Story
Sweet Keisha is looking for a home. She is 40 lb shepherd x lab with a kind and brave soul, who just melts into the arms of those kind enough to give her affection. Keisha was found in Puerto Vallarta, skinny and hungry, trying to care for and protect her litter of 6 puppies. She had dug a small hole to hide them as she stood over them, chained up, until thankfully the angels of the SPCA PV came to rescue them. After her rescue, they learned that Keisha was also blind, they believe from poisoning. Keisha's pups all inherited her kind soul and affection for humans. And we hope that Keisha herself will find her own happiness. Naturally because she can't see, she enjoys sniffari walks, to take in the world around her, and would love a safe property to explore her world in between cuddles with a family that this time would love her. If you think you may be able to give Keisha a home, we'd love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. You can also go directly to our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Story
Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023, is looking for a home. She is approximately 41 lbs. Her mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved. Chiquita is an energetic girl so she’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. Her foster mom just loved her, described her as a fast learner, and a great cuddler. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive. Video of Chiquita with her shelter friends: https://www.facebook.com/spcapv/videos/1401202434079126 She is now healthy and vaccinated. If you think you might be her happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. Chiquita is currently in Mexico but can fly to a Canadian home near you! Story
Do you love being busy outside? Gus sure does! He's a friendly and energetic dog who is looking for a loving home where he can be your adventure buddy. He's not your typical laid back lab, he's very athletic and really enjoys learning while he's playing. He's mastered the game of fetch and we've been using it as motivation to help him learn some new skills. We ask him to sit, lay down, or something new we're working on, and reward it with throwing the ball for him. This is working really well and is a fun way to play and learn together. He is also quite food motivated and loves searching for hidden treats with his powerful nose. He will excel at most dog sports and will be super fun to work with. Gus is still learning about leash manners, and is making progress with his harness training but still needs a few gentle reminders during the walk. He will need some ongoing practice with his leash manners before he really masters this skill. Gus would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can run, explore safely and brush up on some of the skills he hasn't had a chance to learn yet.Gus is a busy, intelligent dog with so much potential to thrive in the right environment that has the time and consistency to put into him. If you're looking for a dog who will grow into an incredible companion with some patience and love, Gus could be the perfect fit for you! Story
Love-able Charlie is looking for a special someone that can shower him with all the affection he deserves. This big boy is fairly laid back, and although he knows how to have a good time and zoom around, he also loves to chill and snuggle with his favourite people. He's been doing really well in foster, has been very appropriate with his doggie housemate, and has even made some new dog friends at the park! He's been great around kids while in foster and could definitely live with them with the right guidance from the adults in the home.He is good in his crate when left alone but will need a bit of ongoing training to really master this skill as it's still fairly new to him. Charlie will thrive in an active household where he can get both physical exercise and mental stimulation. He already loves puzzle feeders, Kongs, brain games and learning new things if there's some yummy treats involved. He loves long walks and is a pleasure on leash, which makes your daily adventures so much more enjoyable. Charlie does think bunnies and other small animals are really interesting and will need gentle reminders not to chase them if they catch his eye while out on a walk or at the park. If you're ready for a nice balance of snuggles and fun adventures, Charlie might be the right dog for you. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 41.1 Age: 3yrs 1mths 2wks
