Story
Nova is a 6 year old red and white malamute that came in with Sequoia and Luna. Sequoia seems particularly bonded to her. While these three do very well with each other, they have displayed some dislike toward other dogs of both sexes, especially when they are together a pack. Nova is a very tall girl and presents herself as the reserved lady of the the three, putting up with their shenanigans and maintaining her dignity. Her clown comes out every so often. Story
Hi, I'm Skylar, the Cuddlebug! My middle name is "Pet Me". I was a stray in a Southern Illinois rural area when I was picked up and put in doggy jail. Adopt-A-Pet came and took me out and put me in a foster home so I could find a new family who would take proper care of me. My best guess is I'm somewhere between 3 and 5 years old. I weigh 17 pounds and kind of look like a large chihuahua. I'm sure there's some terrier in there too. I am tri-color with some pretty unique markings. Just look at my pictures! I LOVE attention, snuggling up with you & getting a massage: back, butt, tummy or head. It doesn't matter. Just pet me. I can sit or lie down on the couch or recliner next to my foster Mom, while she's on the phone. I won't move for an hour as long as she's massaging somewhere on me. That's the main time I sneak in a few kisses!! My second greatest passion is taking long, sniffing walks around the neighborhood. I'm really good at learning new things. I came to Adopt-A-Pet knowing pretty much nothing, and now I've mastered some of the basic commands. I know Sit, Come, Stay and Heel. Mom has me sit at every street corner saying, "It's a street." I am also learning to Down. A good obedience class with my adoptive family would really help in the long run. I'd be the star student, rather the teacher's pet. When I first came to this house I wasn't neutered and had to mark my territory all over. I didn't know that I was expected to do my business outside. Now I am neutered and my foster mom took me outside constantly to make me learn this. I still have an occasional accident but I've pretty much mastered housebreaking. I'm still a little leery with strangers and it might take me a little while to warm up to you. But once I do, watch out - I'm your friend for life! Again, that obedience class that you're going to take me to will help with this. I'd do best in a quiet house with someone that's home a lot to give me Love and let me reciprocate. Someone who enjoys taking long walks. No little kids, please, as I'm just not used to them and not quite ready to take them on yet. Will you please come and take me home so I can Love you? Skyler's adoption fee of $350 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, Bordetella vaccination, Rabies vaccination, 4DX heartworm/lyme test, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, routine deworming, microchip and neuter.

Story
Lucy came to IAMRA when her owners health and financial situation changed. Lucy is a big, beautiful, 8 year old red headed gal. She is very sweet, we are told she is good with *some* other dogs (so she is picky about her doggie friends) but never met a person she didn’t like. More as we get to know this pretty girl. If you are interested in this dog, or any of our other dogs, please go to www.iamra.org and fill out an online application. Story
Buddy is a handsome lab mix, estimated to be about 8 to 10 years old. He's a kind-hearted guy with a zest for life! Buddy came from a rural area in Southern Illinois. His owner went into a nursing home, and the family abandoned him. A kind neighbor found him and called Animal Control to come pick him up. Even though he's a senior doggie, the people at the pound fell in love with him and made an extra effort to get him into a rescue group. Enter Adopt-A-Pet! Buddy is now safe in a foster home and doing extremely well. Buddy is affectionate and outgoing with everyone he meets. He listens well and is very mild mannered. Buddy loves attention but will also entertain himself - he loves car rides and hanging out in his yard. He's good with other dogs, and doesn't mind cats. While we don’t think Buddy has ever had any formal training, he is extremely smart, housebroken, and catches on fast. He has proven highly adaptable in his foster home and very much appreciates being loved and loves to return the favor! Buddy is looking for a loving home for the rest of his days, preferably with a comfy couch to call his own or to share with you! Buddy's adoption fee of $225 includes: Vet exam, heartworm test, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccinations, Bordetella vaccination, Rabies vaccination, flea/tick preventative, deworming, heartworm preventative, microchip, dental cleaning and neuter.

Story
Meet Sweet Lilly!Sweet Lilly is an adult, 55-lb. mix with a beautiful brindle coat. She has a lot going for her! She has an energy level many would consider ideal: she is calm and laid back in a home but still enjoys a romp in the yard (a fenced yard is required for her), playing fetch, or a forest preserve walk. Sweet Lilly already knows commands and is fully house-trained. She doesn`t have accidents, is not a barker, and is not destructive when you leave her loose. Sweet Lily enjoys car rides. She would like to be the one and only dog in your home, but she does not act up if she sees another dog and has done well on pack walks. What makes Sweet Lilly a dog that is not for everyone is that once she settles in at a home, she becomes protective of things she considers `hers,` including toys, beds, and people. Although she has never hurt anyone, Lilly needs an adults-only home for this reason. Sweet Lilly comes with free in-home training and ongoing support to ensure that her people know how to handle her proclivity for resource guarding. We are certain that Lilly can and will thrive in the right home, with the right support, and will make a wonderful companion. Adoption fee is $320Email: fosteradog@almosthomefoundation.netAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:Be at least 21 years of age;Have the consent of all adults living in the household;Have approval from the residence owner;Have valid ID with current address;Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home and live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg.
