You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet David, a 5 year old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who weighs in at about 10 lbs.  He is very smart with perfect house manners, and just a well behaved canine companion overall.  David is good around children (over the age of 6 due to his small size) and loves attention from anyone willing to give it.  He thinks that treats from a human’s hand are the best thing in the world!  David has a brother named Goliath that looks just like him, but with Dachshund floppy ears who's also up for adoption.  They get along great but do not have to be adopted together.  As with all our rescue dogs, they're neutered and up to date on their vaccinations, worming, flea control and heartworm prevention.  Their adoption fee is just $125 each.If one or both of these 'wiener dogs' may be the perfect pets for you please click on the green arrow icon at the top of the page to fill out an online adoption application (no cost or obligation).  Once approved we'll be delighted to set up a time for you to come and visit with them in person.  Thank you for considering one of our rescue pets.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 21, 2025, 5:50 pm

Story
Jacob Miller is a 2-year-old Dachshund mix weighing 24 pounds, and he’s ready to steal your heart! This boy came to CAMO Rescue as a stray, and while it takes him a little time to open up, his sweet personality and heart of gold will quickly win you over. Once he feels comfortable, Jacob is all about fun—he loves romping around the yard and playing toss with his favorite toy. Jacob walks well on a leash, making him an excellent companion for strolls around the neighborhood or trips to the park. With patience, love, and a little playtime, Jacob is sure to bring endless joy to his forever home. He will do best in a home with no other dogs or cats. If you’re looking for a loyal and playful pup to brighten your days, Jacob Miller might just be your perfect match! Adoption fee is: $375 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Bandit is the perfect dog for someone who loves to snuggle but he is not a good fit for homes with small children. If he gets startled or there's new children that move fast towards him, he gets scared and reacts aggressively. That's the only reason we're looking to re-home him, he's reacted that way with my children and while he hasn't hurt them yet, I can't risk it. When he's home with his people though, he's the biggest lover and snuggler. Also in post is Indy, his sister. Both born 5/4/24 She has the same snuggle loves but none of the aggressiveness. She loves belly rubs! She's a little princess. She will come with her own bowl, because she won't eat out of anything else. They have never been separated so they would need to be adopted together. They come with a wooden corner crate that they sleep in. The only reason I said not up to date with shots is that they are just now due for their next shots. Up until now they are up to date. Both are fixed and microchipped.

Story
Odie - Wirehaired Dachshund Mix - Male - 3 years - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Odie: This gorgeous 3-year-old Wirehaired Dachshund and maybe Bassett Hound mix is sweet and gentle but also a little shy and timid. Odie was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer take care of him, and he's getting comfortable in his new foster home. Odie takes a while to warm up to new people - he mostly avoids eye contact until he figures out if he can trust you. Odie does well with other calm dogs his size - he's not looking for a playmate, but rather a parallel companion he can follow and mirror. He is not a fan of being alone and will voice that displeasure in a manner that suggests that his DNA contains some Bassett  Hound in there - along with the "he's a very long lowrider, isn't he?". He is fully house trained, walks well on leash and rides comfortably in the car. Odie is getting comfortable enough to play with his new toys. We suspect that Odie's vision isn't the best as he closely follows his chosen dog mentor around the house - this could also explain his lack of making eye contact with people. He follows his humans around the house, but not in a clingy Velcro dog manner, more in a supervisory capacity. Odie is looking for a patient home that will give him time to gain trust and security. He does OK with children that can respect his boundaries = if he moves away, let him. Another dog for him to follow will likely immediately increase his comfort level, as will someone who is home a lot. Odie is not a good candidate for a first time owner, nor is he suited for apartment living, as he will alert the neighbors the minute you step out. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets*** ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 3rd of each month UPDATE: Little Man , known as Stan:   Stan is 11-years young with a lot of love to give and lives for the simple joys in life: a cozy couch, a good daily walk, and a person he can trust. He is housetrained, crate-trained at night, great around other dogs, and happiest when he's right by your side at home or riding in the car.  Stan does have some special quirks. He has separation anxiety and doesn’t like to be left alone—he’ll make his feelings known if he's scared or uncomfortable, sometimes by growling or even biting. Because of this, Stan is looking for an experienced, patient adopter who understands canine body language and can provide a calm, adult-only home with a predictable routine.  In the right environment, Stan is a deeply loyal little shadow who just wants to be loved and feel safe. If you’re home most of the time and have the heart to help a senior dog feel secure, Stan might be your perfect match.  Little Man, also known as Stan the Man, has found himself back in Rescue.  His adopter had picked him up as he had many times before and Little Man nipped him in the face, but since then he has not had any other incidents.  We would recommend a home with NO children.   Meet Little Man!  This handsome senior boy was surrendered to the shelter by his owners as they no longer wanted him.  CTDR was contacted and we immediately said yes and his foster Mom went right away to get him.  He has started his vetting process and as soon as he is neutered and microchipped he will be ready for his forever home.  Could that be you?  If so, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org.
