Story
Focused, determined and powerful. Monte is the most lovable bull in a china shop you will meet.  Monte knows many commands including: come, sit, down, stay, heel, and place.   Although he is trained, Monte is a very excitable/energetic boy who will need lots of walks and play time.  He is not aggressive with other dogs, but can become over-stimulated, so would be best as the only dog in the home and without young children.     Monte is a big boy and has lots of personality.  He is great with people and loves everyone he meets.  You just have to watch out for his whole body wiggle and whip of a tail!   There is never a dull moment when Monte is around.  Monte will need a home where his training will be reinforced with structure and exercise, and where he can give all the love and cuddles you want!    *Please complete our online application for further consideration.  We do best fit for both dog and family, and completing an application is not a guarantee of approval.  November 5, 2024, 10:53 am

Story
Hey fans, Elvis here. What’s that? I’m a hunka, hunka burning love. Well, you got that right. Just look at me.  My mesmerizing eyes, my gorgeous amber coat, the cutest ears ever and muscles that don’t quit. The volunteers say I am the complete package and I’d have to agree. WOOF! Boy, they know me from nose to tail.  I am a little aloof, but love to be loved. Rub my ears, give me a treat and I melt, but spending quality time with my family means the world to me.. I look forward to my daily walks and start off cautiously checking out my surroundings and sniffing all the fabulous smells. Move slowly, give me a little time and space and once I feel grounded it’s giddy up and go, go, go. I do have a little, secret, I also like to jog. When I get the urge, off I go trotting along with the wind in my ears, a smile on my face and you in tow. These short bursts, often called High Intensity Training (HIT), make me one good looking pup and is great for your health too. It’s a win, win for you and me. Another little secret.. I do need to be the only pet in the home.  No dogs or cats and no dog beach/dog park.  You see, I'm ok being around other dogs, but I'm not one to share my personal space!  I have even worked with a trainer on how to be well behaved, and you will definitely need to be on board to continue my awesome training! So dear friends, if you are looking for a hunka, hunka burning love who has it going on, I am the family member for you. Trust me, you won’t regret it. I will fill your hearts with endless love, wags and kisses and you get to say, “ Elvis is in the house!” *no other pets/adult home only/no apartment! Need big dog experience, no first time dog owners!  *Please complete our online application for further consideration.  We do best fit for both dog and family, and completing an application is not a guarantee of approval.November 5, 2024, 10:53 am

Story
Introducing... BRANDY! She is about 4 years old and a who knows what mix! Brandy came back to us after being adopted a few years ago and is a bit confused as to what happened.  In addition to the stresses of being brought back, she had to have almost her whole tail amputated due to an ongoing infection.  Needless to say, she has been through it all and is a bit stressed with shelter life, although we are doing everything we can to keep her content and comfortable. Brandi can be aloof when meeting new people (can we blame her!), but with some patience and not being too forceful, she’ll come around and love you. Brandy loves to play and loves to go on her walks! She would do best as a solo pet in a quiet home with not a lot of people, and no small kids since they tend to move so fast!  Brandy completed board and train and any potential adopter will need to follow through with additional training.  She may require multiple visits, but she is worth the patience. Big dog experienced home.  No apartments, kids, other pets.  Must follow through with training. *Please complete our online application for further consideration.  We do best fit for both dog and family, and completing an application is not a guarantee of approval.November 5, 2024, 10:53 am

Story
Maverick is very smart and knows his commands: come, sit, down, stay, heel, place, and leave it.  He is a confident boy and very playful, but needs structure and proper leadership. Maverick would make a great companion for an active dog owner.  He's social with other dogs, but can be pushy, so he would do best as the only dog in the home or with a submissive female. He would thrive in a quiet active home with no children.  Maverick is very food and toy motivated, and loves to learn new tricks! He had issues with resource guarding and impulse control, so any potential adopters must be willing to reinforce his training to ensure his next home is his forever home and set him up for success, and not failure.   *Please complete our online application for further consideration.  We do best fit for both dog and family, and nothing is a guarantee of approval.November 5, 2024, 10:53 am

Story
Nettie is a stunning, 1 year old Belgian Malinois that was found running loose and scared. A couple people were able to catch her, and brought her in to the shelter. Unfortunately her owners never came to claim her during her hold. So now she is up for adoption! Nettie quickly became a popular girl here at the shelter, as almost every volunteer seems to be in love with her. She just LOVES to play ball, and even brings it back to you to throw. When her tennis balls get too dirty, she goes over to the water bowls to clean them off. Such a smart girl! Nettie loves her long walks and jogs with the volunteers, and any time they spend cuddling with her in her run. When she first came to the shelter, it was clear Nettie had never been socialized with other dogs. She was fearful of them and would become reactive. Little by little she got better passing dogs on her walks. Eventually she was able to move to an outdoor run that shared a fence with other dogs. Nettie began ding play bows! This was a new side to Nettie we had never seen, in her time here she ended up sort of desensitizing herself to the other dogs. So we loaded her up and dropped her off at board and train for 2 weeks so she could learn how to properly socialize with other dogs! Nettie did AMAZING!! and now she loves to play with other pups! Watching her run around the yard with anywhere from 8 to 12 dogs at training, with the biggest smile on her face, was just the proof that we made the right call in sending her over. Now she is back at the shelter and even has a roommate to spend her days playing with!! Nettie would make a great companion in a single dog home, however, it is clear that she would LOVE to go home with another medium to large sized dog. While she loves people, Nettie is NOT comfortable around children. She is scared of them and reacts negatively. If she were to go home to a family with kids, they would need to be 16 years or older. The shelter would have the final say on if Nettie was comfortable enough to go home to kids of that age as well, after meeting. She is a beautiful girl with stunning coloring. Nettie has done the work and is so ready for her forever home!!! Are you a Malinois lover and looking to come down and meet Nettie? Fill out a short form or full application and somebody will call you to set up an appointment!November 5, 2024, 10:53 am
