Hello there! My name's Chance-yep, just like a second chance, which is exactly what I've been given by the awesome folks here at the BC SPCA. I'm a 7-year-old pit bull terrier cross, and while I may not have had the easiest start in life, I'm ready for the next chapter, and I think it's going to be a pretty amazing one!For most of my life, I lived on the streets, and as you can imagine, it wasn't ideal. Along the way, I developed some allergies and other health issues. Unfortunately, I'm waiting for surgery to have both my eyes removed due to some of those challenges. But don't worry! I've been without vision for a while now, and I've learned to get along just fine. In fact, my other senses have gotten super sharp! I can smell so well, and I'm always first in line when it's dinner time (trust me, I don't miss a meal)!I'm also on a special diet to help with some skin inflammation, but the team here is doing their best to get me feeling comfortable. I know I might be a bit of a mess, but I'm a lovable mess, and I'm hoping to find a home where I can thrive!My foster mom says I'm the kind of dog that would do best in a busy home. I get along with kids, other dogs, and maybe even cats (I think I could learn to live with a cat or two, as long as they're cool with me). But here's the thing-I do have a few rules. You see, I believe couches are meant for lounging, and I'll be 100% clear-blocking access to comfy spots should be a crime!I'm currently available for a Foster to Adopt arrangement, which means I'll be waiting to find someone who's willing to take me through my surgery and then make me yours once it's all done. If you've got a busy home and a heart full of love, I'd love for you to come meet me. You'll be getting a dog who's a little quirky, a lot lovable, and ready for that second chance at the life I've always dreamed of. Let's make some memories together! Hello friends, my name is Shiloh! I'm a young, petite Shepherd Border Collie cross, I look like a regular Shepherd, I'm just a little bit smaller ;) I came to the shelter as a stray, and sadly, no one came looking for me, so here I am, hoping to find a new family who will love me as much as I deserve.Not much is known about my past, I can be a bit anxious as I'm always on alert, ready for anything, and sometimes that can make me a little bit jumpy. I was super excited when I got the chance to go for a walk by the river with some friends-it was such a nice change! But I have to admit, I still need some help with my social skills. When I meet new doggy friends, I tend to bark first because I'm just not sure how to act. Once I get comfortable, though, I'm pretty chill and prefer to mind my own business.I'm looking for a patient and understanding guardian who can help me feel safe and show me the ropes. I may need some time to adjust, but I know that with a little guidance, I'll learn to trust and feel secure. In the meantime, I'm a good girl in my kennel-no trouble at all! While we don't know this small "mutt-tacular" girl's exact lineage, we think she best resembles a mix of Italian Greyhound, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Shepherd.Riley Ray needs an owner who can help her continue building confidence. She's full of enthusiasm and energy, but she's also learning how to express herself in a more gentle way. Because of this, we don't feel she would be suitable for a home with young children.In her foster home, Riley has made incredible progress. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and is proving to be an excellent companion. She has mastered "sit," "come," and "stay," and when she's inside, she enjoys lounging on the couch, quietly soaking in the environment. Outside, she plays with enthusiasm, especially with her foster family's dog.Riley Ray has also been improving on her leash manners and is learning to walk in tandem with another dog. She's great at meeting new dogs and people.We're surprised this incredible pup hasn't been adopted yet! She's smart, affectionate, and eager to learn. Emmy is a sweet and friendly pup with so much love to give! While she can be a little wary of new people at first, she warms up very quickly! Emmy does not seem to mind meeting other dogs but isn't overly interested in doing more than a quick greeting. She may do well having dog friends but would love to have the spotlight all on her in her forever home. This sweet girl is also still learning her good manners. She will need her future family to offer guidance with leash training and 4 paws on the floor as she can be jumpy when excited. We have already seen improvements in her leash training while in care! She is working on heeling but could use more support with this. Because Emmy can be fearful of some fast movements and loud noises, she would do best in a home without small children. She is currently healing from a reaction to fleas, so her adopters will need to continue providing regular flea prevention and support her on her journey to healthy skin. With time, care, and love, Emmy will blossom into the happy and comfortable pup she's meant to be!Please note that staff are unable to do dog meets on a walk-in basis.
