Story
Hans is a big, goofy sweetheart. He loves other dogs and would enjoy a friend to play with. He currently lives with a couple of tiny chihuahuas who chase him and bite his legs - he just moves away to a safe spot. He's a big snuggler, but kicks wildly in his sleep (he's the most vivid dreamer ever), so recently he's been trained not to go on the bed. He loves being outside most of all. Somewhere that he has land to roam would be perfect. He doesn't stray far from home, but currently has a tiny yard that he's eager to get out of. He does pull on his leash. He is a suspected distemper survivor and had a seizure under anesthesia during his neuter procedure, so he cannot have any anesthesic procedures unless it's life-saving. His teeth/breath are pretty gnarly, but his big personality makes up for it in spades. He will chase cats, (but once lived with a squirrel) so it's probably best that he doesn't go to home with one.

Story
Lacey is one lucky pup! She came to AFRP from a local vet clinic after needing emergency surgery to remove a 26" shoe lace from her intestines. Happily, Lacey has recovered beautifully and she's feeling great. Lacey is a happy and playful 4-year-old, 11-pound terrier mix that gets along nicely with other small dogs. (She is reactive with large dogs.) She can be a bit fearful and anxious with new people and new situations, but once she feels secure her fun personality emerges. Lacey is a smart and somewhat stubborn and headstrong girl that is doing great with her potty training. She's looking for an experienced adult adopter (no kids) with time to give her lots of attention, can head-off negative behaviors and can consistently encourage good manners. She requires a friendly and playful small dog buddy in the home. Lacey can jump very high and she's an agile climber, so a very secure yard is a must. She has a history of pica (eating non-food items) and although she is doing well in her foster home, this is something an adopter should be aware of. Lacey is currently in foster care. To arrange a meeting with Lacey or to learn more about her, please fill out an online application.

Story
Fall in love with Sidney, the cutest little pup around! Like most Terriers, Sidney acts like she's a big dog trapped in a tiny package. Currently, in foster care, Sidney has made a lot of progress since coming to AFRP as a fearful stray from Hitchcock Road Animal Services. She has warmed up to her foster family and enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home, both large and small. From the first moment, she considered herself the queen of the house who owns all toys. She recently graduated from basic obedience training, and her foster family plans to continue her training while she waits for her right match to come along. She still is very reactive and very vocal in new situations. Patience and consistency are required when meeting new people. Once she is comfortable with you she is the ultimate lover. Sidney enjoys playing with toys and romping in the yard. Sidney is doing well with her potty training when taken outside regularly. Sidney feels secure in her own home. She is still very reactive when going to unfamiliar places or meeting strangers. When going for walks, she's working on not barking at everyone she sees! Sidney will do best with an adopter that is familiar with the needs of small reactive dogs and can work with her to build confidence. Due to her reactive nature, we are seeking an adult-only family. Sidney is a flight risk and needs a secure yard and a home with baby gates to prevent door-dashing. Sidney is also seeking a home with no cats. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our online adoption application.

Story
Meet Archer (otherwise known as Archie)! Archer is mixed breed with a gorgeous brindle coat and big brown eyes. This handsome guy came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services diagnosed with parvovirus. After veterinary treatment and rest, Archer won the long hard battle and is now excited to run, play, and live his best life. He is all about play, especially if squeaky toys are involved, is very treat-motivated, and loves cuddling on the couch. You just have to meet him and you'll instantly fall in love. Archer is looking for an active adopter who can help continue his puppy training and socialization with consistency. He would love a home with a fenced backyard and will do best with children 10 and up. He also would love a home with another dog of similar size/energy, or he would be okay as a single dog as well. He also gets along well with cats that are dog-friendly and properly introduced. Archer has received general obedience training, and completed a training course with the Unchained program. He would benefit from on-going training as needed. Archie's adoption fee has been sponsored by Felipe De La Cruz!! This means his adoption fee is waived for his future lucky adopter! Archer is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online application.

Story
Meet Zoe! She's a beautiful young girl with shiny fur and sleek figure. She can be quite shy and a little fearful when meeting new people, but she warms up quite quickly, especially with a treat or two. Once she gets to know you, she's very affectionate, loves to cuddle and join in on all of your activities. Zoe is still quite young and has a good amount of energy. She enjoys going for brisk walks and playing in the yard. She does very well with other dogs and cats. Due to her shyness, she'd do best in a home without young children. She tends to bond strongly with her person so we are looking to place her in a home where someone is home much of the time and where there is another dog for companionship when you are not around. Zoe is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online application.

Story
Introducing Zaida! This sweet girl came to AFRP after she was found along the side of a road where a good samaritan stopped to help her. Now, she's thriving in foster care and ready to find her forever home! Zaida is your typical active girl, very treat-motivated and loving as can be! Her favorite things are giving kisses, playing ball and going for walks. Zaida loves being around and playing with other dogs and loves being the center of attention! She thoroughly enjoys belly rubs and tennis balls... ESPECIALLY enjoys tennis balls. She's not an apartment pup and will require a fenced-in yard to ensure she's able to have some space to get all of that energy out! Her daily routine is playing with her foster sisters, running around the backyard and loves small and large breeds alike. She is learning more every day and is continuing working on training and socialization with other dogs. Zaida would do just fine in a home with adult adopters or with families with dog-savvy children over the age of six but can get excited at times and we don't want her knocking over littles! While in our care, Zaida has been diagnosed with idiopathic head tremor syndrome (IHTS), a benign condition characterized by focal head tremors of unknown cause. While this condition is not fully understood, Zaida's continuous head and body tremors are managed as part of her unique journey. Tremors do resolve over time, but some, such as Zaida, have continuous head and body tremors. Alongside this, Zaida is currently taking long-term medication to help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, as well as OCD. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online dog application.
