Dennis is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as Dennis is not available to meet on site.**Dennis is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since March 22, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Age: 11 months oldWeight: 28.5 kg / 62.8 lbsA bit about me:- unknown history with dogs; okay pending successful intro- unknown history with cats; slow, supervised intros recommended- Adults and Teens okay. Not recommended for a home with small children. Are you ready for this much energy?? Dennis has the biggest heart, and a sweet manner that is constantly interrupted by his antics. He is still working on greeting new people politely, but is working hard to learn the best ways to say hi! Dennis can easily become frustrated when he is asked to perform a difficult skill, or his body language is not respected, so we are looking for a home with adults and teens only that can provide Dennis with plenty of mental and physical enrichment, as well as patient, consistent training that can set him up for success. Dennis does well with a doggy playmate who can keep up with his energy, and plenty of space to roam and explore - he`s not a fan of crates or confinement but would do well with a large yard or access to a rural property. In a consistent, structured home, you`ll see Dennis` sweet, snuggly, couch buddy side and be rewarded with an amazing pup who will someday make a great adventure buddy and couch snuggler! Welcome Dennis home today!

**Mr. Worldwide is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since May 3, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Mr. Worldwide has completed one of our training courses and is now a certified Smarty Pup! To support his new family going forward, Mr. Worldwide will also receive 3 complimentary consults with our behavior team following adoption.Age: 2 yearsWeight: 32.5kg / 71.7lbsA bit about Mr. Worldwide:- Unknown history with cats. All introductions should be slow and supervised.- Only dog in home due to poor dog-dog social skills; potential for dog friends in future- Unknown history with children. All introductions should be slow and supervised.- May do well as a rural placement, but not required. Our goofy pittie mix Mr. Worldwide was found as a stray outside Calgary city limits back in April. Since then, this silly dude has spent almost 6 months in our care! Mr. Worldwide is an active, high energy boy who loves to hike, explore and even roller skate (well, he runs -you skate)! Although he may not look it, his love of the outdoors also means he’d make a great farm or acreage dog. He’d love to go on an all day adventure with you, or just chill and smell the breeze while you work outside. Our boy has really struggled with kennel stress at CHS, but with the hard work and support of our animal care and behaviour teams, we’ve learned that a combination of fun walks and outdoor adventures, as well as a variety of puzzle feeders and other mental enrichment toys helps him get the wiggles out. After so long in shelter, Mr. W will need some time to relax, adjust to his new digs and learn about life at your place. Consistent routines, and shorter absences will help the transition go smoothly. He also comes with 3 complimentary private consults to help you set off on the right paw together.Shelter staff and volunteers say this boy is, “one of my favourites to visit”, “greets you sweetly at the door”, and “loves belly scratches”. If you’re looking for a snuggle bug who can keep up on all your adventures, then look no further than Mr Worldwide. (He might need a coat for your next ski trip, though!)

Age: 1 yearWeight: 32.1 kg / 71 lbA bit about Zephyr:- unknown history with children; supervised interactions recommended- no cats or small animals (history of prey drive)- no dogs (history of dog reactivity)- potential for separation or confinement related stressHere to bring forth a new source of love and excitement, meet Zephyr! Zephyr had a rough start to life and is looking for a family that can help him work on confidence! New people and places can be overwhelming for him and he doesn`t always know how to respond. He`d thrive with a supportive human that he can trust to keep him safe. When comfortable, Zephyr becomes a bouncy, playful, and affectionate lad! He much prefers to snuggle up to his humans and join you for hikes and adventures! Zephyr is an active boy who will benefit from plenty of exercise as well as calm enrichment like puzzle feeders or chew toys to help him regulate his energy. As a puppy, Zephyr never got to learn about appropriate interactions with other dogs and smaller pets, so we are looking for a home where Zephyr is your one and only! Zephyr has also shown some stress in situations where he needs to be left alone in his crate, so his ideal family would be prepared to work with him on comfort with absences. Although Zephyr has some extra needs to help him thrive, he promises to fill your days with love and keep you endlessly amused with his happy zoomies and games of fetch where he throws AND catches! Come by CHS to meet this boy today!

Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Age: 3 yearsWeight: 34.8 kg / 76.7lbsA little bit about Brody: - children unknown, older recommended due to nervousness - cats / small animals unknown - dogs unknown, potential for select other dog in home pending successful dog-to-dogSay hello to Brody, a sweet yet shy boy who has had a rough start to life. However, with the proper TLC, he`s ready to continue on the journey to his new forever! Brody would love a calm, quiet home that would be able to help him adjust slowly, allowing him to get comfortable at his own pace. Once he trusts you, he becomes a very snuggly dog who would love to curl up on the couch for movie night. Brody also enjoys gentle play and long walks - his foster family shares that he walks well on leash. Being found as a stray means that Brody`s history is a mystery, but in foster he shown signs of understanding basic commands and being fully housetrained. We don`t know his history with other animals but he may do well with confident kitties or respectful, laid back dogs. Brody has shown some indications of stress when left alone, so his forever family should be prepared to put safeguards in place (such as a pet sitter or doggy daycare) to help manage this if necessary. Brody is also on a special diet to keep him looking and feeling his best. To learn more, come meet the bashful Brody today!

Story
**Bella Bo-Ella is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since September 3, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**A little bit about Bella Bo-Ella :- Potential for children in home. Limited history of interactions with children previously however there is a noted history of resource guarding that would need to be managed in home. All interactions should be carefully supervised by an adult. - No cats in home due to high prey drive and history of chasing cats- Must be only dog in homeMeet Bella Bo-Ella, a spirited 8-month-old puppy with boundless energy! This lively girl needs an active home that can provide plenty of mental and physical enrichment to help her burn off all that energy. To set Bella up for success, her adopters should be committed to working on her manners and managing her arousal and reactivity through positive reinforcement. Bella has shown some resource guarding tendencies, but our behavior team has valuable tips to help manage this at home. Due to her high prey drive, Bella needs a home without cats or small animals, and because of past altercations with other dogs, she would do best as the only dog in the household. While her forever home requirements may be intimidating, we also know that Bella is an absolute cuddle bug who loves her people and will bask in all the attention she can get! She loves to be right next to her humans at all times, and would be more than content to lay on the couch with a movie going or walking around the neighbourhood happily taking treats for her good behaviour. Even though Bella will have to be the only animal in the home, she will reward you with the love of a thousand. If you have an active yet affectionate household who can keep up with Bella`s zest for life, come meet this sweet lady today!

Story
**Clarence is a Patient Paw, who has been available for adoption since September 26, 2024. Please ask about their reduced adoption fee and the possibility of a sleepover!**Age: 2 yearsWeight: 21.6kg / 47.6lbsA bit about me:- unknown history with kids; interactions should be supervised- unknown history with cats; slow, supervised introductions needed- unknown history with dogs; okay pending successful introductionClarence came to Calgary Humane after he was found as a stray. We have since learned that he is a high-energy boy who loves to split his time between play and rest (whether it be snuggles or resting on his bed). He is a very treat motivated boy, which makes training somewhat easier, though he has shown that he does well playing with a flirt pole as well. Clarence is still figuring out some basic training including leash skills, stairs, and settling for longer periods of time. He seems to really benefit from someone getting down to his level to give some pets. As a supportive tool, CHS is offering 3 free consults with our behaviour team to help Clarence settle into his new home. As a young, active dog, he will benefit from humans who can keep him busy with plenty of mental and physical exercise.
