Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update, 1/15/25:  We found out from a family member that this little one's name is actually Bree and from now on we will be call her Bree, rather than the name we assigned her when she first came to the shelter. She is the sweetest little 12-year-old or older spayed mix imaginable! We got devastating news today when we got back the results of her bloodwork from last week. She is in stage two chronic kidney disease, and because we have no health history on her, we assume this is something that has been in the works for some time without treatment. She lost her human dad last week, and is now in a foster home where she is being loved while we determine the next course of action. We do need to start her immediately on sub-q fluids twice weekly as supportive care, and will also start feeding her special formulated kidney diet. Her foster mom loves her deeply, and realizes we may have a very difficult time finding her a home now that she has been diagnosed with this disease. It cannot be reversed, but we can manage to help her live longer through good care. We don’t often get special needs cases like this, but when we do, we need time to  figure out the next piece of the long-term care puzzle. Please pray for us to make wise decisions as we move forward.       Gina (now Bree) is 12 to 14 years old, and was brought to us following the death of her owner. She was devastated to be by herself, and we are devastated that she no longer has her family to support her. We are still getting to know her, but a foster mom felt strongly that she needed to be cared for and warm for the past week, and has been spoiling her in her foster home. Gina is fine with other dogs, non-reactive to cats, and is very responsive to being loved. She has seen a vet for bloodwork and we will soon have the results so we will know what long-term prognosis may be for her as an adopted pet.  PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 21, 2025, 4:28 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sunshine (12 yo) came to K Kids with her older sister Vanessa a few months ago when their momma couldn't take care of them anymore. Unfortunately we lost Vanessa to some serious health issues recently.   Sunshine is a barky sassy dachshund girl. She loves to tell the other dogs in her foster home who the boss is (hint: it's her!) She had a recent dentals and had some major extractions, but that doesn't stop her from thinking she can take on the world, haha. She l oves adventuring in her foster's yard and going for walks. She also love laps and attention. She is very loyal and loving and chill, reliability housebroken and crate trained. Sunshine really likes food and we have to be really careful with her weight.   Sunshine has had 2 IVDD episodes since she's been with us. Both times have been in her neck and both have been painful and have impacted her ability to walk for a period of time. With some meds and rest, she recovered. We can’t guarantee that won’t happen again, but she shouldn’t do a lot of stairs, jumping, etc. That should help prevent reoccurrences. Go to kkidsrescue.org to apply. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sydney came with her brother Benny, and we'd like to keep them together.  They would up at a rural shelter together.  Clearly someone "loved" Sydney with food!  She's already lost a little weight and is currently 56 pounds, which is something near double what she should weigh. Her foster mom is working on her weight, and she is having a Cushing's test done at the vet soon.  She is healthy otherwise.  She likes to hang out in the AC and roll around in the grass.   An adopter for Sydney will need to be willing to work on her weight loss journey and treat any additional conditions she is diagnosed with.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 13, 2024, 4:16 pm
