Story
Rocky is a wonderful 1 year old pup who’s as smart as he is loving. He is highly intelligent, eager to learn, and full of energy; the perfect companion for an active person. He has grown up with another dog and two young children, and he does great with both. Rocky is e-collar trained, knows his basic commands and is completely house broken. We love him dearly, but he needs more activity and mental stimulation than we are currently able to provide. He would do best with a family that has plenty of room for him to stretch his legs, ideally a home with land or a large yard and people who enjoy adventures as much as he does. If you’re looking for a loyal, smart, and energetic companion who will keep up with your hikes, runs, and daily fun, Rocky will be the perfect fit.

Story
This loving little guy needs to find the right forever home. He is a sweetie and loves to cuddle and have his belly rubbed. He is a mini Aussie cardigan corgi mix, he is approximately 20 lbs and up to date on all his vaccinations, and was neutered on 10/9/25. Rex is high energy. He does great at home and with other dogs, but is reactive with strangers. He takes time to warm up to new people, but can when he is given the chance to approach on his own. He is 11 months old and would do best with someone who is experienced with training reactive dogs. He needs a yard for him to play in, and a person or people who have the ability to exercise him every day. He would love to have a runner to run with. He would be best in a home without children. He would also love to have another young dog to play with. He is untested with cats. He is vocal but settles well when he’s tired. He is crate trained and knows a few basic commands like sit and lie down. He is very very smart and food driven.

Story
Nala is a loving, 6.5-year-old female Jackabee born and raised in Texas with cats and large dogs. She is incredibly smart, energetic, and enjoys showing off her tricks, especially when it comes to a tasty snack from the garbage can, table tops, children's hands, etc. Cuddles, companionship, and treats are her love language. To this day, she can run & hike 3-5 miles without stopping. She can be trained with an electric collar to allow roaming during adventures, as this was her favorite way to explore the world using her incredibly keen sense of smell. A leash is manageable, but she pulls. Due to changes in circumstances, Nala needs an active home with patient, experienced owners who can provide regular exercise, structure, and enrichment. She is not recommended for homes with young kids. Nala is loyal, affectionate, and full of personality. If you're seeking an energetic companion for outdoor adventures and meaningful connection, she may be the perfect fit!

Details
Good with kids, Not good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meka is an 8-year-old spayed female Chinook/Carolina Dog/Heeler mix (best guess!) She’s smart and loving as she is active. She enjoys being outdoors, running, exploring, and joining in on adventures and shes just as happy to relax and cuddle once the day winds down. Meka is well-trained, attentive, and eager to please. Shes lived with a young child and does well overall but can get overstimulated with rough play. Recently, shes had some conflict with another female dog in her home, so shes looking for a pet-free household where she can be the center of attention. Shell thrive with an adopter who understands working or herding breeds and can provide structure, activity, and enrichment. A home with adults or older kids and a large fenced yard would be ideal. Meka has so much love and loyalty to give, she just needs the right match to help her shine. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who’s always ready for the next adventure, Meka could be your perfect fit.

Story
Oh Henley! Henley came to MHCR as part of a multi-dog group that was surrendered to the shelter in Roswell, NM by a backyard breeder. They were said to be great dane/pit mixes. Sweet Henley never broke 50 lbs – it seems the only thing dane about her is possibly her merle coat. Henley was an extremely shut down pup. She didn’t see much (if any) human kindness in her early days. She gets her confidence and comfort from the canine companions around her. Since entering foster care, Henley has had so much growth. She happily takes car rides now (and gets super excited to go). She also walks well on a leash. She can be found wrestling with her foster siblings or snoozing on the couch after a play session. Henley is crate trained (loves her kennel) and doggie door trained. She’s a one-woman type o’ gal and is looking for a human that also has a slight aversion to other human beings and visitors. When she settles in, she will provide lots of love and comfort, but she finds it difficult to settle into multi-human homes. Multi dog homes? Not an issue! That’s her jam! Henley is 1.5 years old. Henley is being fostered in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/henley/. Story
The Chihuahua genes run strong in Sweet Caroline! This darling little girl will be 8 weeks old soon and ready to go home after 12/3. She can be a teensy weensy bit shy at first, but quickly warms up and loves the company of other dogs. She and her littermates entered the system at only a week or two old as part of a hoarding case. They were transferred to a rescue and were hand raised until 6 weeks of age, at which point they joined MHCR. Caroline is in foster in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/caroline You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
