Story
My sister's friend had to move and could only take 2 dogs, so they picked the ones they loved most and left Loki with my sister, my sister had 4 dogs at the time and could not care for him. So she dropped him off with me. That was 2 years ago. This dog was left outside all his life. He does not know how to act inside, he pees everywhere and runs around and knocks things over, he is not aware of his surroundings, he doesn't have an off switch. It's like he's on drugs, he's always go go go. He never lays down unless he is in a kennel or outside. He needs a high active person, someone who hikes everyday or something. He is dumber than rocks, I have tried giving him a job working cattle, he's not cut out for it. I take him camping, but it's not enough for him. He needs someone who can keep up with him. He may be 6 years old, but he acts like a puppy.

Story
Before Hercules was, well, Hercules, he was an awkward, slightly scrawny guy who didn’t know how to control his own strength. But with dedication and some help from Phil, Herc matures into the hero we all know and love. Can you be Phil for a big, strong dog who needs more training and time to be his best self? Pepper is our Herc -- lovable and heroic but not always aware of his size and strength. He's a 5 year old pup who's been through a lot of change, and we're looking for a constant companion to coach him through the rest of his life. Our big guy hasn't had the most consistent, easy time lately. He was underweight and physically unwell for a big chunk of this year, but he's feeling so much better these days. He currently weighs about 120 lbs and needs to gain more weight. He's neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. As we've gotten to know him, we've realized how responsive Pepper is to his friends and how much he loves to spend time with his person. Pepper is incredibly intelligent (and handsome, of course). He's eager to learn new skills and to practice his cues in exchange for some delicious snacks, particularly string cheese. Pepper's ideal family is one that can provide him with lots of activities to satisfy all of his instinctual needs and plenty of adventures to keep his brain and body busy. He is not a lazy, low-key kind of dog -- this guy has energy to spare and wants to be on the move.Pepper loves to run and play -- and, more than anything else, CHASE ALL THE SQUIRRELS. And sometimes bunnies. We need to find a strong handler who can manage his exuberant desire to chase and who can give him space to prance and pounce. A home with no other animals and no children would be best. A big, secure yard would be great, but Pepper would also thrive with an active, outdoorsy lifestyle.Pepper would love to have adult humans in his life who have the time to rub his belly, play games, take him for car rides, train, and exercise. He's a hard-working boy with so much potential. Will you be his Phil? For more information about our adoptable dogs and/or to submit an adoption inquiry, please visit meridianrescue.org.

Story
Introducing Willard, a dynamic and intelligent boy with a zest for life. This 5-year-old adoptable dog is a true blue-collar type of guy, seeking a home where his active nature can be embraced. Willard is a bundle of energy, always ready for an adventure and eager to engage both his brain and body. With his striking appearance and charming personality, he is sure to capture the hearts of those around him.Willard's smarts shine through in his quick learning abilities and problem-solving skills. He has continued his training here at MCR and is always eager to learn more. Willard is a country boy at heart so he'd love a big space to play in and to not be bothered by the hectic city life. Because of his strong instinctual need to herd objects or people in motion, he thrives in an environment that provides mental stimulation and challenges his intellect. Whether it's puzzle toys, agility training, or interactive games, Willard is always up for the challenge. This active pup will succeed in a home that can offer him plenty of opportunities to exercise and engage in activities that keep his mind sharp.Willard would love to have hoomans of his own who will love him daily, cuddle with him, and give him plenty of enrichment to keep his mind busy and his body active (and keep him out of trouble from boredom). As we've mentioned before, Willard is pretty much a genius. He's a hard-working boy and despite his high energy levels, Willard is a loving and affectionate companion. He forms strong bonds with his human counterparts and is the best friend you could ever have. His zest for life is contagious, and he will bring an abundance of laughter and excitement to any household that can match his enthusiasm. Willard prefers to be the only "child" in the house, so no other animals and no children, please. If you're looking for a four-legged companion who can keep up with your active lifestyle and bring endless fun to your days, Willard is the perfect match for you. Adopt him today and embark on an incredible journey filled with adventures and cherished memories. For more information about our adoptable dogs and/or to submit an adoption inquiry, please visit meridianrescue.org.

Story
Ellie’s goal in life is to be your best friend! She has the sweetest, gentlest heart and loves everyone though she can be shy the first few minutes of meeting you. We hope the most amazing family snags her up. Until then, we are loving on her. Ellie is a bit of a clown and makes up her own games for everyone’s entertainment; there is no limit to her creativity. You can’t help but laugh when she pushes the ball underneath the couch or hides it behind a pillow just so she can make a game of trying to get it out again, well, or get you to fetch it for her when she can’t reach it after all. Ellie loves going for walks and if you leash her up and she gets tired of waiting for you to get out the door she can pick up the handle and walk herself… isn’t that nifty? She also loves toys, playing fetch, searching for a ball we hide for her, and using her athletic abilities for jumping, climbing etc. Being a lively girl she will definitely need daily exercise but she is actually gentle when playing and settles down well. She takes treats gently out of your hand and loves belly rubs. She is generally well mannered and doesn’t even take food off the coffee table she could easily reach. You probably guessed already but Ellie is super smart and has a blast learning and doing new things and going new places. We think an active family is best for her, maybe one with older kids to play with and plenty of activities to engage her mind and body. She can be a bit of an escape artist, so she would need a fenced in backyard, or be monitored while she is outside because she has jumped a 6 foot fence before.Ellie is good with older kids (preferably ones that are over 12). She will need to be the only dog in the home as she does not get along well with dogs. She also shouldn't be trusted around cats because she loves to chase them! She is house-trained and crate trained. She can be uncomfortable in the car the first few times you take her but once she trusts you she loves going for rides.Ellie is 6 years old.If you’re interested in Ellie, please fill out an adoption form on our website. For more information about our adoptable dogs and/or to submit an adoption inquiry, please visit meridianrescue.org.

Story
Meet Elizabeth - Your Future Cuddling Companion! Elisabeth is a beautiful and affectionate 5-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier with a heart full of love to give. Her friendly nature makes her an instant favorite with everyone she meets. Elisabeth enjoys her daily walks and thrives on the companionship of people. Personality: Elizabeth is a true people-lover and enjoys nothing more than spending time with her favorite humans. Her sweet and gentle nature makes her a delight to be around, and she's always eager to show affection through cuddles and snuggles. Elizabeth is a genuine cuddle bug, and she's sure to bring warmth and love into any home. Breed Traits: American Pit Bull Terriers are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and zest for life. They are people-oriented dogs who form strong bonds with their families. Their playful and energetic nature makes them great companions for active individuals or families. With proper training and socialization, Pit Bulls are gentle, loving, and excellent with children. Special Considerations: Elizabeth would do best as the only dog in the household. While she loves people, she prefers to have all the attention to herself and may feel overwhelmed by the presence of other dogs. In a home where she's the sole recipient of love and affection, Elizabeth will flourish and bond deeply with her human companions. Skills and Training: Despite her past as a stray, Elizabeth is a smart and obedient pup. She knows basic commands like sit and enjoys learning new tricks, especially if treats are involved! Elizabeth takes pride in her paw-shaking skills and loves to impress her humans with her talents. With continued positive reinforcement and patience, she's sure to excel in her training. Ideal Home: Elizabeth is searching for a home where she can be the center of attention and receive all the love and affection she deserves. She would thrive in a household where she's treated like royalty and given plenty of opportunities for cuddling and snuggling. A family who enjoys spending quality time with their furry companion and is committed to providing her with a loving and stable environment would be the perfect match for Elizabeth.
