Story
thoroughly read descriptionMeet Ducky, an adorable 9-pound,3-year-old, Maltese with a personality as lively as his name suggests! Ducky joined the Misfits Dog Rescue in December 2023 after being surrendered to a shelter due to some behavioral challenges. Since then, we’ve been working hard with him, and while he’s made significant progress, he still has a bit of a spicy streak. Ducky is a little dynamo who absolutely loves playing fetch and would excel in agility training. He’s clever and eager to learn, although he does have a bit of trouble focusing at times. He’s also made great strides with his barking—he’s much quieter now and no longer as frantic as he used to be. One of Ducky’s key characteristics is his dominant nature. While he’s improved and gets along well with most dogs, he can occasionally be a bit of a bully. He’ll do best with an experienced owner who can provide consistent training and set clear boundaries. Potty training is still a work in progress for Ducky, partly because the shelter environment isn’t ideal for this type of training. However, he wears belly bands comfortably, which helps manage any accidents. Ducky would thrive in a home where he’s the only pet and where someone is around frequently to work with him. Despite his quirks, Ducky is incredibly cute, spunky, and full of personality. He’s friendly but can be protective due to his dominant nature, so it’s important that he knows you’re the boss. Ducky is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and chipped. If you think Ducky might be the perfect match for you, please visit www.misfitsdogrescue.org to learn more about adopting him.November 4, 2024, 1:31 pm

Story
Looking to rehome our dog Ranger. He is going to be 6 in November, adopted him when he was a puppy. He is a mix between boxer and retriever. He is fixed. Beautiful boy who loves to snuggle. Would love to rehome him to someone close by, who would keep us posted on his well being and would give him all the love and snuggles he deserves. He is an inside dog who also loves the outdoors and to sunbathe. Our boy Ranger has some behavioral issues with other animals and it’s required that he would be the only pet in the household. He was attacked multiple times at a young age and we think this is affecting him now. He should not get nose to nose with any other dog and be walked always on leash. He is very sweet, loves snuggles and pets all day, and very loyal. We will miss him dearly but we have had problems with him and our other dog wherein he is the instigator. He is potty trained, knows basic commands, etc. I can provide further details once in contact with whomever is interested.

THIS SHELTIE IS A PUPPY MILL SURVIVOR.  IT WILL TAKE TIME AND PATIENCE FOR HIM TO BEHAVE LIKE A "REAL DOG."  IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR THE PATIENCE, PLEASE LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR A DOG. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEARN MOPRE ABOUT UNDERSOCIALIZED DOGS AND HOW TO HELP THEM REHAB, YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE. A COMPLETED APPLICATION OS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD FOSTERING OR ADOPTING.  YOU WILL FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org. If you are happy and you know it...you must be Honeydew!  Honeydew is a 3-year-old intact male sable and white Sheltie.  (HE WILL BE NEUTERED VERY SOON.  WE PAY FOR IT AND IT IS NOT UP FOR DISCUSSION.)  In spite of him coming from a puppy mill, he is a cheerful little fellow.  He is light-boned and dances when he walks.  He does not walk far on a leash and needs slow encouragement not to be frightened.  He eats like a champ and will even take a treat from my hand.  He especially likes one of our volunteers and when Susan pulled into the driveway today, he got as brave as he could and walked right up to her.  (If you heard celebrating, that is what that was about.) Honeydew is UTD on all his vaccines and is microchipped with a Home Again chip that will be activated when he finds his forever family.  His bloodwork is fine and he is Heartworm negative.  All of that is well and good, as they say.  But you are looking at a long process of loving kindness to help this little dude be all he can be.  Agility perhaps???? If you really understand all of this and are still on board....let's talk.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

Story
A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED AS A FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY PLACEMENT.  GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org  AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE FORM.  WE WILL NOT HAVE ANY CONVERSATION UNTIL WE KNOW IF YOU MEET THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION.  SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND PREVIOUS COLLIE EXPERIENCE.  WE HATE DISAPPOINTING HUMANS, BUT WITH US, IT IS DOGGIES FIRST. Remy is the quintessential Collie.  She is a 4-year-old spayed female rough Collie with the glorious colors of Lassie in her coat.  Her beloved owner has found it necessary to move into assisted living and it is impossible for Remy to thrive in that kind of environment.  She needs walks and hikes and to pick up her kids after school and play games with them until dinner time and help with their homework.   Her health is excellent, her temperament is gentle and calm.  She loves everyone and everyone loves her.  When she is out for a walk, people stop them and ask to pet her.  I would too. Remy is a treasure and we will be looking for a family that will make every day a joy for her.  Please consider all of this carefully and only apply if you can provide a lifetime home with all the amenities.  Lassie would expect no less.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD FOSTERING OR ADOPTING.  YOU WILL FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org. Carebear is a work in progress with great potential.  He is a 3 or 4 year old mahogany sable male Sheltie that has a bigger frame and should weigh about 40 #.  He weighs 31# right now and is getting used to regular meals.  Today Carebear had his first dog biscuit....and WOW!  He has not been neutered yet but will be before he is adopted.  He has had all of the necessary vaccines and has a Home Again microchip.  Even his lifetime database entry is included in his adoption.  All of his medical care is on us. When I said that Carebear had his first ever dog biscuit today, I neglected to mention that he leaned forward and kissed me on the nose very gently.  When you build a bond with a neglected canine, that bond is a "through thick and thin" connection.  Carebear would love you like nobody's loved you, come rain or come shine. Let's talk.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am
