Bosc Pear / Bichon 12 Pounds DOB 07.02.20 Neutered /Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered/contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive for a meet and greet. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications can be found on our website at gateway4paws.org Bosc is a sweet boy who has been looking for his very own family for over a year but no one has been interested in him. He loves to be held & snuggles when it is storming outside. He is a timid boy and would prefer to just come to you when he wants to. His family should be prepared to give him plenty of time to get used to being around hands, humans, & home activity. Bosc will not walk or do potty business while on a harness and leash. Therefore, he must have a secure physically fenced yard. In time, his family can work on leash training, but he isn't ready for that right now. Bosc enjoys the company of his foster brothers and sisters. He looks to them for guidance so this will be a requirement for Bosc. They also need to be of similar size to Bosc or smaller. Bosc has shown measurable improvement in potty training. While in the house, his mom uses a belly band for him. This allows her the opportunity to correct his behavior without the panic of getting the furniture or carpet soiled. He is doing well, but again, his training needs time, praise, & consistency. Bosc will be the perfect companion to just hang out at home relaxing. Please apply if you are prepared to dedicate time & love to giving Bosc the family he has always deserved.

Shih Tzu DOB 12/18/19 12lbs Neutered/Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Current on flea/heartworm prevention Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY, it will answer most of your questions. If you are a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered/contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive for a meet and greet. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications can be found here on our website. Hershey was a pretty shy boy when he first arrived. He was scared & not sure what the future was going to be. Well, he arrived at his foster home & was greeted by some furry friends who assured him it was going to be fabulous from here on out. He spent the first few weeks just watching. Watching the humans, watching the other dogs, & watching the household activities. Hershey has come a long way and now follows his foster mom everywhere. He will jump up on the recliner so his foster mom will hold him. He lays in the kitchen next to her feet. He loves his foster mom. He is still unsure of his foster dad but is getting better. In his new home, everyone will need to understand Hershey will need time to adjust so you will need patience. Hershey is still not accepting of the harness and leash so he will need a secure physically fenced yard. In time, his family can work on leash training, but it isn’t going to happen any time soon. He is a very good boy that doesn’t need to be crated & is always on his best behavior when his foster family is gone. He is not completely potty trained but taken out often, he doesn't have accidents. Hershey needs a low-key family that will allow him to bloom. He really needs another dog of similar size in the home already. He will lay and snuggle with his foster siblings around the home during the day and he cuddles with his 4 legged siblings on a comfy bed in his human fosters bedroom. Please apply if you have a nice slow-paced home for Hershey to join.

Blanche Maltese 5yo/ DOB 04/22/19 Approx 10lbs Spayed/Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Current on flea & heartworm prevention Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered/contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive there for a meet and greet. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications & FAQ about our adoption process can be found on our website. Blanche is a low key, quiet little girl. Until now, she has spent her time raising puppies for other families. Now, she has the chance to find her family & to be loved for the rest of her life. She has had very little human interaction, so humans are unfamiliar to her. She is very brave, and will smell your hand & take treats from you. She just needs some time to get used to movement & home noises. She will do best learning from other 4-legged siblings so we would like to see her find a home with some friends of similar size & energy level. She follows her foster siblings around, like in & out the door for potties. Going from room to room & different activities. Blanche is not yet ready to be a lap dog, and she isn't a dog that you can just pick up. She will need time to establish trust & relationships with her family. She is still not accepting of the harness and leash. Therefore, for her safety, a secure physically enclosed area is a must. She isn't an outdoor adventure dog; she doesn't need a yard that she can run around in. But she does need a very secure area to do her potty business. Never EVER should she be left in the yard alone. If you are looking for a quiet friend, Blanche would love to hang out with you! We hope to find her a human friend that is interested in spending the day with Blanche watching & observing the wonderful world around her. She is a dog that is finally getting her chance to lounge around & be a dog!

Lizzie / Cavalier King Charles Spaniel DOB 04/06/17 13lbs Spayed / Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Heartworm / Flea Preventative Heart Murmur/ DCM Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you meet the requirements, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Applications can be found here on our website. Since we are 100% foster-based rescue, only approved applications will be reviewed and/or contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive there for a meet & greet. Mileage requirements may be lifted for Cavalier or DCM experienced homes. Lizzie came from a past life of breeding. Thankfully, she is a love bug and is not timid like most are. At Lizzie's vet intake appointment, the vet heard a heart murmur. Because of this, we got her seen with the cardiology team at U of I. She was diagnosed with Nutritional Secondary Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). DCM is not common for the cavalier breed. Her valves look good & there is trivial evidence of tricuspid regurgitation. The concern is with some enlargement, we have started her on a high-quality diet that could slow/reverse this condition. Lizzie will need to be seen by a licensed cardiologist in November for a recheck echocardiogram and follow the cardologist recommendation going forward for rechecks. She has also started Pimobendan which she may or may not need to remain on this medication long term. Your local vet is not the same as a cardiologist and they cannot perform these tests. If you don't already have a cardiologist, do the research to see where the closest one is to you and ensure you can make the drive should they be far away. You will be required to provide us the name of the cardiologist you would use when you apply. When Lizzy came into rescue, she needed a dental. She only had 13 teeth that needed to be cleaned/ but unfortunately, they were bad and all had to be pulled. Good news, Lizzy is in no more mouth pain and you will not need to pay for any more dentals. Lizzie is okay with a leash. She does better at her potty duties if she has a secure area to go in. For this reason, we would discuss a small designated physically secure area, as Lizzie isn't really fond of playing outside. She doesn't need a fenced yard, but she does need some security. Remember how little she is, and NEVER should she be left alone outside. Lizzie is a stage 5 clinger, she will glue herself to you, or any human, who will pick her up. Her number one goal all day long is to be touching a human. Being held by a human, laying next to a human, sitting with a human, staring at a human.....lol. You get the idea. Lizzie is an excellent car rider. She is just happy to be part of the festivities. Lizzie is just so thankful to have a chance at her own family. She is an absolute gem that doesn't get into any trouble, loves everyone she meets, and just wants love! Please let us know if you have the perfect home to offer Lizzie by sending us an email. Dottie/ Pomeranian DOB 11/26/20 7lbs Spayed/Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Heartworm/Flea Preventative Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered or contacted for adoptions. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications can be found here on our website. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive for a meet & greet. Dottie is a sweet girl just waiting for the right forever home. She came from a life of breeding, so everything has been new for her, but she is doing well adjusting. She is nervous and shy until she gets settled in which can take several weeks so she will need a patient home. Because of her being timid, she needs a calm somewhat quite home. Older, respectful children will be fine with Dottie. Dottie loves playing with the other four-legged friends. A home with another dog of Dottie's size is required. Dottie looks to her foster canine siblings to learn commands & feel safe. We are happy to say that she responds rather jubilantly & has fun playing. Her favorite thing in the whole wide world is to zoom all over the yard, run & run & run & run! At this time, Dottie is still not comfortable on a harness and leash. For her safety, you must have a secure physically fenced yard. Any fence with gaps will need to be reinforced around the bottom area so Dottie is not able to get through the spacing. Additionally, we will make sure the adopting family has a plan to prevent any door-dashing. We have a lot of experience in this, & we can make easy recommendations to help keep Dottie safe. Her forever home will need time to teach her that she is safe. In her foster home she has shown this is possible, time & patience is key. Dottie plays & runs around like a happy dog should. She will even lay on her back & expose her belly while playing! You can find FAQ on our website regarding adoption. Please send us an email with your completed application if you think you'd be a good fit to adopt Dottie!

He particularly enjoys his furry friends and is much more confident when they are around. We will seek to find a home where he will have an appropriate canine friend. Buddy is still not accepting of the harness and leash so he will need a secure physically fenced yard. In time, his family can work on leash training, but it isn’t going to happen any time soon. When he arrives at his new home, we will immediately need a secure safe space to continue his housetraining & potty schedule, that is why a fence is a must. He is a very good boy that doesn’t need to be crated & is always on his best behavior when his foster family is gone. He is not completely potty trained but taken out often, he doesn't have accidents. He doesn't know how to signal to go out, but he will go out & back in easily. He likes to have a partner when he goes outside. One of Buddy's favorite things is sleeping with the whole family in the big bed at night. He really wants to be a part of the family, to be included & loved. A low-key patient home will be the perfect place for him to bloom. Please apply if you have a nice loving home for Buddy to join.
