LUCKY IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO VA ONCE HE IS ADOPTED! Lucky is his name, and he has EARNED it. This parvo survivor is a 5-6 month old mixed breed puppy. His mom was a dachshund, and his dad is a complete guess. He is only 20 lbs, and we don't expect him to get much bigger. He loves other dogs and children, but Lucky is afraid of cats. He is working on house breaking with a few accidents here and there, but he is currently training being taken out often and especially after eating. He will pick it up soon! He loves balls and toys. His favorite thing to do is get up in your lap and cuddle when he is tired. Lucky is fully vetted including neuter, microchip, puppy shots as well as rabies shot. His adoption fee of $550 includes the transport to VA. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Lucky up north after he is adopted. The owner of Arlo, Lainey and 4 other akc registered doxies was living in a rental home with 4 children and the landlord said the dogs had to go. Her mom took them while she was supposed to find another place to live but that did not happen. Her mom had 3 dogs of her own and was overwhelmed so she asked for help. All the dogs are sweet but we took Arlo and Lainey. These two are quite bonded so we are going to try to place them together. They are both spay/neutered, UTD on vaccines and HW negative, They will also be microchipped. In their original home, they were left on a self feeder and I am afraid Arlo overindulged. He needs a home where they will go for walks and watch their diets. but he is so so sweet and cute! Loves cuddles and kisses! They both seem to be reliably housetrained. Arlo is a red pie bald and Lainey is a black and tan wirehaired doxie. Arlo was born on 8/13/2020 so he is 4 years old, Lainey is 3. Sunshine (12 yo) came to K Kids with her older sister Vanessa a few months ago when their momma couldn't take care of them anymore. Unfortunately we lost Vanessa to some serious health issues recently. Sunshine is a barky sassy dachshund girl. She loves to tell the other dogs in her foster home who the boss is (hint: it's her!) She had a recent dentals and had some major extractions, but that doesn't stop her from thinking she can take on the world, haha. She l oves adventuring in her foster's yard and going for walks. She also love laps and attention. She is very loyal and loving and chill, reliability housebroken and crate trained. Sunshine really likes food and we have to be really careful with her weight. Sunshine has had 2 IVDD episodes since she's been with us. Both times have been in her neck and both have been painful and have impacted her ability to walk for a period of time. With some meds and rest, she recovered. We can’t guarantee that won’t happen again, but she shouldn’t do a lot of stairs, jumping, etc. That should help prevent reoccurrences. Athena is a little shy around new people and will make a lot of noise when a visitor comes around, but when we took her to an adoption event, she enjoyed saying hi to all the people who came to say hi to her. Athena does like to climb and perch on things, such as chairs, tables, and counters. Athena might be part cat!!! Speaking of cats, we aren't sure how they do with them, but they seem to do fine with children, although it might take them a bit to get used to very tiny people. Athena is crated trained and pee-pad trained and housebroken when kept on a schedule (so she's a dachshund). Athena doesn't mind other dogs. Athena's adoption fee will be $300 and she will be fully vetted before she is adopted. We rescued 17 dachshund and chiweenies in August. They had not been socialized, their owner died in the house. We are slowly working with these babies and the ones we feel are ready, we get fixed and find them homes. These babies will need a patient family who will work with getting them comfortable in a new house. They may be flight risks so will need to be monitored all the time. Some have been adopted already and have done well. They are not used to being petted, picked up or touched.They are not used to kids so slow introductions will be needed but we don’t see them not liking kids. They are such brave little ones that we are determined they will all eventually get new homes. Ranger is the tallest of the group, not sure what gene is in there! He likes to walk his ‘perimeter’ and bark at anyone who comes near. He likes to play although they aren’t sure how to. He has the little dog energy and would be great with any family. He is located in Tennessee but can be transported to you though Rescue Riders.
