Story
Faith / Female / 3.5 yrs / 51 pounds / Dalmatian Mix / Sweet and Independent / Deaf Sweetheart / Dog Selective / No Cats / Dog Savvy Kids Aged 10+ / Medium Energy / Fostered in Toronto / From Tennessee Meet Faith! Lovely Faith is the ultimate sweetheart looking for a loving home after being abandoned along with three other dogs when her owners moved away. Found tied up outside, it's suspected she spent her entire life in this situation, but her spirit remains bright. She has now made the trip to Toronto looking for her forever home. Sweet Faith was born deaf so can be a bit shy and cautious when meeting new people. Once she knows she can trust someone she is very loving and eager to please. She loves using her nose and eyesight, and is very food motivated. Faith loves cuddles, belly rubs, and chin scratches. She loves sniffing when out on her walks and is learning to play with toys. Faith is very motivated by treats and will do excited spin and sits to get a treat. She gets so excited when her foster comes home that she does a full body wiggle even in her crate. She will lean right into her trusted people for cuddles or place her chin on your lap or hands and gaze up lovingly. Since Faith cannot hear, she can get a bit overwhelmed and overly focused on watching people or movements when outside. She gets nervous if strangers act in unusual manners but is also curious. She is really trying to figure everything out and appreciates extra guidance from her foster. She may alert bark when out but doesn't pursue anything. She currently gets 3 walks a day of about half an hour. When she is relaxed she walks well and loose on leash. She will sometimes catch a scent and linger. She is very curious about critters and will pull towards them. Faith likes to follow her trusted people around the house. She is crated when left alone and settles quickly. She has stayed in the crate for up to 6 hours and is comfortable in there. She sleeps in the crate at night with the door open. She is food motivated so may try to counter surf if given the opportunity. She does not bark or howl when left alone. Faith is completely potty trained. She is working on basic training using hand gestures. She knows sit and is working on stay. She is very treat motivated and eager to please. Faith appreciates slow intros and needs time to approach, sniff, and get to know people on her own terms. Once she's comfortable she is a total love bug and wants to be close to her people. She is very loving, bonds quickly and easily, and likes to follow her people around the house. She hasn't met any children yet but would likely do well with older dog-savvy children who are respectful of her space and don't sneak up on her. Faith appears to be dog-selective. She lived with other dogs on the farm in Tennessee but hasn't met many since coming into foster care. She has mixed reactions to seeing dogs on the street but there doesn't seem to be a pattern. She has growled and yapped at a couple of dogs, and has wagged her tail and rolled over for others. She will likely be dog social but needs space and proper intros for now. She has shown a desire to chase squirrels and other critters and has not been tested with cats. Faith is looking for a quiet home and a patient family who can spend time showing her she is safe and working with her to be her best self. She would do best in a home with a yard to hang out in and explore but she could live in a condo or apartment. She will need a family committed to working with her on training and basic skills, including the use of hand signals. She will need a calm environment to decompress and thrive. Faith's gentle and loving nature will make her a cherished member of a lucky family. If you have love and patience to set her up with structure we believe she will be a wonderful family pet. Name: Emma Age: 3 years old Gender: Female Neutralization: Completed Breed: Pointer Mix Color: Black and White Spotty Weight: 46 LB (21kg) Hello!! My human friends!! I am Emma, an energetic Pointer mix aged 3. I am a lovely girl with warm heart and brightness. However, people did not know me, and I was on the list of euthanasia at the city shelter. Fortunately, a kind rescuer saved me, and here I am. Now, I am sooooo ready to meet my lovy dovy happy family. I am very bright girl with full of charming energy. I love people’s attention and being petted. When meeting new people, my tail does not stop wagging and my ears get flat with happiness. My handler said that it was so difficult to take a picture of me with proper ear shape because they got flat all the time when I was with people. I really enjoy being companion with people and I assertively approach to them to be petted. If you rub my belly, I will melt down immediately for more petting. I am very good with new doggie friends. I usually say hi gently to them and then, just mind my own business. I can share treats with them and smell out each other to get to know. Though I am more interested in people and exploring new environments. Outdoor activities and exercising are my favorite things. As I am a Pointer, I need to consume my energy properly. Otherwise, I may get stressed out. I also need to take my potty break outside, so regular strolling is essential for me. I may get excited when I go for walk and pull on leash a bit but this should be settle down soon with some training, for sure. If you need a companion who can enjoy a lot of energetic activities together, I am here for you. 😀 If you see me, you will instantly realize how adorable I am. I have bright energy and easy-going personality. Let me spread my happy virus to you. We can have lots of fun adventures together!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9llIlTwDg6Q&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JzewDjO_YZjw6S8DZTZAgbu ❤ we accept both Canada/US applicants ❤
