Story
Penny is 15yrs old and starting to lose her hearing, sight and potentially experiencing dementia. Her entire life she has been with me. My wife and I welcomed home a daughter last year and with Penny’s growing health concerns and need of room in our apartment—it is getting harder for me to take care of her. I don’t want to see her go but do want her to be happy somewhere she can get the care she deserves. I will always love her and hope someone else can too.

Story
Luna is a 5 year old Dalmatian/Lab mix She weighs about 50 pounds and is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on leash. She has grown up with kids and is gentle with all ages and loves to give kisses. She loves squeaky toys and snuggles and playing in the backyard to keep an eye on the squirrels! She is highly trainable and super eager to please. Luna was born deaf but was taught hand commands from age 5 months. She responds well to visual cues and is eager to learn more. Deaf dogs are just like regular dogs, you simply communicate with them a little differently! If Luna sounds like the perfect addition to your family but you are worried about her being deaf don't be! We will include sessions with our trainer for any interested family to help make the transition super easy! Luna either needs to be an only dog (as being deaf other dogs can startle her) or potentially with a calm male dog. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Pandora was adopted from us in December 2023, and was brought back due to extreme food aggression. Pandora is very sweet and loves pretty much everyone she meets. She does have a tendency to jump on you for attention. She is good with kids but not livestock. She is NOT cat friendly. She does well with other dogs as long as there is NO food involved. Even if her people are eating food and another dog is around she will cause issues. When food is not involved she plays and does so well with other dogs. Because of her reactions, she may do best as the only dog in the home that'll take her for playdates with other dogs. She loves water (both pools and the hose) and going on walks. She will jump out of shorter fencing, so 6ft tall chain link or privacy fencing is recommended. She is good on a leash and does well crated. She has done well while in her inside kennel so may be housebroken. Pandora is VERY high energy and spend most of her day pacing her kennel and barking. She's got a very persistent, high bark so she may not do well in an apartment setting but we always recommend a foster period just to make sure. She is spayed, vaccinated with DHPP and Bordetella, microchipped, and heartworm negative and on prevention. She is due for a rabies vaccination. All adoptions are first come first serve the day of availability. ECHS does not reserve adoptable animals for the public. Please note that availability is subject to change at any point in time per ECHS discretion.
