Story
Freddy was chained at a property in Cancun. Very short chain with limited access to food and water. He was very thin with skin issues, and basically neglected, yet his sunny disposition still shone. After being rescued, he blossomed into an incredible dog. Somewhat territorial with other males (his "job" having been to protect the property where he'd been living); he does get along with most dogs and all people. He has a sweet, inherent spirit. From our website: FREDDY✨ 😎 Breed: terrier/australian shepherd mix 🐶 Age 3 years 🌍 Location: Cancun, Mexico but we will bring him to Lake Tahoe for adoption in the future 💙 Male 📏 Size: medium ⚖️ Weight: 12 kg (26 lbs) 🩺Vetting: Full vaccine complete, Puppy, Quíntuple Rabies, Bordatella. Dewormed, Spayed/ Neutered, 4DX snap, Nexgarde/Simparica. Healthy. 💃Energy: ACTIVE 🐶Dog Friends: Yes 🐱Cat Friends: We think so. He seems to not react to cats at all beyond normal curiosity. There were cats at the property he was rescued from, along with ducks. 👧🏽 Friends: Yes – he has been friendly with dogs but he can be unpredictable. He can react to other male dogs but seems to do fine with females (in his space).. He is an ACTIVE absolutely loving boy and definitely one’s best friend ⛓Leash etiquette: Yes 🥘 Resource guarding: He was chained to a tree for 3 years so food is his main interest for now He is very obedient when spoken to and well behaved but needs a little of basic training, everything is new for him 📣 Bark/noisy: Will bark only to communicate and sometimes when he is excited and happy 🏡 Housebroken: Yes ⛓ Leash etiquette: Yes ! 🚙 Good in car: Yes, calm in the car! TEMPERAMENT FREDDY is an incredibly sweet and loving dog, very calm. He would make for a great companion to someone who is looking for a companion, he loves to be around people and Freddy is beginning to explore the world. He also would be great with a family, as he already has shown gentle affection. Freddy is currently working with a trainer in Cancun to overcome his territorial issues. We would love him to go to a very special person/family due to his rough beginning. With the right people, he will make a very good companion.

Story
PERLA (also known as Nala) Age 4 years Breed: lab/chihuahua mix, also beagle/Jack Russell? (we're guessing!) Location: Lake Tahoe Nevada Female Size: Small/Medium Weight: 32 pounds She is microchipped and spayed Energy: She is very calm, the perfect company for a person with medium/ low activity or outdoors because she loves to play and walk but also she likes to cuddle in. She is amazingly loving and she loves you to hug her and care for her . Dog Friends: Yes, she is a very happy and loving dog Children Friends: Yes – we think so. She was rescued from the streets where there were children. Leash etiquette: Yes, she is good on the leash, for the most part, but she needs more work. Resource Guarding: Happily shares toys and we have to watch over food a little but she eats with other dogs perfectly fine. She is good at hearing commands and very obedient when spoken to. Perla is perfect for families with a yard, and long walks. She is cautious when meeting new people. She does not instantly warm up to new situations but once she accepts you as her person, she is love all the way. She has not shown any signs of aggression towards people but she is slightly possessive in a home situation with other dogs who come in after her. If you’re reading this, then you probably have room in your life for another best friend. Well, Perla is more than qualified for the role. She is very independent She is highly responsive to eye contact, a joyful greeting, and a long pet and belly rub. Bark/noisy: She barks when dogs are passing by but not excessively. She is very good with dogs but then she doesn’t make her self noticed. She is timid and approaches other dogs with a tiny bit of fear. She needs time to get used to other dogs in her space but is OK with dogs you meet while on a walk. Housebroken: Yes Leash etiquette: Yes Good in car: Yes, calm in the car TEMPERAMENT Perla is an incredibly loving female who is very calm and outgoing. She is house trained. RESCUE STORY She was rescued outskirts Cancun with her litter of babies, she stayed for a month or two in the municipal shelter when finally I freed space at Paws in Action to receive her at our shelter. You will be happy to have her as a companion. Please visit our YouTube channel for more videos of Perla and other dogs: https://youtu.be/gddZ2-K6DXY UPDATE: Perla was in our Cancun shelter for three months while she recovered from her ordeal on the streets. She lived happily with many other dogs and was introduced to different situations. She is SLOW to warm up. We are looking for a person with LOTS of patience to coax her out of her shell. She will need time to feel that she is safe. She has been with me in Lake Tahoe for a couple of weeks. She is still a bit nervous, takes her time meeting new people. She has been territorial with a dog twice her size who came here after her. She is perfectly fine with the four cats in the home. She does not chase them. She is interested in them and they in her but they have yet to play. I think that will take some time. She has shown some interest in the litter box, we are working on that. Update: she is over her interest in the litter box. She is easily trained. Probably best if she goes to a home without other dogs or only small dogs with meek dispositions. I think that she will want to dominate other dogs in the home and that can work as long as the different personalities allow it. Update: she LOVES my two big dogs. It took her a couple of days but she loves being a part of this pack. She plays rowdily with both of them, sometimes all three of them together! She is VERY sweet! She does well on walks. When her friends were here (we bring four dogs at a time), she was very playful. She is kennel trained and is completely content in her kennel. On the occasions I've had to leave, she gets the run of the house (because she can be trusted) but when I return, she is typically snuggled in her kennel. She has short hair so needs warm blankets to snuggle with at night (my house is pretty cold!) She does not bark excessively. She has shown no sign of aggression toward people or animals (only territorial). She really is an angel. She is looking for a very special person. Once she accepts you as her person, she is very loving and loyal. Update number 2: Perla was adopted and was not treated well. She was not socialized or exposed to anything outside of the house (yes, we are very distressed at choosing so badly for her). She will need some work to get back to her sweet self. She also was allowed to become overweight (she probably weighs about 35 pounds when she should weigh 25 pounds). She will need good exercise. Please, we need someone GOOD for her because she is such a doll. Only you can bring her back to what she was. Update: in the three weeks or so that she has been back with me, she has made tremendous progress. She is learning to meet new people, she LOVES my two big dogs and she is fine with the cats. She is a gem. With our exercise program, she has lost weight. Eventually we will get her back to a good weight, which I think will be between 28 and 30 pounds.
