Hi, there. I'm Frankie! Sometimes I'm called Little Franks or Frankfurter. I'm told that I'm such a nice girl and that I give the sweetest little kisses. I may be biased, but I agree. I love getting pets and attention from the humans around here and I especially love playing with all my pup friends. Sometimes I can get a little pester-y with my buds though and the humans tell me to settle down; I just get so excited to play with my friends that I forget. I love playing with leaves and hopping around with a ball. I love sharing my leaves and balls with my buds, but if I have food, I don't really want my buds around. I'm learning how to walk on a leash (which I'm getting pretty good at!), and I know sit, down, and not to potty in my kennel, and I'm practicing my placing skills real hard! My dream forever family would be one that is very playful and full of love! And lots of treats, that's a must as well.

Bubbles came to us on Giving Tuesday 2023 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. Hi! I'm Bubbles. I'm one-third of the Powerpuff Girl's Trio! I love hangin with the other girls. We just play and play! Sometimes we get a little too crazy with our toys (and sometimes our beds and blankies even) and they end up getting torn up. So the humans got us some tough toys, but those aren't as fun as the stuff that tears apart! So, now we gotta be supervised with anything soft. But I love the humans too! Sometimes I can be scared when I'm picked up or touched, but then I come to realize "it's okay, these people are nice to me." But I still can get nervous about it. I love jumping up and giving kisses to the humans. And if one of the other girls is gets pets, then of course I gotta scoot in and get some too! I'm hoping to go to a family that will be caring and patient with me, a family that will keep me busy/active, and give plenty of cuddles!

Story

Calliope came to us from Kern County Animal Services on March 29, 2024. She is a 5 year old Belgian Malinois mix. Hi, I'm Calliope! Some of the humans here have difficulty pronouncing that, so they usually just call me Calli! I love being around the people here, they say I have some "attachment issue" but I don't see an issue with it. I just always want to see what they're doing and hang around them all the time; so I bark a bit and I've even broken out of a couple crates to try to keep track of the humans. But they keep working on getting me more independent. I'm not a fan. But I'm getting used to it little by little. I enjoy playing with some of my dog friends here (I don't like sharing my food or toys with them though) and laying in the sun and watching the humans, of course. I've been working on basic commands like sit and down as well as leash training and place training, and they say I'm pretty darn good at those! Anyways, I'm going to go continue practicing being an independent lady, wish me luck!

Story

Grant came to us on March 29th, 2024 from Kern County Animal Services. This 2 year old Shepherd Mix is so much fun. Oh hi, I'm Grant. I can be a smidge leary of new people, but I can warm up to you fairly quickly. And treats help with that, just so you know. I'm just a big goofy shepherd! I love being outside and sunbathing and playing around a bit with a ball. I don't like to play fetch really, I mostly just like to play with it by myself. On occasion, I like to frolic around with the other pups, but it's typically short bursts of that, and then I go do my own thing. Sometimes I don't like going back inside, but the humans make me and I just go in and nap. I've been working on the sit and down commands along with some leashwork and it's going pretty good. I've tried place training and I quite enjoy laying on beds, so I haven't really grasped that it's actually training and not just napping. So, if you have an extra napping spot or maybe a spot in the sun, I'd love to be in it!

Mellie came to us August 15, 2024 from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is about 2-3 yrs old and was probably used for repetitive breeding. That has now stopped and she is safe. Hey! snort I'm Mellie. I'm a super happy girl who absolutely loves pets and cuddles. I will just hop on you and ask for a ton of lovings and if you say no then I'll just keep asking until you say yes! The humans say I can be a bit of a clinger for cuddles. It's just my favorite thing. Sometimes I like to chase a ball briefly but then I always just run back to my person. I like to play around with the other pups and get a little froggy. But exercise is a little hard for my squish face, so I do what I can in short bursts before I really start snortin'. I started my training late because I had a bad case of kennel cough but I'm already pretty chill on leash, don't mind my crate one bit, and am working on some basic commands. I'll do anything for a snack! So, if you've got a good snack and some cuddles available at your place, then I would love to be your forever pal
