Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.vetting incompleteMeet Jenny - Jenny is a sweet, snuggly dachshund with a gentle soul and a heart full of love, she just needs a little time to show it. This shy girl can be timid at first, especially around women, but once she warms up, she becomes incredibly affectionate and devoted. When she trusts you, she’ll happily curl up in your lap, soak up all the pets, and drift off to sleep while you watch TV together. Jenny truly loves being around her people. She’s a little shadow who feels most comfortable when she’s close by, and she’ll reward you with endless cuddles and quiet companionship. She’s also on a weight loss journey and will need a committed adopter to help her get back to her ideal 14 lbs (currently 20 lbs). Keeping her healthy is especially important for her long dachshund back. Jenny enjoys her walks and even loves a good game of fetch, especially if a squeaky toy is involved! Because she’s a bit of a foodie, she’ll need someone who can stick to a structured feeding routine and limit extra treats. Jenny is: Leash trained and enjoys walks Crate trained (sleeps well overnight and when you’re away) Good in the car Gentle, affectionate, and good with other dogs A certified lap dog and cuddle expert She is  partially house trained and does very well when kept on a consistent schedule.  She’ll need potty breaks every 3–4 hours and right after waking up. With routine, she’s successful going outside on the grass. Jenny can be a little nervous when crated while people are home and may need time to settle when left alone, but she is able to self-soothe. She also has a bit of a curious streak and may try to sneak out, so a secure home and attentive adopter are important. Jenny would thrive in a patient, loving home that will give her the time she needs to blossom. In return, you’ll get the sweetest little cuddle buddy who just wants to love and be loved.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 17, 2026, 10:24 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDR 3883Meet Cannoli, a beautiful petite black and tan piebald female about five years old. Cannoli is an active girl who loves other dogs and plays hard with the other dachshunds in her foster home. She grew up as an only dog and is finally learning to play and chase around the yard to her heart's content. Cannoli was surrendered when she started to feel teritorial in her own home and exhibited some nippy behavior with the husband and young teenaged son. She is a sweet girl, but it takes her a while to trust and we consider her slow to warm up to strangers. Once she knows you, she will stick like glue to her person.   We don't recommend a home with children; we feel that she has been through a lot in her short life that probably an adult only home is best. Other dogs are a plus and help her settle in and adjust. Once she knows and trusts you she only wants to please!   She will require patience and understanding but she will make a wonderful lifelong companion.  Consider giving her a chance.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 12:37 pm

She accepted me quickly and is very loving. She LOVES toys and snuggling in your lap. Bella can be a little bossy with the resident dogs, so she might be best as an only dog or maybe one other submissive dog in the household. She would be the perfect companion for someone looking for a calm, sweet little girl to snuggle with.                                  *****Meet Bella. She's a sweet senior chiweenie girl who came to ATDR via another rescue group. Bella was dumped at BARC by her owner, who requested she be euthanized. Bella was flea infested, missing patches of fur and was heavy heartworm positive. It hurts our hearts to know Bella was in that state of neglect as an 'owned' pet. She wasn't a stray. Bella has a heart murmur but that doesn't slow her down one bit. Bella is full of spunk. Bella will finished her last heartworm treatment and is ready for a forever home of her own. Bella is a little doll. Her foster mom says she loves having her. She is crate and house trained. Bella enjoys sunbathing outside. Even though it appears she prefers women, she enjoys being with people and gets along well with other dogs. Bella is a cuddle bug. She will make a fantastic little lap dog for some lucky adopter after she’s on the road to better health! Her ideal home would be with someone who is retired or works from home looking for a warm pup to share their comfortable chair or sofa with! Bella is a precious girl who loves her person! Please consider opening your home and your heart to this special senior baby and submit an adoption application for Bella! She’ll be the best little friend and companion you could ever hope to find! He loves his foster home with so many other pups to play with! The grub is good too thanks to his foster mom. He's going to need a doggy friend who's up to playing nonstop, as well as parents who can keep up with him in a forever home. A securely fenced yard where he can spend energy will be a big help also.
