Meet Mater, a 2-year-old dachshund with a heart of gold. His story is one of resilience and hope. Mater was adopted as a puppy in January 2023, but his life took an unexpected turn when he was returned to us in June due to no fault of his own. He was scared, unsure, and faced new people and walls daily. Despite this, we showered him with unconditional love until he was adopted again a month later. However, Mater's second adoption was short-lived. He struggled to connect with the adopter's spouse and stood his ground against their 60lb resident dog, showing a fierce determination. Unfortunately, this led to his return to us once more. Now, Mater thrives in his foster home, but his experiences have left emotional scars. We believe his behavior stems from the unknown, stress, worry, and fear. He's been passed around, and his sense of security has been shaken. To ensure Mater's happiness, we recommend an adoption as an only dog or with experienced pet owners with no children. If you're willing to take a chance on this sweet boy, please fill out the application below. Mater deserves a loving home where he can feel safe, loved, and cherished. Let's give Mater the second chance he deserves.

Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. STRAY NEW INTAKE 12/14/2024 STRAY HOLD THRU END OF DAY 12/18/2024 This dog was found tied by a cable to a highway sign off of Hwy 154 in the Elm Grove area one morning about two weeks ago.  She wasn't quite sure what to do at the time and then found out about us and reached out.  We made contact and took him in.  He is not microchipped. We have notified animal control that we have him and he has been registered in their system.  If no one comes forward by END OF DAY on 12/18/2024, he will be legally our dog and we will send him to our vet for vetting and then place him for adoption. You must show proof this is your dog via pictures... vet records, etc. We don't go off of "see if the dog will answer to xxxx". We don't go off of someone just saying the dog is their dog. You must have PROOF! We do NOT take applications for dogs UNTIL they are posted for adoption provided no owner comes forward during stray.  Early applications BEFORE the dog is posted for adoption will not be processed.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  For reference we named him Darrell. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings.
