He gets along with other small dogs.  We do not know about big dogs, so we are going to say “no” since he has never been around them. As Samson settles into his foster home, think about adopting him and giving him your love.  We will update his bio as we learn more about him. In the meantime, our must haves are: A fenced in yard Another small, adult, well socialized dog for him to learn from Someone that can be home more than not No apartment, high rises, or condos If you are wanting to adopt him then go to our website www.allamericandachshundrescue.org and fill out our online adoption application. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. NO CATS, RODENTS or BIRDS Since arriving at her foster home this little girl has gained confidence and her personality has blossomed.  Upon going to a new home, she may be timid for a while until she feels comfortable. BIO:  Pip came from Georgia when a Good Samaritan took her from a neglectful situation but could not keep her. She is very sweet but shy and will need time to warm up. So, if you do not have the patience to give her that time, then she is not the dog for you. You will have to look for another. Dogs come into rescue not because they are perfect, and you adopt them because you want to make them whole, but some take longer than others. Could you be the one to do that for Pip? She really needs time to know she is safe and to relax, and she will give you love, but she wants it back, too. Do not disappoint her; give her what she needs for the rest of her life. Our must-haves for precious Pip include: A fenced yard Another young, small, and well-socialized dog in the home Someone who can be home most of the time or works from home Please no apartments, condos, or high-rises Please reach out if you are interested. We will let you know all about this sweet, gentle girl looking for love. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. This little (and I mean little!) girl's tail never stops wagging! For a breeder dog, she is very socialized. Lexie does not know a stranger and is happy all the time. She has had a fresh dental and only lost one tooth, which is amazing for a breeder dog. If you are looking for a mini, then you have found her!  She will need further help with potty training. With that, she will be perfect!  She should not be allowed to weigh more than 7 pounds; anything over that and she’s too fat. Our must-haves for little Lexie include: A fenced yard Another young small dog for her to learn to play and cuddle with and learn potty habits Someone who is home more often than not No apartments, high-rises, or condos This is your chance to adopt a true mini, do not wait, she will be spoken for in no time. Foster mom really likes her, and if she were looking for a dog to foster fail, this would be the one, but you will be the lucky one if you pass and are approved to adopt her. Sadly, Daisy May was not socialized as a puppy and she is fearful of strangers but with people with whom she is familiar, she is fine and even good with children.  However, anyone wanting to adopt her must understand she will be timid for the first few days but after that she is very loving.  Daisy loves belly rubs and snuggling with you on the couch.  She is very affectionate, specializing in the ol’ tongue in the ear kisses.  She is energetic, loves to play with other pups and toys, and always greets you with lots of tail wags and kisses.  She is such a sweet girl!  She still has that great puppy energy.  Check-out Daisy's video of her playing with her friend Cody (who was adopted by her foster mom earlier this year).  Cody has only one complaint about his new little friend: she snores so LOUDLY!  He has sent us a video to prove it.  You can see it below and judge for yourself.  When we first heard it, we were not sure if that was Daisy snoring or maybe a mini ghost of Christmas past under that Christmas tree blanket! Daisy is doing well with her housetraining when kept on a schedule.  But her training will need to be continued in her new home.  Also, because she was not socialized as a puppy, her new family will need to allow her to experience new situations where she feels safe and become accustomed to being around new people. Our must haves for her are: Fenced in yard Someone home more than not Another young, small, well-socialized dog for her to learn from and play with Someone who will continue with her socialization and potty training No apartments, high rises or condos Daisy’s foster mom says she is a joy to have in her home and “just makes me smile with all her cuteness” as when she gets on her back, rolls around, and puts her back paw in her mouth. (Cuteness overload.)  Daisy just needs that forever home where she can feel safe, grow, and be her beautiful little self.  ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. He is well worth the effort. Our must-haves for adorable Buster include: A fenced yard A dachshund savvy adopter who is a leader Someone who is home more often than not or is retired Another small, adult or senior dog for him to hang with No apartments, high-rises, or condos.  He is a barker. Buster is most deserving of a loving home.  Could that be yours? BIO: After 9 years with his adoptive family, Buster came back to us because he didn't like the grandchildren visiting the home. The problem was that Buster thought he ran the house. He is leery of strangers due to a lack of socialization. With that being said, he’s a great dog and loves being with people and is fine with other dogs. Whoever adopts Buster must be the 'alpha' and let him know that he cannot run the show. When he understands that, he is a wonderful dog—happy and housebroken. He would do better with someone who is looking for a frosty face and is home most of the time. When you are home, he will follow you from room to room, but if you must leave, then he will bark. Are you willing to give him a chance at getting the last home of his life? Do not let his one behavior scare you off; it can be corrected, but you must be the alpha. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
