Story
Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello! My name is Lucy! I'm thought to be a Dachshund mix about 2 years old and I currently weigh about 31 pounds - though I am still working on getting my post baby shape back! I'm a sweet gal who enjoys the people I've met so far and I get along very well with the other dogs in the house. I especially enjoy snuggling and will jump up on the couch or recliner to lay next to people. I'm house trained, walk well on a leash and do fine in a crate though my foster family doesn't crate me anymore since I've proven to be trustworthy when left alone at night. I'm microchipped and current on my vaccines and monthly preventatives. I do still need to be spayed, which should happen the first week in January. I am heartworm positive so I need to receive that treatment before I can be adopted and should be able to go to my new home by the end of January. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab. Let’s get our family started!

Story
Whimsy is a quiet, steady companion who enjoys simply being part of your world without needing to be glued to your side. She’s wonderfully independent, happy to relax nearby, join you for an outing, or hang out while you go about your day. She’s the perfect match for someone who appreciates a dog that doesn’t need constant touching or attention to feel connected. When it’s time for fun, Whimsy has plenty of playful, high-energy moments. The rest of the time, she’s a laid-back couch potato who is easy to live with. She’s crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash, rides well in the car, and stays calm and quiet in the home. She’s observant, sweet in her own way, and content to entertain herself. Whimsy would do best in a home without cats. If you’re looking for a calm yet spirited dog who brings companionship without the clinginess, Whimsy might be exactly who you’ve been hoping for. Her adoption fee of $300 covers her spay, vaccines, parasite prevention, and a microchip. Visit www.fullcirclerescueandsanctuary.com to fill out an application.

Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

Story
Meet Zo! This sweet dachshund girl is the most breathtaking little queen you've ever seen. Zo arrived at the shelter in the arms of an elderly man who adored her for all 16 of her years. Her family cared for her with devotion, but age caught them faster than it caught Zo. Her dad had recently suffered a stroke and could no longer meet her needs. Zo is settling in beautifully. She eats like a champ, toddles around happily, and is busy sampling every dog bed in the house like a petite, elderly Goldilocks. Deaf from birth, Zo is understandably a bit head shy when surprised. But she's gentle, great with the other dogs, and already turning every heart to mush. Zo is approximately 16 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Alexandria, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Zeke Zeke was recently taken in by another rescue but an emergency left him needing a spot ASAP and we were happy to assist. He will be neutered on 1/6 and ready to go home on 1/9. Because he did have a home we know a bit more about him than we normally do about our dogs. He was born 6/2025 and is said to be a Dachshund and Yorkie mix. He is currently around 17 lbs so adopters should plan on him being a solid 20 lbs or more when grown. He was raised with kids and cats but unfortunately with small 2 kids and a 3rd on the way he was just too much for his owner to deal with. He reminds us of another Yorkie mix we had a few years ago. He is quite cocky and sure of himself, very smart and will turn out to be a ton of fun for the right home. He crates well and has been super on his house manners, he is certainly too young to leave loose unattended but not far from that. Walks fairly well on a leash but will pull when something smells interesting. Will do best in a home either as an only dog or with a dog his size (or larger) and playful. He is a tank and can be to rough for older or smaller dogs. We were told he wasn’t aggressive to the cats but did try to play, same with the toddlers. Given his age we would ideally like kids to be older than 8 yrs. Currently in Warrenton, VA. https://linktr.ee/hailmaryrescue1?utm_source=linktree_profile_share&ltsid=e19407ae-0c4e-45ac-9860-80c9da3d38a8

Story
Meet Tails! This gorgeous little guy was sadly abandoned in an apartment complex when his family moved and couldn’t—or wouldn’t—take him with them. Thankfully, caring neighbors stepped in and reached out to his current foster mom, Debbie, for help. Debbie didn’t hesitate to foster him, and of course, we said yes to bringing Tails into rescue. Tails is now thriving in his foster home and has integrated beautifully into his foster pack. He did an excellent job transitioning and has proven to be great with both dogs and cats. He does well with dogs of all sizes and is curious about the cats but means them no harm. While Tails is naturally drawn to his humans for comfort and security, he also enjoys following the lead of his canine pack. Tails is a very chill boy with a moderate energy level. He is both house-trained and crate-trained, and currently enjoys two walks a day—especially stopping to sniff and explore. He may be curious about other dogs on leash, but he is not reactive. When he’s not out for a walk, Tails is happiest relaxing on the couch with his person. He looks to his human for emotional reassurance, and his favorite spot is curled up in Debbie’s lap. Tails can be shy at first and is wary of strangers, especially loud people or sudden movements. He’ll do best in a calm, consistent home and would benefit from continued gentle exposure to visitors. He previously lived with older children (10+), which would be a good fit again. Tails is not aggressive at all—he’s simply a sensitive soul who prefers a peaceful environment and very much considers himself a lap dog. His ideal day? A good meal, a nice walk, and lots of cuddles with his person. Tails is ready for a forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and cherished. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will happily curl up in your lap and steal your heart, Tails may be your perfect match. Apply today!
