Story
Ralphie is a 4 year old mini Australian shepherd. He’s very energetic and loves to play fetch with anything you’ll throw! He needs lots of space to run and a family that is patient with him. He is very well potty trained and easy to teach new tricks. He does not like kennels but does well inside the house alone while we’re at work. He is leash trained with a swivel harness, but does have leash anxiety. We’re having to rehome him because of his anxiety. Although medication does help, he’s shown aggression towards small kids. Recommend he goes to a home with no small kids or small dogs. He does play well with most other dogs. He’s such a sweet and beautiful dog, he just has some anxiety that makes him unpredictable around babies.

Story
This precious big girl (almost 70#) is a true gem. She's been vetted and we have given her the 12 month Proheart heartworm prevention shot. She's a pretty chilled out dog but loves to run after a ball. She doesn't like other dogs to come up and get in her business but she won't seek them out and get in theirs. She's more of a loner and prefers to be the only child. She was fostered with an older dog and several cats and did done very well with them. The dog passed away but she's loving the cats. She has storm anxiety and gets extremely nervous during a thunderstorm. She can (and has!) cleared a 6 ft privacy fence during a storm if let out during one or given access to a doggie door. Don't do it.She's fine with a crate to be on the safe side while owners are working or away. Shellie has a silky, hair-like coat and does not shed like most shepherd dogs, though she does shed, of course. She would really prefer to have someone at home with her to give them her unconditional attention and love. She is a wonderful girl and loving as can be, but simply anxious during storms and firework. For the RIGHT person(s) we have a sponsor to sponsor her adoption fee, but only if we feel it is the perfect home for this baby girl..Her swimming pool will even go along with her because she LOVES her swimming pool!Apply to adopt at madisonarf.org

Story
Toshi (pronounced TOE SHEE) is a 3 year old male Alaskan Malamute, pure breed and is registered with the AKC. He has a fantastic temperament. He is not at all dog aggressive and when he goes to boarding he mixes well with other dogs. However, Toshi has not lived in a home with other dogs so he may do best in an environment where he is the only dog. Malamutes are known for resource guarding/ food aggression and since he has never lived with another dog he hasn't had the opportunity to work that out. Toshi is in excellent health and all of his veterinary records can be verified. He is kept on heartworm medication year-round. Our hope for Toshi is that he is owned by someone who is very active, athletic even. By virtue of his breed he has a lot of stamina. He needs and enjoys consistent exercise. He would enjoy extended walks, running free in an enclosed, safe area and hiking. He also really enjoys a good belly rub.

Good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained,
Story
Why isn't she adopted yet? She's the perfect pup when she's at home, just not always so perfect at PetCo.Rana was dumped in someone's yard who brought her to MARF to find her a home. She a sassy little girl who bosses the big dogs around in the foster home, since she is a HERDING BREED MIX of Blue Heeler and who knows what?!She is full of love and energy to spare, stays right with the foster mom as she walks the farm checking on the horses, goats and chickens, which she has interacted with but does not bother. She is house and crate trained, knows the word NO, and comes when she is called. She loves to play outside with the other dogs in the foster home, so must have a securely fenced yard to play and potty in, along with another playful dog in the home to play with. She loves her dog toys, her chew bones and will bring you a toy.She is highly intelligent, easily trained, easy to handle (according to the foster mom) and won't get past a medium sized dog.Foster mom says she is "the perfect puppy to foster". She gets a little bossy at Petco, trying to be Alpha, so be aware, that she cannot be with another Alpha in the home and make sure you know the herding breed. They HERD! She is great with the foster's granddaughter (but they are also used to herders). She is FULLY VETTED and her adoption fee is SPONSORED.Apply at Madisonarf.org

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Milo and his 3 sisters were all found in a vet clinic trash dump in 2023.NO CATSThey were all adopted. Milo is the goodest boy ever but his parents divorced and the apartments where his Mom and human siblings are able to afford to move into don't allow pets so Milo the good boy has to come back to MARF. He's a pointer/German Shorthair Pointer mix (we had thought heeler, but we were wrong!) and whatever mix and loves running outside, playing with the kids, etc.NO CATS for Milo and he is an ALPHA DOG so needs a submissive. He's fully vetted and ready to move on to his FUREVER home with a secured place to run, play and potty. He's great with other dogs and respectful kids but would be fine as an only child as long as he got exercise. A lot of it. He's a big boy at almost 70 lbs.Apply online at MadisonARF.org
