Story
Dr. Frank-N-Furter came to our home in 2014. We rescued him from a large hoarding situation. He has been a treasured part of our family for the last 11 years. Furter (as he is affectionately known) is around 14 years old (we guessed his age and gave him the birthday of October 31). He is great with children and other dogs of all ages. The ideal home for Furter would be one that has: multiple dogs (3-4...he loves being part of a pack), affectionate children, very few stairs, access to a yard, and a primary owner who is able to be home with him. For 14, Furter still has a lot of energy and needs an attentive owner who can also handle his medical needs (special diet, urniary tract issues/incontinence, and skin allergies). This was a difficult decision for our family, and we want Furter to go to a good home.

Story
The sweetest dog we've ever met. So gentle and loves to cuddle. Favorite things: belly rubs, scratches and walks. She loves to play with her stuffed animals and loves chase with our teens. She doesn't nip and is potty trained. She hasn't touched our belongings but likes to explore the house. She probably would do best as the only dog in the family or with a young or smaller dog. Come meet her! She's so cute and loving Visit https://www.wtarescue.com/adoption-process-2 to request a meet and greet and learn more about our adoption process! Have questions? Email us at foster.adopt@wtarescue.com! Mandatory in person transfer date: March 22nd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##2200722##

Story
Name: Ramsey Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 10 months old (as of 3/1/25) Best Guess for Breed: Dachshund Mix Weight: About 15 lbs (as of 3/1/25) Lives With: Dogs, cats and people! Housebroken? Yes, he’s housebroken! Story: Ramsey was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina with his brother Gordon. We are so happy to have them safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Ramsey is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Ramsey is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Ramsey will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Ramsey is the sweetest dog you will ever meet!  He loves playing with other dogs and he is completely fine with our cats (even the mean one!).  He is a bit shy initially, but it only takes a minute for him to change his mind and want attention from you. Overall Ramsey is a very easy dog!  He’s happy just to lay in a dog bed near you while you work, and so far seems to be house-trained.  He loves to be held and cuddled and will follow us around, but will also go get toys out of the toy basket on his own to play with.  He loves squeaky toys and chew bones to occupy his time!  Ramsey walks very well on a leash and loves his walk time.  He is very quiet in his crate at night (in our room with us) but I honestly am not sure he needs one!  We have never heard Ramsey bark, which is amazing considering his breed.  He has a very sweet disposition so I believe he will be really great with kids.  If you are looking for an adorable, sweet, affectionate, easy dog that you can take anywhere, Ramsey is your guy! The fee to adopt Ramsey is $475. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, his neuter, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Ramsey tested positive for Heartworm. This is a very treatable illness that is common in many shelter dogs coming from the South. Treatment will be paid for by the rescue. For more information on heartworm, visit our blog. If you think that Ramsey might be your perfect match, apply today!March 2, 2025, 5:20 pm

Story
Roxy is a funny little dog who is a lot of fun to have around. She is low maintenance, she loves going for long walks, and is always up for them (rain or shine). She loves walking around a fenced yard and really entertains herself just by exploring. She is super athletic she jumps on top of a 4 foot gate & walks on the top of it (on a skinny little metal pole) , so a fenced yard has to be pretty tall for her. It looks like she is a gymnast on a very skinny balance beam! She might be a great agility dog but unlike many dogs like that, she is not demanding. We joke because of her tough looks that she the is really a guardian angel disguised as small four-legged bouncer. She does not chew on things she shouldn't and goes outside of her run so we believe she is likely housetrained. If you are interested in Roxy please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Roxy! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17424 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Roxy, or to submit an online application. Please contact Nancy Anderson (nancya@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet elongated girl seeking fresh start and love! RISE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Rise      Best Guess for Breed: Dachshund and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of December 2024       Gender:   Female Approximate Weight:   23 lbs Gets Along With: Rise does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a friendly resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats. We would be cautious placing Rise in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus - looking forward to heading to the DC area Special Adoption Considerations: Rise is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Additionally, Rise was rescued off the streets of Puerto Rico and hasn't seen enough of the world yet. She is shy and needs go to a home with a friendly, welcoming dog. Rise is Looking For: Her forever family! She was very relieved to be rescued off the streets in Puerto Rico and now just wants her very own home. But she needs extra patient and loving adopters who understand she hasn't seen enough of the world, and many things are scary. She needs new experiences in new places at her pace. A welcoming resident dog will show her how to dog, and training will help her build her braves as well! And in exchange, she promises all the love in her little body, all the adoring gazes and kisses she's stockpiling in the shelter, and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her trotting along on her little legs by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
