Story
Have you ever had a friend who is just sooo easy to have around that you want them to move in and stay furever? Dayna will be that kind of friend!! This sweet, sensitive girl has the very best manners and is up for any adventure. She walks beautifully on a leash, loves car rides, rarely barks and even puts herself to bed at night. Due to the turmoil in her life, Dayna will need time and space to settle in and thrive in her furever home. She loves soft beds, a good selection of plush toys, the occasional pet and ear scratch, lots of adventurous walks, a swim in a lake or river and the company of people who love her. Dayna will need a fenced yard where she can explore, enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, and play safely. She is making great progress on a weight-loss journey and with an active lifestyle should be back in shape in no time.Dayna is a strong girl who can get quite excited around other animals and children. A home with no small children or other pets would be best. Dayna is in a foster home and not at the shelter. Please fill out an adoption questionnaire or contact the shelter to arrange to meet her. https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 37.6 Age: 5yrs 9mths 2wks

Story
A little bit about me:- No children- Good with dogs (pending successful introduction)- Unknown with catsMeet Sachi, a fluffy, handsome, gentle giant who is ready to find his forever home. This 120-pound sweetheart came to us through animal control when his previous owner could no longer care for him. Despite his size, Sachi has a loving, playful, and goofy personality, who often forgets how big he is when he tries to climb onto your lap.Sachi enjoys leisurely walks and is mostly well mannered on the leash, though occasionally his curiosity gets the better of him, and he might pull to explore something that catches his eye. He's a smart boy who loves showing off his trick, he can sit, lay down, speak, and shake a paw!Given his size and strength, Sachi would thrive in an adult-only home where things are calm and quiet. He needs a special guardian who understands his gentle but powerful nature and can give him the loving, structured environment he deserves. If you think you might be the right match for Sachi, please submit an application to the Shuswap branch through the link below!https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: Black Weight: 55.2 Age: 7yrs 2mths 1wks

Story
Meet Fig Newton! Fig is a 2 year old German Shepherd, searching for her forever home. This loving lady came to the shelter as a stray, so very little is known about her history. What we can tell you is that she is an affectionate, friendly, and playful girl. She loves long walks, hikes, and romping around the yard - especially if there are other dogs involved! She loves a good snuggle with her favourite people, and she will nuzzle right into you to let you know it's snuggle time! She is still figuring out house training, and how to live in a home, so she has the occasional accident inside. Fig is leash trained, knows her basic commands very well, and is a very quick learner when it comes to new skills and tricks. She has very good recall, and generally does not stray far when off-leash. As a very active and athletic breed, the German Shepherd requires lots of exercise for optimal physical and mental well-being. A dog who is not exercised enough will become frustrated and likely to develop undesirable behaviors. For grooming, GSD's require brushing every few days, and will shed large amounts of hair several times a year. When Figgy came to us, she didn't seem to have much life experience. Since being in care, she has come a long way in working through some anxiety and fearfulness. She has a tendency to be nervous around men, and takes more time to become comfortable around them. In a new environment, with unfamiliar people, Fig may become nervous and apprehensive. Because of her high levels of anxiety, she has been on anxiety medication that should be continued while she adjusts to a new home. It is unlikely she will need to stay on this medication long-term.In Fig's ideal home, she would not be left alone often, or for long periods of time. She would thrive with other dogs, and a yard to play in. She would be OK with dog savvy kids, but can get jumpy when she is excited. Ideally, there would not be a lot of new guests coming and going.**Fig Newton is not quite ready for adoption, as she is awaiting her spay, but she is available for Foster-To-Adopt! We are only accepting local applicants at this time.**If you think Fig could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 32.8 Age: 2yrs 3mths 0wks

Story
Meet Alta! Alta is a 5 year old German Shepherd, searching for her forever home.Alta is a friendly, confident, and independent dog. She loves to be outside for walks and play, but is also happy to hang out inside and do some snugglin'. She is a very social girl, but she is comfortable enjoying her own company as well. Alta loves to go for long walks, where she can show off her excellent leash training skills. When she first came to us, she was lacking many basic skills like leash training and basic commands, but in just a couple short months, she has mastered them! She is mostly house trained, but may have an accident inside if she doesn't get an opportunity to go outside for a while. As a very active and athletic breed, German Shepherds requires lots of exercise for his physical and mental well-being. A dog who is not exercised enough will become frustrated and likely to develop undesirable behaviors. For grooming, GSDs usually requiring just a quick brushing every few days or so to help remove loose hairs, but they do shed more profusely once or twice a year. When Alta came to us, she had severe ruptured mastitis, leaving her with massive open wounds. It took a while, but she has healed extremely well, and is now a very healthy dog. She is currently on anxiety medication to reduce her stress in shelter, however, once she adjusts to a new home, she could taper off this medication under veterinary supervision. In Alta's ideal home, she would have a structured routine and lots of exercise. She would be best suited for a home with a family, so she could have lots of company. However, she can be very jumpy and would not be suitable for a home with young kids.**Alta is awaiting medical clearance, so she is not quite ready for adoption yet, but she IS available for Foster-To-Adopt!**If you think Alta could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 34.8 Age: 4yrs 9mths 0wks
