Story
Meet Rowan Burrowshanks!! Rowan has been rehabilitating with Wagging Tails rescue for just over a year. He is an approximately 8 year old long-haired chocolate dachshund weighing in at about 16 pounds. When he arrived, he was unable to use his rear legs or urinate on his own because of an untreated spinal injury, which is unfortunately common with this breed. Since then, he has received chiropractic and holistic care from the wonderful Dr. Bradshaw with Agape Animal Chiropractic as well as physical therapy at home with his foster mom and is WALKING again!!!! He has gained back about 75% of his ability to urinate on his own. His foster mom still expresses his bladder 1-2 times a day, but he is usually able to get most of his tinkles out by himself. We just do the additional expression to help prevent urinary tract infections. He is able to poo on his own, but it's occasionally a surprise to him when it shows up, so there are times when he may have an accident in the home.Rowan is a quirky guy, so will require a special forever family. He's a genuinely happy little dude, but is socially awkward. He gives warning nips when he is uncomfortable or frightened, so we do not recommend a home with children. Since he needs his bladder expressed, we would prefer a home with someone who has experience doing so, since he will be quick to correct anyone who is causing him pain or discomfort. He does not like to be picked up because of his back issue, but he's happy to chill out on a fluffy blanket or dog bed at your feet. Now that he can walk again, his tail is always wagging.Rowan is somewhat slow to warm up to new people, but if you are patient with him, he will soon be asking for endless belly rubs, and will stare into your eyes like you're the only human in the world. He loves squeaky toys, smooshy beds, blankets, naps, and like most dachshunds, he was born with a German engineered early warning system pre-installed, so you will never need a doorbell again! He is well-behaved at bath-time, and very much enjoys being blow-dried after his baths. He's a master napping buddy and will be forever loyal to you if you can show him kindness, patience, and understanding. He gets along well with the other dachshunds and small dogs in his foster home, but gets nervous with bigger dogs. He doesn't really show interest in playing with the other dogs, so he would be fine as an only dog. He cannot go up and down stairs or ramps because of his back, so a one-story home would be best for him. We know Rowan isn't everyone's idea of a perfect dog, but he deserves to have a forever family just like any other "normal" dog. Are you his perfect match? Story
Are you looking for your new #1 cuddle bug? Look no further then Remy. He will happily be your shadow and go with you anywhere you would like! Still a young guy, at only 2 years old, he is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly, and while he loves to play with plush toys, he is just as happy laying on the couch, resting his chin on you. Remy was born deaf, so while that's all he knows, it can make him a little more cautious. Besides that he is a healthy young guy, who has lots of love and cuddles to give. Remy was potty trained in his last home but has had a hard time adjusting in his new foster home, he does NOT mark, but he may need a refresher when he joins his new home until he learns the door he needs to go to and your schedule. He is great with dogs and cats of all sizes and ages, and currently shares a foster home with dogs his size, and a dog 110 lbs, as well as a cat who he likes to sniff but does not bother. Remy also loves everyone and even though he starts out a tiny bit shy he becomes fast friends with anyone he meets. Because of his small size we think Remy would do best in a home with children 5+years old. He would be a happy family dog, or just as great in a single person home. What he really just wants is someone to love him as much as he loves. Please let us know if you would like to meet Remy and we will happily set something up 🙂 #AdoptDontShop #ForeverHomeNeeded #SaveALife #RescueLove #SecondChanceAnimalRescue #RescueDogsCommunity #RescueDogsRock #RescueDogsGratitude #RescueDogs We are a non-profit organization ran by 100% unpaid volunteers, the adoption fee for each animal is to help offset the costs of running the rescue (medical care, food, shelter, etc) and to ensure that we can continue helping animals.
