Story
Meet Billy 🩵Billy initially came into care after his family was no longer able to look after him. He is a young dog filled with a lot of energy, affection and personality. He is still learning the basics, so some gentle training and leash training will go a long way for him. His husky roots seem to kick in when he sees small critters, so a home without any cats or small animals would be best for him! Billy has a bright spirit and enjoys being around people. He loves joining in on whatever you are doing, whether it is playing in the yard or settling in for a quiet snuggle. This sweet guy loves to chase toys and will often bring them right back for another round of fetch. When given the chance, Billy will try and escape his leash, so some patience will be needed in getting him comfortable with that moving forward. He would thrive in a home that can offer a good mix of activity, positive-reinforcement training, structure and affection. He loves long walks and runs, so an active home is best! If you are looking for a loving companion who will bring joy, fun and plenty of excitement into your life, Billy may be the perfect match.Apply to adopt Billy here: https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Grey Weight: 24.5 Age: 1yrs 6mths 1wks

Story
Meet Merv!Merv is a 7-month-old neutered male Black Mouth Cur with a heart full of potential. This sweet boy is shy and not comfortable with strangers, so he'll need a very controlled environment and a guardian who is knowledgeable about dog body language.Once he warms up, Merv's playful personality shines-he's affectionate, goofy, and full of high-energy enthusiasm!Because he's still learning about the world, Merv can be a bit mischievous and may chew things he shouldn't. He'll thrive in a very active, experienced home that can provide plenty of exercise, structure, and reward-based training to help him grow into the wonderful dog he's meant to be.Merv would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children. He needs someone who is comfortable managing his environments and working with him to help him feel more comfortable and confident. If you're looking for a clever, loving young pup to guide and grow with, Merv might just be your perfect match. 💛📅 Meet & Greets by Appointment OnlyDue to his shy personality, we will only be doing meet and greets by appointment. Story
Young Kia, born May 2025 weighs 13 pounds and likely will be a medium sized dog. Sadly despite her young age, she did not have an easy start. Very young she was dumped, and taken in by nearby residents – but they also didn’t care for her – leaving her full of fleas and ticks. Our sister sanctuary the SPCA PV got word that she was in need and managed to fit her into the shelter. Kia is an energetic pup, with a rough and tumble play style, which can be a lot for other dogs, so she might be a solo adventure dog in her home. She plays best with bigger dogs. She was tested with cats and wasn’t afraid, but also a bit over zealous, so might be too much of a party for many cats. Kia has been enjoying some pool time at the shelter, and has become a good swimmer. You can check out her pool adventures here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16rxiGaqvo/. In her brief stay in a home she was ok alone, loved to play, and didn’t chew things. Kia is now healthy and vaccinated and is looking for a real family to call her own. She has options to fly to BC or Alberta. If you think you might be a fit either as her forever home or as a foster, she’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com, or you can go straight to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (Please check your spam folder for our response).

Story
Introducing the sleek lean (and stunning!) Jimmina. She is a one year old lab x whippet who weighs in at 31 lbs and looks like a leaner smaller version of a lab. She has a lovely temperament with joy in her stride. She is very friendly with people. She is good with other dogs and enjoys playtime with her friends, though naturally is scared of the territorial dogs outside the shelter who come out with menace. Jimmina is also good with cats. She will wow you with her speedy zoomies, only to run back to your feet for cuddles. She’d be a great adventure dog, but also very calm and quiet at home. She is smart, and eager to please. She is medium energy and a quiet girl who asks for little outside of some snuggles. Her youth and loving heart belongs with a loving family of her very own. If you think you might be her chance at a family, or foster along the way, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. Please check your junk mail for our response.

Story
Meet Nube who is looking for a home. Nube is a 4.5 year old mixed breed, full grown at a perfect 45 lbs. We think she may be a lab cross, with a gorgeous white coat, and beautiful markings to round out her unique look. She shares space with other dogs and enjoys playtime in the yard with them. Nube is friendly and affectionate with shelter visitors with a lovely disposition. She is medium energy - with enough energy to keep up, but would also be grateful for some chill time to make up for missed cuddles. Mostly she would love her very own family. Nube hasn't been tested extensively with cats. She sees them without reacting, but for now, we will seek a home without cats to be sure. While Nube is lovely with people, she's not been specifically tested with kids. Nube is spayed and vaccinated. She is missing some of her front teeth - likely a result of escaping shackles or surviving on street scraps. If you think you might be a fit for this beauty, as her chance at a forever home, or as a foster along the way, she'd love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com

Story
Born June 2025, Berna and her siblings were puppies on the street far too young. Thankfully a kind stranger took them in for a few weeks while they waited for space to open up at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta. While we’re so happy she’s off the street, she belongs in a home with a family who loves her, Berna is the sleek lean black pup in the litter. Cutest little one ear up and one floppy going on catches everyone's attention. We think she’ll grow to about 30 lbs full grown. She is a mixed breed which may include terrier and pointer, but really she’s her own unique special girl. Berna is curious about cats, and wags her tail when she visits them. If you think you might be a good fit for this little star, either as her happy ever after, or as a foster along the way, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com.
