 pm

Story
Hi, my name is Boomer and I'm about 8 years old.  I was rescued by Bond County Humane Society from Bond County Animal Control.  My story is a sad one and not for the faint of heart.  I was raised in a home since I was 5 weeks old.  I was part of a family that had a toddler and a cat.  Through no fault of my own I was rehomed in October of 2024.  The new owner abandoned me in December 2024.  The reason given was they couldn't take care of me.  They had no idea how expensive dog food and vet care would be.  I ended up at Bond County Animal Control where I was at high risk for euthanasia.  Bond County Humane Society had met me and could not let that happen.  They found a foster home for me and took me in.   My foster mom says I am a very sweet boy and I'm good with her several cats.  One of the cats that doesn't usually like dogs likes me and we groom each other.  I know some commands and I am very willing to learn.  I want to please people if I can.  My foster mom says I whine when I need to go outside to potty.  My biggest fault is I get very excited when I meet new people and dogs. I never went our very much when I was growing up to meet people and dogs.   I am working on getting a little less enthusiastic.  I would probably do best with a young dog that shares my excitement.  A female dog would be best since I was neutered so late in life.  I do need to have a high fenced yard.  In my previous home I would jump the fence and play with the dog next door.  I am available for immediate adoption.  I am neutered, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm tested, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped.  My adoption fee is $150.  If you are interested in making me a member of your family please complete an Adoption Profile in person or on-line at www.bondcohumane.org.  Email the completed profile to the address provided.  A copy of our policy regarding warranties, refunds and returns is available upon request.February 7, 2025, 6:36 pm

Story
"My name is Luke and I came here on 8/17 after being abandoned. Although it was sad, I think it was for the best, because I am a very smart dog and need to be in a home that can give me the exercise, time and attention I long for. I'm a beautiful brindle boy who is a great dog. I'm not a digger or one that destroys stuff. I'm not a barky or mouthy dog. In fact, I'm pretty chill in my pen. Even though my owners left me, I came here already knowing how to sit on command! I really want to please and love training! The volunteer trainer here says I'm a good dog and learning so much! I know how to sit, walk on a leash and am very treat motivated! I'll do best in a home who will be consistent and remind me about the proper way to get attention. I'm a young, energetic boy who needs calm, consistent, structured guidance. I had a sleep-over with one family and I did great with their small kids. I was fine sleeping in a crate there, and also did good with their pig, chickens, and dog (I like to play with other rough-and tumble dogs.) I LOVE to be rubbed under my chin, on my chest and around my ears. I hope for a family who will take me on walks, have a fenced yard or like to go on long walks. All I want is love and a chance. I have a heart of gold. I really do." BONUS: The dog trainer will give FREE training lessons to Luke's lucky adopter. This is something we will require, to ensure a long, happy life for Luke and his family! ........ We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Story
A note from Dodge himself: "Hey there, I'm Dodge, a one-year-old Lab mix looking for a home to show me love. I didn't have the best start in life; hoomans didn't really try and make friends with me, so I'm a bit independent. But I'm seeing that hooman attention is kind of nice. I have already learned that I love scratches on my chest! Pure bliss. It makes me feel warm, fuzzy and loved. I ready to try things like snuggles, treats and toys. I can sometimes pull on the leash, because I'm so excited about walking, but a training collar or no-pull harness with help with that. And when it comes to other dogs, I seem to be good with them and we will know for sure if you bring your pooch to meet me. Plus, I'm a good watch dog! I'll bark if someone is coming on the property or to the door, so that's a good thing I can help with! I'm Dodge, and I can't wait to restart my life in my forever home! If you like a dog that isn't all up in your lap and business all the time, come meet me! We can hang out." ........ We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
