Story
Hello Everybody! My name is Mika (mee-kuh). I’m a Dalmatian mix, and a little bit bigger girl (because I am tall), but I only weigh about 55-57 pounds. I could stand to lose another couple of pounds, but the food is good here and we have yummy treats! I’m not telling, but I am probably mixed with either a larger hound or something like a Great Pyrenees because I have dewclaws on my back feet and a tiny bit of an undercoat. I am getting along well with my foster sisters and with a boy dog that was fostering with me for a while. I am kind of bold, and a bit rowdy, when meeting new dogs, so slow introductions will be required. Once I learn to trust you, I will play with you all day. I do like to set the rules among the four-leggeds, so I have some opinions about sharing the water bowl, guarding my space, and occasionally wanting to keep my bone or my person to myself. I won’t get too upset though if you just understand my rules. My foster Mom is working on this with me. I do great hanging around the food bin while Mom gets our dinner, and I am very considerate when the treats are being doled out, but my new parents need to continue working on this resource guarding thing with me. I have not been around cats or kids, but I do very well leaving the resident house bunnies alone (well, except to eat the bunny berries. Those guys are like regular treat dispensers, it’s kinda cool!). I love to be with my person, and I follow her everywhere. Sometimes I climb in her lap or jump on her, but I am working on that. I am also a very good girl and can stay in my own room even when Mom leaves the house, but I do well lounging in my crate when I have to. I have very good potty habits although I did do a little submissive peeing when I first got here because I was scared about being in a new place. I haven’t done that in a long time though. I would love a home where I am either an only dog or have one or two more submissive buddies. I do love to play, so a play buddy would be nice. I don’t think I would like the dog park. Please contact my foster mom Tara @ spotteddogs91@hotmail.com or our friend Ms. Tena at tjp@mygrande.net and ask more about me. I am so looking forward to my new forever home! Mika is located in Live Oak (San Antonio), TX. Adopter must pick up. She is spayed, HW Neg, and current on vaccinations. Adoption fee $350.00 Applications may be submitted at www.dalmatianrescueco.org   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Story
AN ATHLETE'S ATHLETE! Murphy is a gorgeous, green-eyed liver boy who loves an extreme lifestyle. He loves to run; he's begun to learn agility; and he would excel in all kinds of canine sports! Murphy had a horrible early start in life with a very abusive family who were observed hitting him often. He lived with 2-3 small kids, 2 small dogs (he has also lived with a female rottie) and his "parents" in a rented farmhouse in Illinois. One day, the family drove away and abandoned him in the house with no food or water. Two days later, the homeowner heard him howling for help. Poor Murphy was so afraid that he constantly shook and trembled and was terrified to be touched. Since then, Murphy has been with an extraordinary behaviorist and trainer near Orlando. He's gained enormous confidence and learned to love and trust. He is protective of his person while allowing them space, which he also wants. Like all dogs, he needs a job. Murphy is very focused on his handler and has tremendous drive and work ethic. He will need a special adopter who is willing to take the time to provide exercise, companionship, and learning to help him excel. Murphy has started obedience and agility training. Could you be the right person for this special boy? Please contact sandy@dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. October 18, 2024, 8:46 am

Story
Pat is a loving, gentle & playful boy. He loves learning new things & being with people and other dogs. Pat has had a very difficult early life. He ran away four times and ended up at the local humane society. Pat was brought there again after his owner died. He is gradually losing his hearing and is very nervous about this. He does not like a lot of shadows or flashlights. He is learning hand signals and has just learned to stop, to sit and to shake paws. Pat loves to share cuddles and craves human contact. He'd be thrilled at the opportunity to be a velcro dog - a very Dalmatian trait! If you are looking for a very handsome, smiling love bug and are interested in him, please contact sandy@dalmatianrescueco.org. Adoption $300.00. The adoption application can be found at www.dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Story
WHOA! Spike is not a "spot"! But Spike was a part of a twosome (his cohort was a Dalmatian, Snoopy) that was confiscated for neglect by the Sheriff in a small town in Central Texas. Having no place to hold these dogs, the Sheriff contacted Dal Rescue to see if we would help them out, and, of course, we did! Spike was filthy and flea-covered, having lived in a small 4 X 6 kennel for who knows how long. Dal Rescue has a rule that we don't leave any dog behind. Because the other half of this duo was a Dal, we couldn't leave Spike behind to fend for himself. So, we have this lovely mixed breed doggo who is the best dog! He is friendly, gets along with everyone, and even has some manners! He loves to be petted and will wriggle his whole body when someone strokes him. He's a medium-sized boy who would make a good family dog. Can be a little bossy around other dogs, but corrects easily and moves on. Spike's suggested adoption donation is $350. Contact jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. October 18, 2024, 8:46 am

Story
Fred is an absolute dream dog! Mostly white with some spots on his ears, he is said to be quite relaxed and friendly, meeting other dogs nicely and walking well on a leash. Not much is known about his history, but he was a staff favorite at the shelter and was well-loved at one time, with a beautiful coat and some decent house manners. He is, unfortunately, heartworm positive and has started undergoing treatment which will continue once he arrives in Colorado (Dalmatian Rescue will underwrite the completion of his treatment until he is heartworm free). He's cute and sociable and is going to make some family a great companion. At 40 pounds, he's not big and likes to play but is not super high energy. Adopter must be willing to follow veterinarian instructions and work closely with Dalmatian Rescue to insure Freddy's heartworm treatment is complete and successful. For more information, please contact jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org for more information. Suggested adoption donation is $350.   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Story
Chance is the happiest dog. He is a real lover but has problems holding his licker. LOL. He is high energy and loves to run, play fetch, play with most other dogs, and catch treats in the air. Chance is house trained, crate trained, contained by a 4’ fence, and is very smart. He’s met cats but is too rambunctious for them. He loves to cuddle with his people and veg. Chance came to Colorado from Louisiana where his allergies were severe and caused him to often scratch himself raw and be VERY uncomfortable. Currently, his worst allergic reaction seems to be getting a pink hue to certain areas of his skin and sometimes licking. New adopters need to be aware that Chance is on weekly desensitization shots for his allergies and twice weekly ear meds. These medications will need to be continued for the time being and possibly for the rest of his life. He is under the care of a dermatologist from CSU but could probably be transferred to a dermatologist elsewhere if CSU is too far to travel. He has no food allergies, according to his dermatologist, but is allergic to numerous environmental elements. He was originally on Apoquel but that has been discontinued due to a huge reduction in the symptoms of his allergic reaction. If you are looking for an active and fun dog, consider Chance and come meet him. If you would like more information regarding Chance, please contact jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org. Suggested adoption donation is $350.   If interested in this dog, please go to  www.dalmatianrescueco.org  and submit an application for adoption.
