Story

Southpaw Rescue was contacted by a Good Samaritan after a video of a trembling dog in the San Bernardino Shelter went viral. Riley had been wondering a bad neighborhood for two months without being caught. Once in the shelter, Riley shut down and found himself on the euthanasia list within 72 hours. Southpaw Rescue was able to get to Riley and pull him within 15 min. of his cut off date for euthanasia. Like so many dogs, as soon as we pulled Riley, we realized he was one of the sweetest dogs you could meet. He lives for pleasing his foster mom. Riley is great with all the other dogs in the home, both big and small. He doesn't pull at all on the leash and enjoys hiking. Riley is learning his basic commands and has fallen into the home routine quickly. He would be good in a home with children, other dogs or as a single dog. He craves human affection and attention. Riley is a protector. When walking, he is constantly alert to his surroundings. If there is an unusual noise outside at night, he will alert you. Story

Chobe was on borrowed time at the San Bernardino City Shelter when Southpaw pulled him. He had been reported running the streets of Redlands for over a month before he was caught and turned into the shelter. When his time was up, there was an outcry from the community to extend him by a day....but days go by quickly. Southpaw was able to pull him and get him into a temporary foster. Then, the next day, he was moved into his long-term foster less than 24 hours before the whole town was evacuated due to wildfires. Through it all, Chobe stayed calm. He looked toward his fosters for guidance. He followed his brand new, temporary pack. Chobe deserves a loving, kind, gentle, forever home who will care for him for the rest of his days. He has been through more than we will ever know, yet has kept his trust and kindness toward humans. Chobe is good with other dogs, both big and small. His foster family has cats, which scare him. One cat is okay, but two...he'd rather not. Chobe tends to gravitate toward the men in both his foster homes. He is loving with all the people and adores the children, but the men in the home he follows around. Chobe is the perfect rescue dog who will be happy going for walks or watching movies on the couch. He's a dog who will be gentle to everyone around him.

Story

Tuck is a young, neutered cattle dog mix who was rescued from the Riverside Shelter. Shelter vets estimate he’s about 1 year and 2 months old. Tuck is very friendly and well-behaved with people. While he was initially selective about which dogs he played with, after a few weeks in his foster home, he warmed up and now enjoys running around with the other dogs (mostly herding breeds and huskies). Full of puppy energy, Tuck loves playing fetch with a ball or Frisbee. He’s a sweet boy who thrives on companionship and would make an excellent Frisbee dog and hiking partner.

She has a fun-loving, playful personality and gets along great with all the other foster dogs in her home. Twiggy loves to run around and wrestle, always in a friendly way, showing no signs of aggression. She would thrive in a home with at least one friendly, playful dog (or multiple friendly dogs). Twiggy adores affection—she’ll happily roll over for belly rubs and scratches. With her soft fur and sweet demeanor, her foster family finds her an absolute joy to have around.

Rerun is a young, neutered male Border Collie who was rescued from the Apple Valley Shelter. On his first day out of the shelter, his foster dad took him on a big hike, and Rerun handled it like a seasoned pro. Although Rerun doesn’t have a strong herding instinct typical of Border Collies, he loves playing with other dogs around his size. He can be a bit shy around larger dogs and takes some time to trust them. Rerun has excellent recall and comes when called. He shares a special bond with his foster mate, Twiggy (https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/42773871-forest-falls-california-husky-australian-cattle-dog-mix). While they came from different shelters and aren’t considered bonded, they are best friends, and we’d love to see them adopted together. Rerun would thrive in a home with another playful dog his size or with an active person who has time to spend with him.
