Welcome to the Wonderful World of Rescue Dachshunds.  Look around and read their bios.  Find a few whose personality seems to fit well.  Consider one of our Well Seasoned Seniors who are truly wonderful and have so much to offer.  Need help finding the best fit?  We'll help with that too.  Please fill out an application and let’s get you all matched up with a loving new “furever’ companion and friend. You’ll find the application on the “Available Dogs” page.  NOTE:   Adoptions to Central/South Texas residents only    Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Meet Bella Hope! This 11-year-old chiweenie is a pint-sized bundle of joy with the biggest ears and eyes that melt your heart! We think when she gives us the “stare” she’s just trying to hypnotize us to give her extra treats! She has the softest, quirkiest quack of a bark! She loves to burrow under ALL the blankets and occasionally serenades us with the cutest little snores during her beauty sleep. Bella does wear a diaper held up by suspenders because, let’s face it, her little bohiney is just too petite! After several vet visits and extensive bloodwork for diabetes, Cushing’s, and even kidney and bladder issues , there is nothing medically wrong with her. We suspect her potty-training issues are more neurological due to the fact her first 5+ years of her life she lived in an apartment and never went out to potty. But fear not, the diapers are easy to change, come in a lot of fun colors, and don’t bother her one bit! She zips around like a champ! Please consider giving this precious little girl a home. She is very loving, cuddly, easy-going, and overall simply a joy to be around!                   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Love dachshunds and not ready to adopt or circumstances won't permit having a dog?  How about being a sponsor or making a donation.  Every one of our dachshunds receives excellent medical care along with day to day food, love and housing.  Being non-profit, we rely on generous individuals like yourselves to help save these fur babies.  You can do this specifically for one dog with the sponsor button on their webpage or a general donation on our “How To Help” page.  Easy and quick through Pay Pal or your debit/credit card.  You generosity is sincerely appreciated by all and is tax deductable.  Need other ideas?  You'll find tons of them on the How to Help tab.  All contributions are tax deductable.   Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!         April 3, 2025, 12:37 pm

Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Jenny Marie is a 9 year old female dachshund. Jenny Marie was found in a ditch by a fireman. She swears she was only there because she thought she could find some juvenile turtles who would share their pizza but was grateful to be rescued like in those Hallmark movies.   It is impossible to meet Jenny and not instantly fall in love with her. She fits the mold of a Dachshund to the “D” at the beginning and end.   Jenny has sass, courage, and makes a situation hers. She is also loyal, affectionate, and loves to share your space. Jenny also loves her foster siblings and other short dogs she meets.  She has come a long way.  Her skin is healed from the infection, although she may have some scaring from how bad it was.  Her eyes are doing so much better.  She will need eye meds the rest of her life to help keep them as healthy as can be.  Making sure she gets her eye meds as prescribed is so important to help save her eyes. Please only consider her for adoption if you are willing to give eye meds the rest of her life! Jenny wants to continue her fairy tail life with you, so fill out that adoption form!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Hope Angel is a 6 year old chocolate female dachshund and she weighs 14 pounds.  She lost her home due to the owners health.  Hope is a loving dog that just needs a little patience at the beginning because she is shy to new people and things.  Once she is comfortable, she is super sweet and is perfect for anyone looking for a lap dog that loves attention. She loves to eat and cuddle on the couch.  Hope needs an adopter that is home more often and another dog for companionship when you aren't home. She doesn't do well being left all day and alone. She is good about using the puppy pad and if she had it her way she would never go outside.  Hope would prefer a quieter home where she can be lazy and cuddle often. The foster has just learned during the holiday break, that Hope is a door darter.  She will need someone that understands that and will be very cautious to keep her safe.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Lola is a beautiful, 14lb. 4 year old smooth red doxie. Lola ended up in rescue because her owners had to move and couldn’t take her. She lived with 2 dogs in prior home. She hasn’t been in our foster home long. She is sweet loving and happy in our lap. Lola seems crate trained, and ok on leash in backyard. She has been calm so far and hasn’t barked yet. Sniffs the dogs in house. Let us know if your interested in this sweetheart. If you want a pair, she did come into rescue with Chico Rio.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. He is a very easy pup, nice and quiet and with a sweet and friendly  disposition.  He loves treats and belly rubs and he’s not shy about begging for both! Even though Jasper likes to follow foster mom around, he does enjoy relaxing on the couch, so he’d make the perfect companion for just about anyone. He may he 9 but he is pretty active and even initiates playtime with his foster sister.  He’s good around older, considerate kids. We are not sure about cats but so far he’s met them from afar and he didn’t seem reactive.   Jasper does well in the car and on the leash. He is crate trained as well.  He has gotten his shots and is neutered but he is waiting for a dental, in the meantime consider getting your application in to meet this amazing doxie!
