Story
Bella came to us from an abuse and neglect situation. She was being kept either in a dark basement in a crate or on a chain in the yard with little room and inadequate shelter. This poor girl even had calloused bed sores on her hind end from being locked up! She has been the sweetest little thing the entire time she has spent with us! She LOVES running around in the bigger fenced in area with all of her dog friends! She gets along with absolutely any dog. It doesn't matter if they're big, small, male, female, nice or grumpy, guaranteed she will love them all! She is great on a leash, kennel trained and house trained. She would do best in a home without cats because if they run she can be a chaser! She is Heartworm positive, we are hoping this wont deter a new loving home from taking this precious girl in. Her adoption fee is $275 and this will include her spay, 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come see her! Thank you! Are you interested in adopting this pet? Story
Baby is a sweet little girl that is looking for her furever home! She is a bit of a tough case because let's face it, cattle dog breeds are protective and one owner type dogs. She is no exception! If you're looking for a small - medium size dog that will lay their life on the line if someone breaks in, this is the perfect dog!! She is small but fierce! Baby does not care for strangers and will dang sure let you know. Not a single person will even pull into your driveway without you knowing about it. She has been raised as an only dog and she prefers it that way. She does however get along with several of our female dogs here! She is a girls girl and would love to not have any male dogs around. She doesn't mind cats though! She is the ultimate house dog! She wants to lay in your lap, be pet constantly and loves her squeaky toys! She is also very house broke and has great recall! She was in a home with teenage grandkids and she did fantastic with them, although she is still very protective of the family. Her adoption fee is $275 and this includes her spay, 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come meet her! Thank you! Are you interested in adopting this pet? Story
Bandit is a great dog looking for a great home! He was picked up as a stray and was never claimed. He is a german shepherd mix and boy oh boy you can tell! He has the iconic gsd whine and he is smart as a tack! If you're looking for a dog that would never be too old to teach tricks than this is your guy! He would do great in a more energetic home and a home that has knowledge of the breed. He is always ready to go for adventures but does need a little help with leash manners. He already knows how to play fetch, sit, lay down, shake, drop it and he is completely house and kennel trained! He is not a jumper or climber of fences but with a typical gsd's prey drive we would highly recommend a fence or barrier of some kind. He seems to do well with pretty much all dogs big or small but he absolutely loves small dogs or puppies the most! He is also totally fine with house cats as long as they're not wild and running around all the time. He does not beg at the table when you're eating but he LOVES to lay by the stove when you're cooking just to be close to you. He is also VERY protective of his people so you will know every time someone pulls into the driveway. Once he meets a person one time and knows it's okay for them to be there then he remembers it forever! His adoption fee is $275 and this will include his neuter, 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come meet this outstanding boy! Thank you! Story
Cleo is a bright and happy girl hoping for her new family before the cold gets here! She is the most excited puppers whenever she sees everybody and she absolutely does not know a stranger! She was surrendered to us due to some personal issues with the owner so we do know a little about her history. She is still so young that someone could take her home and still teach her everything under the sun! She already knows how to sit, lay down (sometimes lol), walks decent on a leash given her age, and best of all, she has great recall! She has already overcame quite a bit in her short life. With the previous owner, she was hit by a car but luckily they were able to get her emergency medical help so she has zero limitations from it! Honestly nobody would know if they wouldn't have told us! She is mostly house trained if kept on a schedule and she is also kennel trained! She gets along with every single animal she comes into contact with, whether it's cats or dogs. As long as someone is willing to run and play with her she is good to go! She would make a phenomenal family dog with some kids to keep company. Her adoption fee is $275 and this will include her spay, 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come visit this happy girl! Thank you! Are you interested in adopting this pet? Please click here: https://form.jotform.com/210158338747157 and fill out an application. Story
Who want's their very own Grim Reaper for the spooky season?! Mr. Grim came to us as a starved, neglected, stray who was never claimed. He has put on tremendous amounts of weight and is finally healthy enough to start looking for his furever family! Since he appears to be a shepherd mix you can bet he is going to be one HUGE boy once he's completely up to weight! He has been the most happy guy since coming to us! When he was picked up he was pitiful looking and looked like he had given up on life. Now he is eager to see everybody, loves playtime with the other dogs and is full of life and energy! We think he is around 6 years old, give or take but he has the personality of a very large puppy! Whoever gets to take this amazing dog home has to promise us they won't tell him he's too big for their lap since that's the only place he wants to be! He is well mannered and doesn't get too rambunctious. He does well on a leash but would still benefit from some extra training in that department. He knows how to sit and shake and he is smart enough to know not to potty in his kennel which would make transitioning to a home a breeze! He does well with all the doggos here at the shelter. He does prefer submissive males over dominant ones but he obviously loves all the ladies! He is not a fan of cats since he thinks its a huge game of chase with them. He would do great with some older kids to play with! He is not a fence climber, jumper or digger either plus he has great recall! His adoption fee is $275 and this will include his neuter, DAPPV vaccine, 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come meet him! Thank you! Story
Little ole Duke has been the best kept secret at UCAC! We’ve had this boy for almost 2 months only because he has been through the wringer with health issues from his previous life. He is beyond resilient and deserves a loving home where he will never have to wonder about his next meal ever again!! He was being fostered by one of our girls and she had nothing but great things to say! He gets along fantastic with other dogs, doesn’t mind cats at all, walks great on a leash (he was even in a parade!) and house trained himself because he’s such a smart boy! The best part is he is 100% a bed dog! He will sleep next to you all night without a peep or an accident! There has to be a family out there that would love this boy as much as we all do! His adoption fee is $275 and this will include his neuter, microchip and 1 year Rabies vaccine. Please call 618-833-4915. Thank you! Are you interested in adopting this pet?
