Story
Meet Sting! This handsome pup was briefly adopted from HSoP, but didn't get along with the other dog in the home. Now he's available for adoption and looking for a new home to spend his days! We estimate Sting to be around 1 year old. Since Sting did not get along with the dog in his previous home, we're recommending he go to a home with no other dogs at this time. We don't know how Sting does around cats, but it's very likely he would try to chase them. Sting earned his named from the stingray-shaped marking on his back. It's pretty distinct! Sting is nervous about the other dogs in our care, but has grown worlds more comfortable with our staff. He absolutely lights up when he gets to have one-on-one play time away from the noise of the dog kennels! Watching him get the zoomies is such a treat. Sting loves volunteers and makes new friends within just a few seconds! He's an incredibly athletic dog and has the energy to go for miles. Sting can run, jump, he could probably even climb if given the chance! We think he could make an excellent companion for outdoor adventures. Being the energetic muscle-head he is, Sting will require daily walks or access to a secure outdoor area to ensure his exercise needs are being met each day. He could also benefit from mentally-engaging activities, like kongs, slow feeders, frozen treats, and snuffle mats. One thing that sting will need help with is potty training. This is something that is much easier to learn in a home environment, with consistent reminders and opportunities to go potty outside. Sting will sit on command for treats and absolutely loves being told how good of a boy he is when he listens! He would likely respond well to continued training in his new home, as it would give him something positive to focus on. Sting is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and will leave HSoP with a microchip containing his new owner's information. Those interested in Sting should come visit him at HSoP! Our dog kennels are open from 2:00-5:00pm Monday through Saturday with no appointments needed. Sting's adoption fee is $135.

Story
*Beluga cannot go home until after he's been neutered on September 24th. He can still accept visitors and applications in the meantime!* Meet Beluga! This delightful gentleman arrived at HSoP as a stray, after he was found running around the water tower on UI campus. Despite several posts on social media, he was unfortunately never claimed by an owner. Now he's on the hunt for a loving home to call his own! We estimate Beluga to be around 2 or 3 years old. Since he arrived as stray, there isn't much that we know about his background. In the time he's been at HSoP, we've observed Beluga to be an absolute firecracker! This boy is packed with energy and always bouncing around. He likes to jump and sometimes, he even likes to dance. With all this energy to be considered, Beluga will require daily walks or access to a secure outdoor space to ensure he's getting enough exercise each day. Not only is he energetic, Beluga has a very happy demeanor. He keeps a big smile on his face most of the time, and is truly pleased to have human company. He loves being pet and scratched! Beluga would benefit from continued training in his future home. He knows how to sit on command, but could improve with "stay" and learning more commands. He's very excited about treats, but make sure you ask him to go "gentle"! Sometimes he can get a little over excited, and confuse your finger for the biscuit. It's unknown if Beluga has ever shared a home with cats, children, or other dogs. We do offer a seven-day foster period with each adoption, and require all dogs to meet any canines in the home prior to leaving HSoP. Beluga'a adoption fee is $135. He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped with his new owner's information by the time he goes home. Interested in Beluga? We aren't surprised! Stop by HSoP and get to know this lovely pup between 2-5pm Monday through Saturday. HSoP is located at 2019 E White Ave Moscow, ID 83843.

Story
Meet Boba! This beautiful girl arrived at HSoP as a stray and was unfortunately never claimed by an owner. Now that her stray holding period is over, she's ready to find a loving adoptive home to call her own! We estimate Boba to be around 3 or 4 years old. Since she arrived as a stray, there's a lot we don't know about Boba or her history. For instance, we don't know if she has ever shared a home with dogs, cats, or children. Every adoption comes with a seven-day foster period, which can help determine if its a good fit for the whole family. We also require all dogs to meet any other dogs in the home prior to adoption. From the short time we've been able to know her, Boba has wasted no time showing off her million dollar personality! She's incredibly outgoing (seemingly hasn't met a stranger) and loves to spend time with new human friends. She knows how to sit and stay on command, but does better when treats are involved. One thing Boba struggles with is jumping up out of excitement, which is something we commonly see with pups at the shelter. This is a habit that would be easier to correct in a home setting, with consistent reminders and positive reinforcement. Being a relatively young and outgoing dog, it's no surprise that Boba has plenty of energy to burn. She will need daily walks or access to a secure outdoor space to ensure she's getting enough exercise each day. We think she would appreciate an active owner who's willing to take her out on adventures, too! It's unclear is Boba is already spayed or not. She will need to be spayed before leaving HSoP, so she'll need a trip to the vet to verify this before going home. Don't worry, Boba can still accept visitors and applications in the meantime! Boba will also be current on vaccines and microchipped by the time she goes home. Her adoption fee is $135. Get to know Boba and our other adoptable dogs between 2-5pm Monday through Saturday with no appointment needed. HSoP is located at 2019 E White Ave Moscow, ID 83843.

Story
Say hello to the beautiful Dahlia! Dahlia arrived at HSoP as a stray and was unfortunately never claimed by an owner. Now she's ready to find her perfect forever home! We estimate miss Dahlia to be around 1 year old. Still a puppy on the inside, Dahlia is full of energy, life, and excitement. There's a lot we don't know about Dahlia since she arrived as a stray. For instance, we don't know if she has ever shared a home with dogs, cats, or children. We do offer a seven-day foster period with each adoption, which can help determine if it's a good fit for the whole family. We also require all dogs to meet any other canines in the home prior to leaving HSoP. Dahlia is exactly what anyone would expect from a young lab mix. She's friendly (absolutely loves making new friends), smart (knows how to sit and take treats gently), affectionate (loves being pet!), and playful (jumps and dances around). It's clear that she has a ton of energy to burn, so Dahlia will require daily walks or access to a secure outdoor space to ensure she's getting the exercise she needs to thrive. Being a big people-dog, she would be happy to stick by your side for any outdoor adventures you have planned. We think that continued training would be great for Dahlia! Our staff has quickly come to love Dahlia and the energetic joy she brings to each day. We know that she'll have no trouble finding a wonderful family to call her own! If you think that Dahlia sounds like the dog you've been looking for, we encourage you to visit the shelter to see if she's a match for you. It's unclear if Dahlia is already spayed or not. She must be spayed before leaving HSoP, so she will be checked (and spayed, if needed) by our vet soon. Don't worry, Dahlia can still have visitors and accept applications in the meantime! Visit this pretty girl and all our other adoptable dogs between 2-5pm Monday through Saturday. No appointments needed! We hope to see you soon at 2019 E White Ave Moscow, ID 83843.

Story
Gordita is the sweetest little bulldozer of a dog! She is a gorgeous pit bull mix and she's got the muscle and strength to prove it! Gordita is a big lover and just wants all the attention from her person and once she settles down from all her initial excitement, she will cuddle up for her favorite belly rubs!! Gordita can be a bit dog reactive here at the shelter with selective dogs so she would do best in a home without other animals, however, in the right circumstance, and proper introductions, meeting another dog is not off the table. She just likes to be the center of attention! Gordita loves destroying toys so he is only allowed to have the indestructible toys here at the shelter! She is also a big foodie and will devour any and all food and treats offered to her! (This makes training a breeze for her being so food motivated!) Gordita knows her basic commands but would definitely benefit from additional work on training! Gordita has lots of energy and would do great with an active owner that will take her on lots of walks and hikes and outdoor adventures! She would also do best with someone who can handle her strength and size! Gordita knows how to get the attention by giving you the biggest saddest puppy dog face ever! She's mastered the art of the puppy dog face and will absolutely melt your heart! If you would like to meet Gordita, please call us at (509) 332-3422 to schedule an appointment. You can also email us at staff@whitmanpets.org! Gordita is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all of her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $175.
