Story

Christopher is 3 1/2 yr old. I adopted him 1 yr ago not thinking far enough in the future. I am widowed, retired and on fixed income. I can’t afford to keep him. He’s a wonderful companion but has separation anxiety. I can’t leave him in a crate without drugging him so I take him to daycare when I have to be away from home. He loves people, will play with other dogs if I’m not there. He gets the zoomies once in a while when outside but is happy with a 1/2 hr walk daily. He walks on a loose lead unless there’s a rabbit around. His recall is not reliable. He does bark at everything moving past the house. He is funny when he’s wanting something like a rawhide bone. I have a video of one of those times. I acquired him from a man who’d had him for about 8 months and was moving to Wyoming..he didn’t want to take him with him. That person got him because the original owner said he barked too much. So, I’m his 3rd. He is smart and would benefit from training that I can’t afford.

Adorable Abby is a petite, 6 month old, Cattle Dog mix. Abby was dumped on a dirt road in Texas with a chihuahua friend. They were picked up and brought to a local rescue and then awaited transport to MHCR. Given what she’s been through, Abby is a bit reluctant to trust new people. She overcomes this fairly quickly and finds great comfort in her known humans and canines. Abby is crate trained and does well on a leash. She’s not a social butterfly but does enjoy jaunts around the block or even hikes! Abby is loyal to the core and smart as a whip. She is a professional cuddler when it comes time to settle down. Abby will thrive in a home that isn’t super busy and has older or no children. We also feel she’s best suited with another dog and a fenced yard. 🎶 Oh Mandy, baby, can’t you see? 🎶. Our girl Mandy has a little something for everyone! From spots to stripes, Mandy brings all the fun to wherever she is. She LOVES other canine friends and would really enjoy one in her forever home. She’s approx 1.5 years old and boasts house training and reluctant crate training (she tolerates the crate but doesn’t love it) on her resume. Mandy is looking for an active family with a fenced in yard. She’s been great with kiddos, however she is sometimes unaware of her size, so dog savvy kiddos are a plus! While her breed is a mystery, we think a Catahoula and a Pittie are likely in there, but who can be sure? Mandy would make an excellent running partner should you be an athletic type.
