Story
Pickles was found by a crew of Site Conservation Technicians at Horseshoe Lake State Park in Madison County, IL. In July 2025. As of today no one has claimed him and he has been fostered by one of the technicians since then. The technician position is a temporary job and they will be out of work soon and will no longer be able to care for the dog so rehoming is critical at this time as all other shelters are full. He is both sweet and friendly as well as protective and obedient. Loves to travel and be by your side as much as possible. He requires time, patience, and a lot of exercise. He is no more than a year old according to the vet and up to date on all vaccines, as well as neutered. He has a chew toys, food & water bowls, hoodie & PJ's set, and a harness. I can also accommodate with an outdoor run/lead system if necessary and a large bag of food. PLEASE serious inquiries only! We are running out of time and too many people have given us false hope already. Thank you.

Story
Harlequin is a loving 10lds ball of fluff, a true character,.He will follow you everywhere, do anything for a treat, spin to be let out, play games, but he hates big dogs. I rescued him from Atlanta GA in deplorable conditions and got him back to 100% Mainly had to shave about 50% of him. He was instantly a love. I couldn't imagine not having with me. He goes shopping, car rides, etc all like a gentleman. Rides on the foot rest of the store go carts. Or walks sometimes in the basket. He is an anxious dog and other dogs trigger this. I will have to medicate him for him to stay here and the German Shepherd has started retaliation. We've tried , separation with a gate and seperate yards is only thing that works, but that means 1 dog doesn't get attention, and that's not ok. Plus dude not ease Harley's anxiety. He is a wonderful ESA dog. And could be a service dog if trained. It breaks my heart to let him go but I will put his safety and emotional well being first.

Story
My mom adopted me from Gateway Guardians shelter in East St Louis in April of 2024 when I was just a tiny baby! I was born on February 17, 2024. My life has been good - my mom works from home, I sleep with her every night and she's never really away from home. I live with a 7 year old cat and we get along just fine, though I'm always wanting him to play and he doesn't want to. I'm pretty quiet, but if someone knocks on the door I'm gonna let you know! I'm a seasoned pro when it comes to going potty outside and I do stay in the crate if mom is gone for more than a couple hours. I don't know any strangers and I absolutely adore every human I meet - even my apartment neighbors love to bring me treats! I'm really strong - a little stubborn - and I'd rather be snuggling than doing anything else. My mom is moving and cannot take me with her, so I really need to find a good home in order to avoid going back into a shelter!

Mini Poodle 10mo/ DOB 11.10.24 10 Pounds Neutered /Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Heartworm / Flea Preventative INSTRUCTIONS for ADOPTION: **Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. **If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send a completed application to gateway4paws@gmail.com. **Applications & FAQ regarding adoption can be found on our website. **Only completed applications that meet requirements will be reviewed. **Since we are 100% foster-based rescue, only approved applications will be contacted. **We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & be able to drive for a meet & greet. Another product of the puppy boom, Pignut wasn't sold by his breeder in a timely manner. So, he "aged out" & was sent to rescue. Pignut hasn't had much opportunity for socialization in his short little life. He will need a family that takes the time to bond with him & show him the ropes. We like to remind applicants that a new puppy is a lot like a toddler. Pignut will need to be supervised, and the best way to do that is to have a dedicated space set up for him. This area will be a part of the home where he can see activity & observe, but it is a place that is puppy proofed. Where he can play, lounge, or nap when his family is not directly engaging. Playpens, 4-squares, or x-pens are excellent tools to make this possible. They are easily mobile if you want to move them around, too. If you have interior stairs, please have a plan to keep your puppy off the stairs unsupervised. Additionally, please be aware of the stair railing & the distance between the spindles. Small children, anyone unsteady on their feet, and large dogs could be a safety hazard for Pignut. So please consider that when making the decision as to him being a good fit for your family. Pignut has been really successful with his potty training. It is a process that will require commitment & patience, as puppies have a little puppy bladder. Remember, in a new home, a new environment means that new habits will have to be established. Please give him time to get used to a schedule & set him up for success! This little guy is doing rather well with harness & leash training. We will accept applications from families who do not have a fenced yard. But we will insist on you having a plan for a safe area where Pignut can do his potty business without being stressed or startled. If you do have a fenced yard, your fence must be very secure, a 10lb puppy can quickly fit through very small spaces. It is worth considering having an xpen for your yard, as this would be an extra layer of protection for Pignut's safety. No puppy should ever be left in a yard without supervision, NEVER EVER. Bringing home a new puppy is a huge responsibility. It requires lots of patience & time! But it is very rewarding if everyone is invested. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt a wonderful new friend. Please don’t apply without speaking to your spouse/partner first.
