Story
Southpaw Rescue was contacted by a Good Samaritan after a video of a trembling dog in the San Bernardino Shelter went viral. Riley had been wondering a bad neighborhood for two months without being caught. Once in the shelter, Riley shut down and found himself on the euthanasia list within 72 hours. Southpaw Rescue was able to get to Riley and pull him within 15 min. of his cut off date for euthanasia. Like so many dogs, as soon as we pulled Riley, we realized he was one of the sweetest dogs you could meet. He lives for pleasing his foster mom. Riley is great with all the other dogs in the home, both big and small. He doesn't pull at all on the leash and enjoys hiking. Riley is learning his basic commands and has fallen into the home routine quickly. He would be good in a home with children, other dogs or as a single dog. He craves human affection and attention. Riley is a protector. When walking, he is constantly alert to his surroundings. If there is an unusual noise outside at night, he will alert you. If you are looking for an insanely loyal dog, look no further. https://www.southpawrescue.com/adoption-application

Story
Tuck is a young, neutered cattle dog mix who was rescued from the Riverside Shelter. Shelter vets estimate he’s about 1 year and 2 months old. Tuck is very friendly and well-behaved with people. While he was initially selective about which dogs he played with, after a few weeks in his foster home, he warmed up and now enjoys running around with the other dogs (mostly herding breeds and huskies). Full of puppy energy, Tuck loves playing fetch with a ball or Frisbee. He’s a sweet boy who thrives on companionship and would make an excellent Frisbee dog and hiking partner.

Story
Twiggy is a young, spayed Husky mix, likely with some Australian Cattle Dog, who was rescued from the Moreno Valley Shelter. She has a fun-loving, playful personality and gets along great with all the other foster dogs in her home. Twiggy loves to run around and wrestle, always in a friendly way, showing no signs of aggression. She would thrive in a home with at least one friendly, playful dog (or multiple friendly dogs). Twiggy adores affection—she’ll happily roll over for belly rubs and scratches. With her soft fur and sweet demeanor, her foster family finds her an absolute joy to have around.

Story
Meet Winnie! Here is what we know about her past: She was found in a field with her sister in Coachella Valley and taken to the shelter as a stray. Her sister was immediately adopted, but Winnie spent at least the next 127 days at the shelter. Winnie watched as roommate after roommate came in and was then adopted out. She played well with all of them until they went to their forever homes, leaving her behind. Someone must have really liked her at this high kill shelter, because despite the horrific sadness of spending so much time there, she managed to survive. Until they couldn't keep her any longer. Southpaw got an email with the dogs at the shelter who would be euthanized in the next 72 hours and 10-month-old Winnie, who hasn't even had a chance to live yet, was on the list. We went to bust her out. Here how that looked: https://youtu.be/oiZBSCoY-3k Here is what Winnie's life is like now: After giving her a much-needed bath, Winnie now wakes up after a good night's sleep in her foster mom's room. She spends her days playing with the other dogs in her foster home, taking fun walks to get exercise, taking naps and slaying it at being a good dog. Her future: Are you her perfect forever home? Winnie is extremely well behaved for her age and history, but she still has playful puppy energy. She is looking for a family who will shower her with the love she deserves. Ideally, Winnie would do best in a home with another dog her size to play with. Here she is playing with her foster brother and sisters: https://youtube.com/shorts/IHw1rCkVtnQ Winnie is shy around new people but quickly warms up if they give her a doggy treat and tell her she's a good girl. People often comment on her unique look since she is definitely mostly American Staffordshire Terrier, but she has more wire hair. If you think this unique, playful, well-mannered, fun-loving girl can be the right fit for your home, please fill out an application to set up a meet and greet. https://www.southpawrescue.com/adoption-application

Story
Meet Tilly, one of the cutest little fur balls you will ever meet. Tilly came to Southpaw through a friend of ours who saw him starving on the side of the road. She quickly pulled over, just to have Tilly run into the street and almost get hit by a school bus. Luckly, at the last minute, he turned around and ran into her arms. At the time, Tilly's ribs and entire spine were extremely visible. He was starving. But that is the past. With good food and plenty of love, Tilly is thriving in rescue. He is playful and sweet. He absolutely loves to cuddle. He is great with all people and dogs. He walks well on a leash but may need a bit of training to not pull so much. He is so excited for adventure. Tilly is looking for a forever home which can shower him with tons of love and affection. He likes to sit on his foster mom's lap and will let you carry him around like a baby. He likes to cuddle and watch TV and sleep near you. Tilly is set to get neutered, vaccinated and microchipped this week. If you are looking for a fun little dog who you can shower all your love and affection on, Tilly is your guy!
