Story
Introducing Pongo, a charming young male Dalmatian mix with a personality as distinctive as his spots. Pongo is a delightful blend of playfulness and affection, making him the perfect companion for those who appreciate a dog with a big heart and a bit of spunk. Pongo's Personality and Traits: Dog-Friendly: Pongo loves the company of other dogs, though he appreciates a few introductions before forming friendships. Once he gets to know them, he's a loyal playmate. Unknown with Cats: His interactions with cats are still a mystery, so careful introductions will be necessary if you have feline friends. Initial Barking: Pongo tends to bark at new people but quickly warms up and wants to be friends once he feels comfortable. Love Bug: This loveable pup is incredibly affectionate, always eager for cuddles and companionship. He can be a bit whiny, but it's just his way of expressing his need for attention. Strength and Playfulness: Pongo is a strong boy who needs someone capable of managing his strength on walks. He loves to play and can pull on the leash, so a firm hand is essential. Responsive: Pongo listens well to commands, making training sessions enjoyable and productive. Nippy and Reactive: He has been nippy a few times when startled, but these are fear-based reactions rather than aggression. Understanding his triggers and providing reassurance will help him feel secure. Vet Visits: Pongo is fearful of the vet and requires a muzzle and relaxation meds during appointments. Patience and gentle handling can help make these experiences less stressful for him. What to Expect When Adopting Pongo: Patience and Understanding: Pongo thrives in an environment where he feels safe and loved. Be patient with his initial reactions and work on building his confidence. Training and Management: Regular training sessions will be beneficial in reinforcing commands and managing his strength. Consider using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage good behavior. Socialization: Arrange playdates with other dogs and introduce him to new environments to help him become well-adapted and confident. Exercise Needs: Pongo has plenty of energy to burn. Daily walks, playtime, and engaging activities will keep him happy and healthy. Healthcare Considerations: Work with your vet to ensure Pongo's visits are as stress-free as possible. Discuss strategies to help ease his fear during appointments. Adopting Pongo means welcoming a loyal and loving companion into your life. With the right care and attention, he'll become a cherished member of your family, offering endless affection and joy. Are you ready to give Pongo the loving home he deserves? German Shorthaired Pointer Mix 18 months old Male 48 pounds Kids · 8+ Dogs · Yes Cats · No Are you looking for some good Karma? Guess what? I think I know just the thing...There is this really great fella...he's sweet and he's cute and he's just full of personality. He loves to play with other dogs, and he just adores all the attention that sturdy kids 8+ have to offer. He's crate trained already, and he even knows how to sit when asked. He could use some better manners on leash, though. Not only is he super-duper smart, he’s also super playful, loves to chase his ball and toss his toys around...oh and he likes to go for walks and runs and hikes too! He really is an awesome fella, and here's the kicker—this fella is me and I am looking for a home! Yup, that's the thing...the perfect way to bring home a little good Karma. My adoption fee is $240 and includes neuter, microchip & registration, reduced-cost training class, free vet exam, leash/collar, toy & treat pack.

Story
Habanero may be named after a spicy pepper, but this girl is way sweeter than she could ever be spicy! She’s a friend to all, a lover to her core and an exceptionally well behaved girl. Habanero would be an easy first dog, a wonderful family dog, a great companion dog to just about anyone ready to be loved. We think that Habanero may be a Pointer, Boxer mix, but… look at her. It’s hard to tell! She is a rescue, so these are just are best guesses. She’s estimated to be around 7 months old right now, and weighs in at 40 pounds. Spend some time with Habanero here: https://youtu.be/hHJtW15GlZU?si=PerSGBunwUxt4yjh Habanero is a social butterfly with people, she is immediately ready for love and affection the moment she meets a new friend. She’s a super affectionate lap dog, ready to love you. She adores kids too, preferring teens and tweens to the little ones. She loves treats, and takes them so gently! She’s a food motivated fast learner, so any further training will be rewarding and enjoyable for both of you. She’s already great on leash and knows her “sit” command. She has an adorable ability to walk on her hind legs, and we think she may learn to do it on command if you work with her on it. Habanero is a seriously well behaved girl. She has amazing impulse control when it comes to food, and she has a habit of “checking in” during playtime with other dogs. These are great signs for trainability and loyalty, Habanero is ready to become your PERFECT dog. She’s a solidly medium energy girl with the cutest zoomies, but good house manners and so much softness and gentleness. With other dogs, Habanero is playful, joyful and tolerant. She can zoom with the best of them, and when a dog is being a little too pushy, Habanero can take it! She would do well in a home with doggy siblings, but with her people-focused personality, we know that she could thrive as an only dog as well. Habanero was cat tested here at the rescue, and did well meeting our house cat Tom. We believe her to be cat-tolerant, capable of living in a home with dog savvy kitties. See her cat test for yourself in her video. Habanero is an adventure dog too! She’s just too perfect. She is amazing in the car, she will actually take a nap in the passenger seat. No roaming, whining or car sickness from this girl. She does really well in public spaces too, sticking to her handler’s side even when interested in new people, cars, or other animals. Take her on a picnic date, to events and patio restaurants, and watch her make friends and steal hearts. Habanero could easily thrive in any home style- apartment, townhouse, condo or house! She would love doggy siblings, but doesn’t need them, and could live with kitties. We think she would be a great family dog for kids ages 8 and up. She would love to be your little go-anywhere dog, and she definitely has the right temperament for it! With any questions, please reach out to her adoption coordinator, whose email is linked below. We are willing to test Habanero with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know. We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: ● Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family ● Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test ● 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion ● A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions ● 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription ● Coupons for a fun visit to Petco ● 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions ● Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer ● Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
