Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Blueberry is a 4 yr old male dachshund mix. He came into rescue a few months back. He had lived his entire life chained to a tree and his collar grew into his neck, which required surgical intervention. His wound is healed but he is left with a scar.Blueberry is 30 lbs - but he is very low to the ground. He is a happy, friendly boy who loves everyone and is eager to learn. He is crate trained and never has accidents in his crate. He is very food motivated so training should be easy for him.  He has a weird coat which we believe is due to dilute alopecia. He had almost no hair at all when he came to us, and his skin was severely sunburned, but it is slowly growing in. He may never have a thick coat. Dilute alopecia occurs in some dogs that are gray in color, it is a result of the genetics that create that color. It requires no treatment. Blueberry is good with other dogs. Blueberry started at the Paws in Prison program on 10/23/24. While there, he will work daily with an inmate on the basics and maybe even a few tricks, and  meet weekly with a dog trainer. In about 8 weeks he will graduate with his canine good citizen certificate and will be ready to go to a new home!  Neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Here’s a sad one and we know he’s not going to be the most popular, but we are hopeful. His name is Buster. He was found as a stray in horrible condition and we think he’d been in rough shape for quite a long time. His eyes were infected as well as his skin. We’ve treated his eyes and skin, but unfortunately, we think we’ve done pretty much all we can for his skin. We believe he was in this shape as a stray for so long, that his skin is permanently damaged. Some of his hair should continue to grown in but he may never have a full coat. He LOVES kids and he’s good with cats! He’s a sweet boy. He’s good with other dogs. We believe he is about 4 years old. He’s about 25-30 pounds. He is still on some eye drops and his foster mom is still giving baths with medicated shampoo every other week. We will send shampoo with whoever adopts this special boy and eye drops if still needed. We hope someone will see beyond his lack of fur and want to spoil this guy for the rest of his life. He is heartworm negative, UTD on vaccines, neutered, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available.
