Story
This is Cher. She is an approximately 1 yr old Dachshund from a property up near Cookeville. Her and all her siblings had been running loose, with very little human interaction. We have her Brother, Johnny and Sonny as well as her sister June, who we will post next. The boys have made great strides in learning to trust and interact with humans, and the girls have been making significant progress as well, but could still use more positive human time. needs to have a dog friend.  ##1945202##

After only one week, Bandit has become part of the pack. He loves playing with toys and his brother (check out his video). It took him only a week to adjust and he is getting even more comfy each day. He cuddles and loves to get kisses. Bandit did sleep in the crate the first few nights here but started crying around 5:30 am. He currently sleeps in the bed with us and does great. He sleeps in late and barely moves around except to give more cuddles and kisses. Leash training is still a task, and some days are better than others. Bandit continues to do well in foster care. He loves to play and chase his foster brother, so a playmate is a must! He does love to bark, like many dachshunds do. He still gets nervous if you reach down when standing up, but he is doing so much better every day. Take a chance with this cutie, and you won't be sorry! Our must-haves for adorable Bandit include: A fenced yard Another young, small dog that is well socialized so he can learn from them Someone with patience or breeder dog experience who understands it is going to take time A single-family home only Someone who could be home more than not If you meet all these requirements and want to adopt, please go to our website and apply online. Bandit is a handsome guy, so don’t wait!  ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. She loves palling around the fenced-in yard with her 3 foster sisters and barking at all the squirrels, deer, and wild turkeys. She gets very scared at any loud noise and will take off running, so a fenced yard is a must. Gretta loves to snuggle on the couch when you are relaxing. She will get all excited if she thinks it’s time to get on the couch! She is still very timid around strangers, which will take time and work. She has come a long way since coming to her foster home, but a lot of work still needs to be done to make Gretta a wonderful and loving pet. This little girl is worth every minute of it! BIO:   If you are looking for a young sweetie, look at Gretta!  Gretta came from Alabama when her owner was evicted from her home. A Good Samaritan took her so she would have a soft landing. Unfortunately, she was not well-socialized as a puppy and, therefore, is timid around strangers. She has gotten much better since coming into rescue, but the new adopters will need time and patience for her to come around. She has just had so many changes. If you give Gretta a chance, she will make a wonderful pet and companion! Our must-haves for sweet Gretta include: A fenced in yard Another young, small dog to play with and learn from Someone willing to take the time with Gretta so she can learn to trust and become a pet No apartments, high-rises, or condos; she would be very uncomfortable in these situations ============= Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Tobi came from Maryland when his owner had to work too many hours to give him the time he needed, so they contacted us to help find him a home. Tobi loves toys to the point that he will protect them, so if you have another dog, there could be a scuffle over the toys. Tobi, however, is also good as an only dog if you work from home or are a stay-at-home person. It’s important that you can keep up with his energy level because he loves zoomies and playing catch when you throw the ball - just don’t expect him to bring it back, you have to work for it! He is young so keep in mind you have to be young enough to keep him happy, could that be you? Maybe you need a jogging buddy? Tobi is good with strangers as long as the proper introductions are made, and he doesn’t really care for a man with a hat on. Tobi does have some separation anxiety, which is why he may do better with a younger small FEMALE dog to play with and keep him company if you do have to go out. Our must-haves for adorable Tobi include: A fenced yard Someone who is home more often than not A submissive young small female dog to play with and pal around with No apartments, condos, townhomes, or high-rises; shared walls would not be good If you meet all these requirements, please fill out our online adoption application.    ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Bitsy is the sweetest little girl and only wants to give kisses. She does have submissive peeing issues, but with each passing week, she is getting better. We think she was either scolded or harshly disciplined for being bad. Towering over her makes her think she’s in trouble, so we try not to do that. Someone needs to adopt this girl, give her tons of love, and help her gain some confidence. If you do that, she will return it tenfold... can you do that? She is, of course, still a puppy, so if you do not have another young small dog for her to play with and you are not active yourself, then she is not the girl for you. Keep in mind she could live another 14-15 years, and we want this to be her last home since she has already had two in her short life. Story
Jake is a fun loving, easy going, energetic meatball! He's about 2-3yo, UTD on shots, HW negative, neutered, & definitely a lover not a fighter! Jake is also HW negative & 62lbs! Does good with dogs & all adults! He literally just wants to be loved on & was so excited to get to go riding, he just laid by me & wanted to be touched the whole time! Jake's smile will melt your heart! He was picked up as a stray on 7-6-23. Jake LOVES to ride, walk, play, chew on Kong toys, play in water, &&&& cuddle! Because Mr Jumping Jake thinks he is Rocky Balboa, he needs to be in a house with no small kids, small dogs, or cats. Not because he doesn't like them, he is just a rough player & may accidentally plow them over. Jake does great in a crate with his Kong toys. Jake would do best with someone who will provide some structure and obedience training. He needs some help learning how to use his energetic personality in a positive way. He's super food motivated and the training possibilities are endless! He absolutely LOVES playing in the water at the local Waterpaws event! And he met tons of new friends!
