Story
According to his DNA test, this cool dude is Enzo, a Shepadoodle mix. He was born in January, 2021. He weighs about 45 pounds. He has a fun, funky, curly mohawk down his back. Enzo knows: Sit, down, heel, right & left turn, down at a distance, 'go to your crate', and other commands. He waits and makes eye contact for treats and his dinner. He knows tricks, too. He did very well in an Intro to Nosework class. Enzo is house trained and uses the dog door. He is also crate trained. He uses the crate to relax and sleep. Enzo is good with anyone kind and appropriate. The calm kids he's met have been able to give him treats for tricks or pets. On hikes and walks he gets a little shy of people approaching and just prefers some distance. He will get curious and want to sniff if new people direct their attention away from him. Treats are a great icebreaker for him. Enzo is good with other dogs. He loves to play and even shares toys with dogs, initiating tug games with them. Enzo loves fetching rope toys and floppy toys. He loves sharing his toys with his people and will find toys to bring to initiate a game. Enzo is good in the car in a crate and can get excited when he is going somewhere he likes. Enzo is good on leash and can be uncertain sometimes with new situations. A confident dog pal helps him see that it's all ok. Enzo is best on quiet streets and hikes, so being a city dog isn't the life for him. Enzo will thrive in a home that is fair, kind, and keeps him busy so he isn't bored. He is a happy, fun-loving young dog who is up for anything fun and loves to learn. He has a lot of potential as a fun adventuring/sporting companion. We see him living with a young active couple or family who have a yard to play in, can take him for hikes and make him a big part of their lives. Enzo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is located in SoCal. Adopters must be able to meet and adopt here. We do not ship our dogs. A home visit and vet reference are required.

Story
The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application  first by visiting our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    Ritzy, born 7/4/2024 is a Dachshund mix. Ritzy is a 7 month old red colored Dachshund mix. He is a sensitive little guy. He is a Mini Dachshund with long legs. Ritz weighed 11 pounds at his vet visit. Ritzy, like a little Ritz cracker. He is shy, and confused at why he lost his home. Ritzy came to the rescue with his brother from a family that could no longer keep them. Sadly they were very under socialized. They also had only been using potty pads, so were not house broken. The dogs had never been outside the home. When the family dropped them off at the foster home, the dogs would scream when we would touch them. We had our work cut out for us. Luckily, we have very well adjusted dogs and that’s helps.   Ritzy has become such a happy puppy. He loves to play. He enjoys running and wrestling. Ritzy loves squeaky toys. What he loves even more to cuddle. Ritzy is hand shy, so we are working on letting him know that we won’t hurt him. Ritzy is working on crate training for housebreaking. He learning to use the doggie door in 5 seconds. He loves to sleep in the big bed. He does have separation anxiety, but that’s normal with a dog losing his home, and it goes away once they realize you will always come back for them. Ritzy will be shy again once he goes to a new family, but just as he settled in he will do the same. Ritz is looking for someone who understands that he is going to need a little love and a lot of patience in the beginning, but it will pay off in puppy kisses!    Ritzy’s adoption fee: $350We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found.Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day. If we all agree on the placement, then the dog will stay with you that day.  Please visit our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    February 9, 2025, 11:31 pm

Story
I acquired Dexter from a friend. He is a spunky, loving, cuddly 8 year old dog. Dexter has a condition called cerebella hypoplasia . This affects his coordination and walking. He has the ability to use all of his legs however, he is unable to balance for long periods of time which results in a lot of rolling around. In spite of this he has the best spirit out of any dog I have ever been around. He knows his name when you call him, he can fetch (it may take him a little longer than other dogs to bring the ball back to you), and he is potty trained in doors. Dexter doesn't do a lot of walking on his own so he needs help to get to food, water, and to bring outside to go to the bathroom. Although he knows not to potty inside I use a diaper for him just in case for accidents. I know all of this sounds intimidating but he truly is the most loveable dog you will ever have the pleasure of knowing. This is not something I ever wanted to do but I currently do not have a choice.

Story
Kona is a 6 year old puppy. She enjoys going on walks and visiting a park. She loves having little kids in the house because she loves that they are the same size! She is incredibly cuddly, and if you kick your legs back you might find her rubbing her back under your legs like a cat. She is incredibly food motivated and has her basic training commands down. My family and I took her in my brother went to the military, but she needed more from us than we could provide. She is an amazing house dog and is EXTREMELY loyal. Kona loves a good hike and some push-ups, but is always ready to cuddle up on the bed with you. She likes going on random adventures, so she enjoys leaving the house with you to explore.

Story
Hennessey is very cuddly and sweet. She will love to be right next to you. She will prefer to sleep with you so hopefully thats ok. She has food agression so a home with young children is not advisable. We've had her since she was a puppy. She adores playing fetch. Shes a great hiking partner. We are now homelessnd and feel that she deserves a stable and loving home. She gets along well with smaller dogs and most cats. We hope that you will love her as we do.
