Story
Location: Didsbury, AB. Energy level: low. Meet Toto, a sweet and shy boy with a heart full of love to give. Toto may take some time to adjust to a new home, but once he trusts you, his affection is endless. His journey has been a little rocky, and he’s still learning to feel safe in the world around him. Toto’s kennel is his safe haven, and while he loves to cuddle up on the bed with his human, he feels most secure sleeping in his kennel at night. Toto is a very quiet boy and hasn’t barked a single time—he’s peaceful and gentle, never a troublemaker. However, he’s quite nervous about being picked up or handled, and leashed walks are too overwhelming for him at the moment. He’ll need a patient adopter who understands that he might need time to build confidence and feel comfortable in new situations. Toto gets along well with other dogs and would be fine around dog-savvy cats, though he appreciates his space, especially when he’s sleeping in his kennel. He’s a bit of a homebody and has enjoyed camping trips with his foster family, though he’d rather stay in a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe and secure. This sweet boy eats a special dehydrated dog food that’s easy on his sensitive teeth, as many of his teeth were damaged and removed from his early life of eating garbage. Despite his ruff start, Toto has never held a grudge—he’s all about the love and enjoys getting spoiled with attention. One of the cutest things about Toto is his pre- and post-meal “dance”! He’s so excited for food time that he can’t help but do a little happy wiggle and shuffle before and after each meal. It’s a small, adorable quirk that’s guaranteed to make you smile! Toto is looking for an adopter who will be patient and understanding, someone who can give him the time and care he needs to blossom into the affectionate companion he’s meant to be. If you’re ready to offer Toto a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe, secure, and showered with affection, he just might be the perfect fit for you! Toto would do best in a home with another pet and no children due to his nervous nature. A quiet, stable home with a predictable routine would be a dream for this boy. If you think your home would be a good match for Toto, please complete an adoption application on our website and one of our team members will be in touch with you shortly via email to arrange a phone interview.

Story
Location: Taber, Alberta. Energy level: High energy. Cats and small animals: Yes, if properly introduced and managed. Dogs: Yes. Kids: older dog savvy children. Meet Journey, a sweet and silly pup who is looking for her forever home. Journey's best qualities include her playful nature, love for toys, and her ability to bring joy and laughter to everyone around her. She enjoys playing fetch or tug, playing in the water, going for walks, and people-watching. Journey is a high-energy dog who enjoys going for 1-2 60-minute walks a day. Although Journey is still learning how to walk politely on leash, she's made quick progress and enjoys her walks. Because she is still working on her anxiety, barking dogs and new people can make her nervous. She would benefit from someone who is experienced in building confidence and training dogs with anxiety and fear. Journey is fully crate-trained, settles without barking when home alone, and sleeps through the night. She does whine a bit when she knows people are home but still settles in quickly. Journey is house-trained with minimal accidents, but is still learning how to communicate that she needs to go out. On car rides, Journey can still be quite nervous and tries to ride in her person's lap so she would benefit from a car crate or another person for comfort. Journey would thrive in an active household with dog-savvy children. She can be nervous around new people, regardless of size or gender. She gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy having a companion to play with. Although she doesn't display an active prey drive, she does have a chase drive, so she should be placed in a home without cats or small animals. Due to Journey being nervous and timid at first, she requires multiple meet 'n' greets before the adoption can be finalized. If you are looking for an energetic, goofy, loyal companion who will give you endless affection and laughs then Journey just might be your girl! Click "apply to adopt" to complete an application and one of our team leads will be in touch via email to arrange a phone within a few business days.

Story
Location: Medicine hat, AB Weight: 9lbs Age: 2 years Sex: Spayed Female Energy level: Medium Chica is a delightful pup with a heart full of love and a personality that will capture your heart. At a medium energy level, she enjoys her bursts of playtime throughout the day, typically lasting 15-20 minutes, followed by cozy naps to recharge. When the weather is nice, Chica is always up for a refreshing 40-minute walk, walking beautifully on her leash and harness. While Chica is friendly with other dogs and even cats, she appreciates her space when it comes to new people. She is currently building her social skills, and with some patience, she'll blossom in her interactions! Chica is crate-trained and settles in nicely at night, sleeping soundly until around 7 a.m. However, due to her sensitive nature, she does require a little extra supervision when she's inside the house to prevent her from chewing on things she shouldn't. This sweet girl is completely house-trained but prefers to do her business when the weather is warm—so during snowy or cold days, she’ll need a little extra encouragement to go outside. Chica thrives on companionship and does not do well when left alone for long periods. She can be a bit of a stinker when it comes to food, with a tendency to swipe snacks when you least expect it! Patience and consistent training will help her learn about personal space and how to behave around new faces. A true cuddle bug at heart, Chica loves snuggling up with her favorite toys, including her beloved stuffed squeaky lamb chop and her Kong filled with peanut butter. She also enjoys the lick mat, which helps keep her calm during anxious moments. With the right adopter who can offer love, understanding, and a bit of time, Chica will make a loyal companion and bring endless joy into your life. If you're looking for a furry friend to share your days with, Chica is ready to fill your heart and home with love! Are you ready to welcome Chica into your family?
