What`s your sign? Let`s hope it`s Leo because this handsome lad is ready for his forever person! Poor Leo has some scarring on his neck, that we believe was from an animal attack; more than likely from another dog. Leo does show some shyness, but he is still very friendly and sweet with the other dogs and staff. If you have another dog, we always recommend bringing them along for a meeting! And Leo is on the husky side, so he does need to lose a little poundage! With regular walks, a better diet, and a lot of fun, Leo will back to his ideal weight in no time! Leo the lion-heart deserves nothing but the best, and we hope he starts his new chapter in his forever home soon! Story
Oscar (born around October of 2023) is an active, social, and playful brown dachshund mix. He was picked up as a stray and brought to the community shelter before being transferred to Safe Haven. Oscar is very shy with strangers but seems to warm up quickly after each introduction. He loves to use his excellent `sniffer` on walks around the sanctuary property, and he greatly enjoys using his abilities to search for treats in our ball pit.

Story
I have lived many years with my best friend who is now in a senior home. She wanted me to begin my new life without her with a stay at Animal Humane where dogs know they are loved and cared for. The folks here are famous for helping humans find just the right companion. Because I am older, I am used to a specific routine which has changed since I’ve arrived. Maybe you are interested in finding a partner who can show you a few things about his world. I’m smart and can be silly but mostly I’d just like a new friend to start my new life with.
