Story
Travis is a 1.5 year old, 13 lb Dachshund mix. He has such handsome markings and soulful eyes. He and nine other small dogs were dumped in East Texas, and Humane Tomorrow took them all into our adoption program. Foster mom says that he is very calm, loves cuddles, and enjoys snuggling under a blanket. He is even starting to show his playful side. Travis will be timid at first, so he needs adopters who will be patient with him and give him time and space to build trust, a calm environment where he feels safe and secure. With love and consistency, he will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. If you would like to give Travis a forever home that really does last forever, please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you. Travis has heartworms because he was not kept on heartworm prevention. Humane Tomorrow will pay for his treatment with our partner vet, and the treatments are very successful.

Story
Abigail is one of the pups from our Swifties group. She is a 1.5 year old, 10 lb Dachshund Chihuahua mix. She and nine other small dogs were dumped on a country road in East Texas, and Humane Tomorrow took them all into our adoption program. Foster mom says that Abigail has a big heart and even bigger cuddle habit. Abigail was scared of the world when she first arrived, but with a little love and patience from her foster family, she has blossomed into a sweet, spunky, little companion. Mealtime is her favorite part of the day, and she does the cutest little happy dance in circles while her food is being prepared. Abigail is great on leash and enjoys walks around the neighborhood. She likes playing with the other dog, and she has learned how much fun toys are! She loves to sit in a little dog bed by foster mom's desk while she is working. Abigail needs a calm loving home where she can continue to feel safe and adored. In return, she will be a loyal cuddle buddy. Abigail has heartworms because she wasn't kept on heartworm prevention, but Humane Tomorrow will pay for her treatment with our partner vet, and the treatments are very successful. If you would like to give Abigail a forever home that really does last forever, please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Story
Simon was recently returned to our rescue and is back searching for a FOSTER or FOREFVER FAMILYno fault to him - after much work, the family's two cats just could not get along with Simon. Simon is the SWEETEST boy.  He absolutely ADORES children. He may not be able to fight someone off your kid, but if some unknown human comes around your kiddo, Simon will make sure to ALERT YOU, and let that that unknown person know he's watching them!  He is very protective over kiddos and loves them deeply. In his previous home, he frequented doggy day care where he played non stop with other dogs and he has done well living with other dogs in his foster home. Cats have different personalities and quirks just like everyone else.  Simon gets along great with cats that are USED to and UNBOTHERED by dogs, will snuggle and try to play with them, but he is reactive to cats that are reactive towards him. Simon loves walks and car rides.  He is also an amazing snuggle buddy who loves belly scratches! He is crate and potty trained.  If you have a dog door, he knows how to use it! Simon has shown no distructive behaviors.  He is well mannered and knows many basic commands (he will really show off for a treat or two)He loves other dogs and loves to play fetch or tug! He came from a not so great situation origionally and is not the most confident boy at times, but it is something he strives to improve every single day.He can be cautious of men and new dogs at first, but everyone becomes his new best friend after a few minutes with proper introduction! If Simon sounds like the great match for your household, please submit an application to FOSTER OR ADOPT this handsome boy. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and current on prevention. ##2196691##

Story
Honey is a 6-month-old, 8-pound Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) who is aptly named as she is sweet as sweet can be. Honey’s sole goal in life is to be petted and loved and told what a pretty girl she is. The very second you sit down, FOOM! She’s in your lap ready for pets and scritches. Wherever you go in the house—to the kitchen, down the hallway, into the bathroom—she will follow. Puppies her age usually like to split their time between play and affections, but not Honey: she wants lovings all the time. Honey lives in a foster home with 6 other dogs and 5 cats, and she gets along well with all of them. If one of the younger dogs pushes her to play, she will, but otherwise, she’d just as soon follow her people about. She’s just a little bit shy at first, but welcomes strangers into the home, sensing the opportunity for more attention and a possible treat. As an older puppy, Honey has her manners down. She doesn’t chew anything. You can leave her alone in the house and come back to find it undisturbed. She is potty-pad trained and mostly housetrained, although you should expect to have to do some work with her in a new home. She is not food aggressive and she rarely barks—only when she senses danger to the home (read: the Amazon guy). She will happily sleep in your bed, but if you don’t allow it, she’ll settle on a nearby chair. She rides well in a car. Honey was found wandering the streets in the Rio Grande Valley. Even with that rough start of life, she is totally trusting of people and loves everybody. She would do fine in either a house or an apartment, with a family, couple or single. She is very adaptable, so long as there is someone there to provide copious amounts of love. Honey’s adoption fee is $275 and includes spay, all shots & microchip. Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.
