Hanai is super sweet and loving. She is great company. I am no longer able to take care of her due to poor housing quality and always gone since I work 13 hour shift sometimes 24 hrs shift. She is lonely at the time and I am terrible sorry to have made the decision to rehome her but she needs a better home than I can offer at this time.

Story
According to his DNA test, this cool dude is Enzo, a Shepadoodle mix. He was born in January, 2021. He weighs about 45 pounds. He has a fun, funky, curly mohawk down his back. Enzo knows: Sit, down, heel, right & left turn, down at a distance, 'go to your crate', and other commands. He waits and makes eye contact for treats and his dinner. He knows tricks, too. He did very well in an Intro to Nosework class. Enzo is house trained and uses the dog door. He is also crate trained. He uses the crate to relax and sleep. Enzo is good with anyone kind and appropriate. The calm kids he's met have been able to give him treats for tricks or pets. On hikes and walks he gets a little shy of people approaching and just prefers some distance. He will get curious and want to sniff if new people direct their attention away from him. Treats are a great icebreaker for him. Enzo is good with other dogs. He loves to play and even shares toys with dogs, initiating tug games with them. Enzo loves fetching rope toys and floppy toys. He loves sharing his toys with his people and will find toys to bring to initiate a game. Enzo is good in the car in a crate and can get excited when he is going somewhere he likes. Enzo is good on leash and can be uncertain sometimes with new situations. A confident dog pal helps him see that it's all ok. Enzo is best on quiet streets and hikes, so being a city dog isn't the life for him. Enzo will thrive in a home that is fair, kind, and keeps him busy so he isn't bored. He is a happy, fun-loving young dog who is up for anything fun and loves to learn. He has a lot of potential as a fun adventuring/sporting companion. We see him living with a young active couple or family who have a yard to play in, can take him for hikes and make him a big part of their lives. Enzo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is located in SoCal. Adopters must be able to meet and adopt here. We do not ship our dogs. A home visit and vet reference are required.

Story
The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application  first by visiting our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    Troy, born 5/5/22, is a 2 year old chocolate and tan Mini Dachshund. Troy weighs 11 pounds. Troy is the sweetest and happiest little guy. He loves attention, loves to be cuddled and loves to sleep glued to you. He cannot sleep close enough to you. Troy loves toys! Troy will empty the toy box and play with every single toy. If you put them back in the toy box, he will get them all back out. Troy loves to play chase outside with his foster doggie siblings and enjoys chasing bugs. Troy is dog door trained and enjoys the freedom to come and go as he pleases. Troy gets along great with other dogs and would be fine for older kids. Troy is great with small children, but we will not place him in a home with small children because he does snatch food from tiny hands and has not learned to be gentle. Troy has not been cat tested, so we would not trust him around cats. Troy loves to play with his doggie siblings and we means loves to play! **Troy does have Rhinitis. He will get a stuffy nose at times. He may need meds periodically throughout his life if he has flare ups of his Rhinitis. In early February he had a complete nasal flush by a specialist. Troy has remained clear, happy and healthy since. Even when Troy had a nose full of mucus, before he was treated, he never had a bad day. Troy is always, ALWAYS happy, active and super playful. Nothing gets in the way of a good day for him!  Troy is all ready for his new home and he must have a home with a playful doggie sibling to keep him company. Troy does love to talk to his people and his doggie siblings, so apartments or condos are probably not best, unless you do not want to be friends with your neighbors.  Troy’s adoption fee: $600We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found.Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day. If we all agree on the placement, then the dog will stay with you that day.  Please visit our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    March 17, 2025, 3:37 pm

Story
I acquired Dexter from a friend. He is a spunky, loving, cuddly 8 year old dog. Dexter has a condition called cerebella hypoplasia . This affects his coordination and walking. He has the ability to use all of his legs however, he is unable to balance for long periods of time which results in a lot of rolling around. In spite of this he has the best spirit out of any dog I have ever been around. He knows his name when you call him, he can fetch (it may take him a little longer than other dogs to bring the ball back to you), and he is potty trained in doors. Dexter doesn't do a lot of walking on his own so he needs help to get to food, water, and to bring outside to go to the bathroom. Although he knows not to potty inside I use a diaper for him just in case for accidents. I know all of this sounds intimidating but he truly is the most loveable dog you will ever have the pleasure of knowing. This is not something I ever wanted to do but I currently do not have a choice.

Story
We rescued Kells 4 years ago and after getting her discovered that she is mostly deaf. We noticed early on that Kells displayed signs of aggression towards children and other dogs in the home. She attacked our older dog several times and would lunge at children and occasionally adult guests in our home. She also has severe separation anxiety. We spent thousands of dollars on training and have trialed several anxiety medications both prescription and non prescription. While we’ve done our best to manage this behavior, we are now in a situation where we have a newborn in the house. For the safety of both Kells and our family, we feel it is in her best interest to find her a new home where she can thrive in an environment better suited to her needs. She is very affectionate to my wife and I, and we believe she could do well in a home without young children, without a dog with a dominant personality and without many visitors
