Story
7 month old Bandit was rescued by a kind animal lover who then was told by her landlord she could not keep him.  He is now in a GSROC foster home where he is being socialized with other dogs and people.  He is housebroken and likes other dogs. Bandit is a typical puppy – filled with energy and exuberance.  He loves to romp, play and have a grand ole time.  Due to his exuberance, we recommend homes with school age children or older.  Toddlers and little children may be knocked over by Bandit while he plays. Bandit knows the importance of learning his puppy social skills and he is eager to learn all he can.  He knows how important it is and can’t wait to get started. Please remember, adopting a puppy is not everyone’s cup of tea.  As cute as they are – puppies demand a large investment of time, patience, and training.  They are inquisitive, have endless energy and get into just about everything.  They dig, chew, and seemingly never stop! Think long and hard about your lifestyle. If you are not willing to invest the time and training to ensure your puppy matures into the wonderful dog – then please consider an older dog. Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: /https://www.gsroc.org/application/  An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation. Story
2 year old Cosmo did not delay when he discovered our volunteer was there to spring him from that shelter.   He popped right up, wagging his tail and hustled over to stand right next to our volunteer. Now that he is with us, our volunteers are taking time to get to know him.  He is a friendly guy who gets along with other dogs and likes people.  He knows some of his commands and is eager to work on refining his leash manners.   He is alert to his surroundings and has a doggy smile on his face as he glances around. Story
18 month old Angelo lost his home due to divorce and landed in a shelter.  The shelter staff contacted GSROC as he had quickly become a shelter favorite. Angelo spent a few days at the home of one of our volunteers.   He is a happy guy who got along well with the other dogs in her home.  Angelo is always ready to play and have fun.  After all – he still has lots of puppy playfulness inside. This boy sometimes takes his role of protector a bit too seriously.  He needs an experience owner who will provide him with the structure and limits he craves.   For that reason, we recommend him for a quieter, adult home . Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: /https://www.gsroc.org/application/  An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation. Story
3 year old Rumi has a strong personality and needs an experienced owner that will provide her with the limits and structure she craves.  She takes her protector role very seriously and needs an owner that will show her how to relax and enjoy her life. High fences are needed for this girl as she is very agile.   Rumi will do best in an adult only home that is quiet with few visitors.   She bonds with her people quickly. Rumi is housebroken and loves to get her steps in everyday!  This girl will happily walk 4 miles/day!  Like to play ball?   Well, sign Rumi up! Story
Shira is a beautiful Sable who has obviously already had a litter of pups!  She was found as a stray but had a chip. When the shelter called the owners, they said they had kept the puppies and did not want Shira!! Evidently, they just let her loose and didn’t care!   How can people do this? She is super-friendly to all the people she meets  She rides well in the car and was a perfect passenger in our volunteer’s car when she was rescued.  She likes to get out and go for walks but she needs to polish her leash manners. The shelter states she gets along with other dogs, but we have not yet had a chance to test her with large or small dogs. Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: /https://www.gsroc.org/application/  An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation. Story
3 year old Clover came to us with some past trauma that has left her fearful with new people and new situations.  She has begun to come out of her shell thanks to our volunteers who worked with her to establish trust.  She now likes to meet new friends, but will still move slowly while building up trust.  She clearly believes patience is a virtue and all good things are rewarded. Clover loves attention and also loves to play with toys.  Going for walks?  Exploring the park?  Clover will be right by your side. However, this girl also is happy to lounge around and watch TV if that is what her people feel like doing.  She is just happy to spend time with you.   She would dearly love an adult home where she can be the only doggy princess. Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: /https://www.gsroc.org/application/  An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation.
