Story
Roxy is a funny little dog who is a lot of fun to have around. She is low maintenance, she loves going for long walks, and is always up for them (rain or shine). She loves walking around a fenced yard and really entertains herself just by exploring. She is super athletic she jumps on top of a 4 foot gate & walks on the top of it (on a skinny little metal pole) , so a fenced yard has to be pretty tall for her. It looks like she is a gymnast on a very skinny balance beam! She might be a great agility dog but unlike many dogs like that, she is not demanding. We joke because of her tough looks that she the is really a guardian angel disguised as small four-legged bouncer. She does not chew on things she shouldn't and goes outside of her run so we believe she is likely housetrained. If you are interested in Roxy please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Roxy! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17424 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Roxy, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

Story
The sweetest dog we've ever met. So gentle and loves to cuddle. Favorite things: belly rubs, scratches and walks. She loves to play with her stuffed animals and loves chase with our teens. She doesn't nip and is potty trained. She hasn't touched our belongings but likes to explore the house. She probably would do best as the only dog in the family or with a young or smaller dog. Come meet her! She's so cute and loving Visit https://www.wtarescue.com/adoption-process-2 to request a meet and greet and learn more about our adoption process! Have questions? Story
Meet Amelia. This sweet girl was surrendered to a rural county shelter along with two other pregnant dogs from the same home. Stories like this break our hearts—three expectant moms under one roof, likely the result of unaltered male and female dogs living together. When the shelter reached out for help, Worthy Dog Rescue stepped in. We took in Amelia, and one of our partner rescues welcomed her puppies, ensuring this little family gets the bright future they deserve. Thankfully, Amelia was able to deliver her puppies in the safety and comfort of a foster home, where she proved to be an attentive, loving mom. It was immediately clear that she adores people—she’s affectionate, cuddly, and always eager for human companionship. She also has excellent doggy social skills, getting along with every pup she meets. Currently, she’s in a foster home with a larger dog and three cats. Her foster mom describes her as a very friendly pup who adjusts well to new situations—"A couple of sniffs, and she’s good to go!" She enjoys playdates with a neighbor’s dog and loves romping around with her foster sibling. Amelia is still young, with all the energy and enthusiasm of adolescence. She’s always up for an adventure—whether it’s a walk (which she loves!), a road trip, backyard zoomies, or a car ride. She’s social, confident, and the perfect sidekick for an active household. But when the day winds down, she’s also a champion cuddler, happiest curled up on the couch with her favorite human. She sleeps soundly through the night, nestled in a cozy ball on her foster parent’s bed. House manners? Amelia has them! She’s fully house-trained and has never had an accident in her foster home. She tolerates the crate for treats (even if it’s not her favorite), and her leash skills are decent—she may pull a little when excited to meet a new dog, but only out of friendly enthusiasm. Her foster mom describes her as medium-high energy—she’s playful and active but also respectful of the older dog in the home, knowing when to settle down and entertain herself with a toy or nap. We think that Amelia would thrive in an active home with another playful pup and maybe some kids to romp around with. She’s a fantastic family dog just waiting for the perfect match. Apply today! Story
https://foha.org/pet/zamboni2025/ Hi, I’m Zamboni! I may be a dachshund-lab mix, but let’s be real—I’m 100% adorable. From the moment I arrived at FOHA, I went straight into a foster home, and so far, I’ve been 99.9% AMAZING! I love people, I’ve met kids and done great, I’m good with cats, and I get along with dogs of all sizes. I sleep through the night like a champ and am mostly housebroken (just one little oopsie so far). But here comes the “but”… I’m a dachshund mix, and true to my breed, I have a lot to say. Dachshunds were bred to be alert and vocal hunters, so I like to let my people know when something exciting (or, you know, just everyday life) is happening. My foster is working with me on my barking, but because of it, I probably wouldn’t be the best fit for an apartment. I’ll need continued training and socialization to fine-tune my greetings with new people and my watchdog tendencies at home. I’m also still young, which means I have plenty of energy to burn! Don’t get me wrong—I love a good cuddle nap on the couch, but I’m not quite ready for a life of snoozing all day. I need daily walks to keep me happy, and I’d love to go on adventures when time allows. Whether it’s exploring a trail, playing in the yard, or just getting out and about, I’m always up for some fun! On paper, I sound like the perfect pup—and I totally am! But I’ll need a family that’s ready to put in the work to make me 100% awesome. If you’re looking for a cute, loving, and spunky little guy with a dash of sass, I might just be your perfect match! Let’s meet and see if we’re meant to be!

Please contact Nancy Anderson (nancya@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet elongated girl seeking fresh start and love! RISE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Rise      Best Guess for Breed: Dachshund and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of December 2024       Gender:   Female Approximate Weight:   23 lbs Gets Along With: Rise does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a friendly resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats. We would be cautious placing Rise in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus - looking forward to heading to the DC area Special Adoption Considerations: Rise is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Additionally, Rise was rescued off the streets of Puerto Rico and hasn't seen enough of the world yet. She is shy and needs go to a home with a friendly, welcoming dog. Rise is Looking For: Her forever family! She was very relieved to be rescued off the streets in Puerto Rico and now just wants her very own home. But she needs extra patient and loving adopters who understand she hasn't seen enough of the world, and many things are scary. She needs new experiences in new places at her pace. A welcoming resident dog will show her how to dog, and training will help her build her braves as well! And in exchange, she promises all the love in her little body, all the adoring gazes and kisses she's stockpiling in the shelter, and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her trotting along on her little legs by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Name:  Moonshine        Best Guess for Breed:   Dachshund / Hound mix    Best Guess for Age:    2 years as if 01/24/2025     Gender:  male Approximate Weight:   13 lbs.  Gets Along With: with other dogs; Moonshine hasn't been observed with kids or cats but we can test. Currently Living At: the shelter, Moonshine needs a foster and a forever home. Special Adoption Considerations: Moonshine is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Moonshine is Looking For: his very own family! At two years old, Moonshine’s still quite energetic and playful, enjoying games of fetch, tug-of-war, and exploring his surroundings. He has a curious nature, often poking his nose into everything to investigate new scents and objects. Dachshunds love to burrow under the covers and climb into baskets full of laundry. Don't let Moonshine's short legs fool you. Dachshunds are active and need regular exercise to stay healthy and happy. Daily walks, playtime, and mental stimulation are essential to keep him engaged and content. Socialization with different people, dogs, and environments will help Moonshine grow into a well-rounded and confident adult dog. Dachshunds can be quite vocal, using their barks to communicate excitement, alertness, or the presence of something interesting. For people living in apartments we can talk more about ways to address excessive barking. Positive reinforcement, consistency, and patience are key in training any dog. What My Foster Says About Me: We will update as soon as Moonshine arrives and spends some time with a foster. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.
