Story
Kay is a lovely girl who has been coming out of her shell and is turning into a social pup. She bonds quickly to humans and likes to stay very close. She doesn’t seem to have any issues with other dogs, and passes them calmly, as long as they don't get too close to her preferred human friend. She is friendly and loving, and will make a great addition to just about any home. Kay is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in her, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Kay might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member. Thank you for your support!

Story
Xavier is a striking Husky mix with a beautiful coat and vibrant personality. This lovable boy is a volunteer favorite, and it’s easy to see why. Xavier is incredibly friendly with people and is always eager to make new human friends. He thrives in an environment where he can get lots of attention and exercise, so an active household would be perfect for him. When it comes to outings, Xavier is a dream on a leash. He walks beautifully, stays focused, and is easy to handle, making him a joy on walks, runs, or hikes and he seems to be housetrained, making him a well-behaved companion indoors as well! A fenced yard would be ideal for him to burn off his energy, but he also enjoys a good mental challenge, so puzzle toys or interactive games are a great way to keep him entertained. He’s not a fan of other dogs encroaching on his space and would do best in a setting where he can have all the attention to himself, so a home without other dogs would make him the happiest. Xavier’s Husky instincts also mean he’s not a fan of cats—he tends to pester them, so a cat-free home is a must. If you're looking for a loyal, adventurous companion who will keep you active and engaged, Xavier might just be the perfect fit.

I'm a sweet and sensitive girl who can't wait to bring years of loving canine joy into your home! I am at just the right age to enjoy getting exercise in the neighborhood or at the park, having fun with stuffies, and then relaxing with you in my favorite comfy spots in the house. Maybe I can curl up next to you while we catch the latest Netflix? Sounds great to me. Please know I do have a ongoing condition which requires straight-forward meds, and will thrive best in a mellow home (no young kids, please). Feel free to inquire for more information. With just a little extra TLC, I will blossom my affection and be your loving companion for now and always! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 2.17 Age: 6yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
Jake is a vibrant young dog bursting with curiosity and a zest for life. Growing up in the shelter has made Jake a bit wary of new people, as he's still learning who he can count on. However, once he gets to know you, Jake truly shines! He's friendly, affectionate, and loves engaging with staff and volunteers. He is especially sociable with other dogs, making him a great candidate for a multi-dog household if introductions go well. He's outgoing, eager to explore, and always ready for the next adventure! Jake has some typical puppy habits, like jumping up to greet people when he gets excited, so he’ll need a family that’s patient and committed to consistent training to help him polish his manners. But he’s a quick learner, and with his treat motivation and desire to please, he’s sure to catch on fast! He’s also been working on his housetraining and is getting better each day, so with a little guidance, he’ll soon have that mastered too. If you’re ready to put in the time, Jake will reward you with loyalty, love, and an unbreakable bond. He’s all set to grow into a devoted, lifelong family member, ready to make his forever home the happiest place on earth!

Story
Shampers is a tender-hearted, shy girl who needs just a little time and patience to feel safe with new people. She's naturally curious, though, and with a slow, gentle approach, she’ll start checking you out in no time. Once she realizes you’re a friend, she’ll quietly start following along, often tagging behind her person on walks, as if she's trying to stay in the background while still enjoying your company. Loud noises can make Shampers anxious, but in our playroom, she’s beginning to find her confidence. When it comes to other dogs, Shampers really comes alive. Her playful side emerges when she feels safe, and she thrives in the presence of calm, confident dogs who help her feel secure and bring out her playful, carefree side. She looks to them for reassurance, and their companionship shows her that people and the world around her aren't as intimidating as they might seem. She might be hesitant to ask for attention at first, but once you start petting her, she won’t want you to stop! She’s a young dog, full of potential, and just waiting for the right person to show her that the world isn’t so scary after all.

Story
Meet Leva, a young dog with a heart of gold and a gentle soul. Leva is shy at first and can be cautious around new people, but once she learns to trust you, her affectionate side shines through and she’ll shower you with endless cuddles, snuggles, and playful energy, becoming your loyal companion for life! Leva came in as a stray alongside her sister, who was very protective, making it hard for Leva to explore the world on her own. As a result, she’s still a bit unsure about her surroundings, but with the help of staff and volunteers, Leva is steadily gaining confidence. She would love a home with a yard and she’s especially good with other dogs, so having a calm, confident dog in her new home could help her feel more secure as she learns to love the world around her. She’s smart, highly engaged, and with time, patience, and lots of love, we know she will grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. Leva is eager to find her forever home where she can continue her journey of growth and blossom into the best companion you could ever wish for!
